Letter from Knut is a book found during the New Friends, New Enemies story step. It is located on a small round table covered in maps in the west of The War Council area of the Imperator's Core. It is part of the Investigative Study 1 achievement.

Bhuer, my venir.
I wish I was writing under better circumstances, but I've got refugees spilling out of the Shiverpeaks like maggots from a corpse. We've overwhelmed, our homesteads full. I wouldn't be writing if I wasn't concerned. I've been hearing things about the Flame Legion. I know you aren't making daisy chains and singing ballads with that lot, but if Smodur knows anything about these attacks... I can't ignore the whispers. I need to know where he stands in this, figure out what they're doing. Blood is rolling down the mountain, and I don't like the smell.
Smodur. We've had our differences, but this isn't the time to lean on petty disagreements and "ancient" rivalries. We've barely enough ale to get through another week, and I don't think I'll last the winter without.
