Can you join the dungeons from the original locations if they are open from LA or vice versa? I've seen people claim yes, but from my experience you can't, you can only join them if you are in the map used to open them, be that LA or their respective map. As far as I can tell, if a dungeon is open from LA you need to be in LA to join, if it's open from say Plains of Ashford, then you need to be in Plains of Ashford to join.
