Map bonus reward

By completing events, jumping puzzles, and mini-dungeons in a map, you’ll be periodically awarded with one of its associated bonuses in addition to the normal rewards.

Map bonus rewards are earned for completing events and other activities in PvE maps. Each explorable map has its own reward track.

Mechanics

Availability

• Reward tracks are account-based, and all characters on an account can contribute to them.
• Reward tracks are not available in the five starter zones.

Points and dimishing returns

• Points are awarded for each event completed in a map based on participation, although this is invisible to the player. As an example, full participation in an event on a Core Tyria map initially awards 100 points.
• Character-based diminishing returns affect map bonus reward points (Pact Scout's Mapping Materials however are unaffected by diminishing returns). The diminishing returns reset at 00:00 UTC each day.
• Some jumping puzzles and mini-dungeons also award points. For example, Shattered Ice Ruins awards at least 100 points, and indicates that an event "succeeded". There are eligibility criteria for rewards when opening jumping puzzle chests (e.g. character movement prior to opening, may not award points if a different player has just opened the chest)

Rewards

• Rewards tracks are structured in tiers. Rewards are given immediately to the current character when a reward tier is reached.
• In Core Tyria maps, a reward is received at every 200 points up to 8000. After 8000 points the reward track resets and starts giving rewards from the beginning. Every 20th reward gives ten times as many of the current item. Reward tracks change every week at Thursday 20:00 UTC. There is an eight-week cycle of reward tracks.
• As can be observed in the summary tables below, reward allocation differs for maps outside of Core Tyria (e.g. rewards are received every 100 points in Path of Fire maps)

Map bonus reward progress

• Pact Scout's Mapping Materials — grants 200 points within Central Tyria zones.
  • It is possible to buy up to 6 of these from Pact Supply Network Agents daily.
  • Effects that increase points gained do not affect this consumable.
