Birthday Gift
A Birthday Gift is an item received by a character once the character reaches their birthday; this occurs every 365 days that pass the day of character creation. For example, a character created on August 28th, 2012 will receive their first birthday gift on August 28, 2013, and their second birthday gift on August 28, 2014.
Gifts are distributed based on the age of the character, not that of the account or when the slot was purchased. For example, a character created in March will receive gifts each March; if that character is deleted in February, its replacement will not see a birthday present until the following February.

While Decade's armor is available to unlock at any time through Proofs of Legend awarded from the Decade of the Dragons achievements, it can also be passively acquired over time through gifts. Each character is gifted 1 token every year starting with the 10th birthday, and the account is gifted 5 tokens each year starting with the 11th birthday. Requiring a total of 18 tokens, the entire set would be acquirable at the 13th birthday with a single character, down to instantly at their 10th birthday with 18 characters.

Aside from the sets mentioned above which require multiple successive birthdays to complete, there are a number of special items only available with a character of a specific age.

Notes[edit]
- Birthday distribution ignores the extra day in leap years; characters will receive a gift every 365 days. This means a character's birthday will "drift" backwards by one day every four years.
- Birthday gifts are distributed at the time of day the character was created, not the daily reset time.
- The next Birthday Gift yet to be obtained by anyone (Year 14; 5110 days.) will be obtainable so at the earliest on August 22, 2026, at 04:00 UTC+00:00.
- When logging into a character after multiple years, all mails are received at the same time, and may arrive out of order.
Trivia[edit]
- The first anniversary of Guild Wars 2 and the distribution of the first birthday gifts coincided with the Clockwork Chaos release in August 2013.
- The original Guild Wars introduced the concept of birthday gifts containing miniatures.
- The initial Headstart period began midnight Pacific Time on 25 August, 2012. However, the oldest possible characters in the game were created about 3 hours earlier, as the servers were officially opened three hours ahead of schedule. The second headstart began on the 27th and the official launch on the 28th, each at midnight Pacific.
- The 11th Year Birthday is the first time the achievement includes neither a title nor achievement point.
