Not really sure on how to best try to figure out the rate at which this triggers, but heres some data: (this was done with infinite gathering tools that have volatile glyphs on them, this set was done in Lowland shore)

• 7 Honey flower; 7 honey flower
• 5 lowland pine tree; 15 lowland pine logs
• 12 cabbage; 19 cabbages
• 6 verdant herb; 10 (normal loot), 1 pigment, 1 varietal seeds
• 4 taproot; 6 beets, 1 turnip, 1 brown pigment
• 4 cauliflower; 4 cauliflower
• 5 buttnut squash; 7 buttnuts
• 2 carrots; 4 carrots
• 2 orichalcum; 6 orichalcum ore, 2 jewel orbs, 1 honey flower (3rd hit)
• 2 scallions; 4 green onions
• 3 blackberries; 4 blackberry
• 1 ancient wood log; 3 ancient wood
