Consume Shadows

Gain stacks of Consume Shadows at regular intervals while in Shadow Shroud. Exiting Shadow Shroud consumes your remaining shadow force and heals allies based on the number of stacks you have gained. Allies that are fully healed receive the rest of the value in barrier.

Mechanics[edit]

The overflow conversion from healing to barrier is calculated before healing modifiers (positive or negative) are applied; making it possible to gain barrier without being healed to full health.

This trait causes Shadow Shroud to accumulate stacks of Consume Shadows at a rate of 1 per second, beginning immediately upon entering Shadow Shroud, up to a maximum of 5, thus taking 4 seconds to reach maximum stacks. Upon exiting Shadow Shroud, your remaining Shadow Force is consumed (reduced to zero) to heal yourself and 4 allies, with the value being determined by the following formula: (Number of stacks of Consume Shadows) * (0.1 in PvE or 0.065 in WvW/PvP) * (Shadow Force value)

For example, if you entered Shadow Shroud in PvE, stayed in it for 3 seconds, then exited when you had 5000 Shadow Force left, you would end up with 0 Shadow Force and heal around you on exit for 4 * 0.1 * 5000 = 2000.

Notes[edit]

  • This skill also affects the caster.

Patch Changes
March 15, 2022
  • Fixed a bug that caused this effect to heal downed allies.
February 28, 2022 End of Dragons release:
  • Consume Shadows has been added to the game.
November 30, 2021
  • Consume Shadows was available during the End of Dragons Beta Event 4.
  • This trait has been reworked and the maximum healing potential reduced in PvE. Activating Shadow Shroud now grants a stack of Consume Shadows, and the specter will gain a stack of Consume Shadows every second while in shroud, up to 5 stacks. When you exit Shadow Shroud, your Shadow Force is consumed, and for each stack of Consume Shadows that you have, 10% of the consumed Shadow Force is converted into healing for nearby allies. Healing past the target's maximum health will be granted as barrier.
