Talk:Brandstone Research
Feedback 2019/08/15[edit]
can you add as a note that you have to click the beam of light and have it as a target to be able to interact with it, the pop up interact will do nothing. I wantedd to add it but didnt wanna mess up the structure.. --80.68.98.211 01:23, 15 August 2019 (UTC)
- The 'structure' here is quoted verbatim, from the game, while such a point could be added to Beam of Light. However, the first sentence of the article already mentions that it's an 'interactive point', so I'm not sure how it could be further improved. —Ventriloquist 09:50, 15 August 2019 (UTC)
For step 6 you may want to note that if your inventory is full you won't get the item you need to turn in to Yasna and will need to repeat the event.
Step 3 Clarification - How to find the Brandstone Impact Site, then use your Particle Collector on it[edit]
To find and interact with the Brandstone Impact Site, you'll need to talk to the Volatile Magic Collector to receive a "Brandstone Multitool".
- Then the main skill will allow you to search for current Brandstone impact sites. It starts out as your special action key, and can be pressed to toggle with your weapon slots.
The Brandstone impact sites are created by dropped Brandstone meteors approximately every 15-25 minutes. I confirmed some of the NPCs will talk about it; but it appears to only show up in a speech bubble, not in your logs.
- The actual Brandstone itself will only remain on the map for about 5 minutes. But for this step at least, it can detect and allow you to use the Particle Collector on the black miasma, after the purple Brandstone has despawned.
- Once your "Particle Collector" has changed to a filled state, you can give that filled collector to Yasna, to complete your step 3.
- Bug -> Yasna gives the player another collector as they hand in a filled one. The replacement collector can be safely discarded.
- You can purchase additional upgrades for the Brandstone Multitool with Volatile magic. I believe it was 7k volatile magic to get all the upgrades. It appears that you can't get any materials from the Brandstone Impact Site, until Yasna sends on you step 4.

Step 4 Clarification - How to find the Brandstone and Extract it[edit]
I was honestly still confused after looking at the video and prior wiki data, so I decided to elaborate further in this discussion.

Note: It looks like any 10 powdered rose quartz can be returned. I'm not sure if the actual extraction process can be skipped completely.
Extraction Process: Once the meteor has landed (happens approximately every 15-35 minutes, sometimes more often), it only remains for about 5 minutes! You may see a visual flash of the meteor falling. You can also wait for a speech bubble from the Meteorologists at the Astralarium, talking about the meteor landing. You can also periodically do a search while mounted with your "Brandstone Multitool".
- 1. First be sure you have your multitool on you. If you lost it or are on another toon, you can talk to the Volatile Magic collector to get another one.
- 2. Get on your mount, and equip the multi-tool. Then use the multitool to find the meteor, then go to it quick!
- 3. Press 3 to mark the site, if someone hasn't already done so, for some added benefit
- 4. Press 1 to locate BURIED Brandstone Chunk. The small light points from the middle circle towards the direction of the Brandstone. There will sometimes also be a blue glow to indicate the direction as well.
- 5. Once you see a beam of light, you can then press 2 to dig the Brandstone Chunk to the surface.
- 6. You can interact or spam the #3 skill if you have it to extract the Brandstone.
- 7. Repeat these steps until there are no more buried brandstone chunks.
- More details can be found here: https://wiki.gw2.org.cn/wiki/Brandstone_Multitool
P.S. (1) When you finish the Brandstone Research, you can avoid gathering all the materials via this method if you own the LWS4 Icebrood Saga, by collecting eternal ice shards directly / from chests / from strikes, and then convert those eternal ice shards into Kralkatorrik Ore, and buy the Powdered Rose Quartz off of the trading post. (2) Furthermore, you can skip the resources for one of the Astral weapons, by instead completing Astral Purification which rewards you with the main ingredient needed to create a Stellar weapon, because in total you only need 6 Astral and or Stellar weapons for "Visions of Equipment: Astral Weapons".
Step 6 Interrupt[edit]
The NPC, Akali, disappears if "Stop the book-burning raid on the Astralarium" library event becomes active before his event is triggered. The NPC will return in around 10 minutes after the raid event has passed.
