Is a shoutcaster a commentator?[edit]
The article doesn't explain what a "shoutcaster" is, but from the context I gather that it's a commentator - not a person who casts things by using shouts. Are shoutcasters simply commentators, or is there something more to it? Can we add whichever definition is applicable to the article? It assumes prior knowledge at the moment. -- Dashface

- "___caster" is pretty common, often just shortened to caster. Sportscaster, newscaster, etc, collectively referred to as casters. -Auron 13:05, 10 June 2013 (UTC)

- And thus I deduced that a shoutcaster is a caster who casts on Shoutcast. —Dr Ishmael

- That Urban Dictionary link has a definition that only has 9 thumbs up in two years, so now I don't feel bad about not knowing the word. So they are basically commentators who do a lot of shouting? Like a race caller? -- Dashface

- I would assume that a shoutcaster ist a commentator, who has access to a form of 'shout' function.
- A shout is usually a message that is transmitted to everyone in a large area, like 'everybody currently in a sPvP area' or 'everyone on the server' or even more extrem 'everyone on all NA servers'. Depending on the game the shout can or cannot be surpress by the guy who recieves the message. The recieving can be in form of a chat message or in form of a screen text. When you play FTP games they say usually something like: 'User A looted this incredbly rare loot out of this dropbox which costs real money.'
- Such a shoutcaster would be a good idea. If someone is talented, can type fast, and you want to promote eSport. - Yandere

- It's not an in-game broadcast, the announcement specifically says "listen to these Guild Wars 2 PvP shoutcasts" and "their video streams will be delayed". They're using a streaming service, like SHOUTcast, to broadcast their commentary. —Dr Ishmael
