How do you colour hyper links?
I'm not able to colour a hyperlink. Any idea how to do this? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Derigar (talk • contribs).
- If you're retaining your browser history, then any link you've visited changes from a plain blue .to.a purple - caveat, this visited link colour may depend on which browser you're using. -Chieftain Alex

- And now I see you've asked this in a weird place because you're talking about this edit which is nothing to do with the Main Page... - please use Help:Ask a wiki question.
- To answer your question however, you can change the colour appearance of links by doing something like [[Main Page|<span style="color:green; font-weight:bold;">Main Page link appearance</span>]] which would result in: Main Page link appearance -Chieftain Alex

- You're not being annoying at all! We were all new once, and the wiki is pretty complicated at times. :) Guild Wars 2 Wiki:Practices and processes links to a few editing guides that you may find helpful. We also have a discord server where you can drop in for help with editing, or if you prefer you can head to Help:Ask a wiki question, as Alex said. By the way, don't forget to sign your comments on talk pages by using four tildes: ~~~~ —Idris

- Not to mention that Derigar has helpfully stumbled across an annoying glitch in mediawiki where it doesn't like "=" signs in prose within templates... the wiki is still a head scratching exercise for me too! -Chieftain Alex

Major improvement suggestion
I cannot describe the number of times I have now made half of something, only to find out that one component of it is NOT something you can create at all, or, almost as badly, requires a recipe that is not readily available or built-in. I would suggest that anything crafted that requires a not-readily-available component (meaning, "Look closer at this one before attempting") be somehow marked that way. At a guess, just doing the item itself, as well as the subcomponent if you're looking at the recipe for it, in italics. That's just an idea but any marking possible -- another font, another color, whatever -- would be a MASSIVE improvement in the crafting elements of this wiki. It would be a thing to fix over time, but it would be A Real Good Thing. Even a special character (e.g., §, µ for example) by the item in the crafting component listing is a thought.

- Odd talk page to choose, but ok, I'll humour you.
- How would you suggest we agree on those items you are describing? Are we talking "items crafted only for achievements" (e.g. Eggs Beetletun has a recipe only available through a collection)? How would you avoid ending up with every slightly-awkward recipe? -Chieftain Alex

Seasonal main page background
Halloween ended 2023-11-07, and it's been one month already (also Wintersday is approaching). Is it natural to keep the seasonal background until the next festival rolls around...? --BryghtShadow (talk) 10:20, 7 December 2023 (UTC)
- May be a cache error on your end, try clearing your browser cache. (I don't see the Halloween theme.) —Kvothe (talk) 14:54, 7 December 2023 (UTC)
- I should have specified that it's the Vector (old and new) skin (which is not served for logged out users, because they get Monobook). Halloween themes were added here MediaWiki:Vector.css but has not been removed since. https://wiki.gw2.org.cn/index.php?title=Main_Page&useskin=vector and https://wiki.gw2.org.cn/index.php?title=Main_Page&useskin=vector-2022 --BryghtShadow (talk) 10:50, 8 December 2023 (UTC)

Additional offset in Vector Appearance to account for floating search bar
Currently, when I open up a longer article and scroll down, the page title and scroll bar detach and appear on top of the visible portion of the browser window - which is a great feature! This, however, clashes with the anchor(?) links like in https://wiki.gw2.org.cn/wiki/Spirit_Vale_(achievements)#Keep_the_Lights_On - note the # - which aligns the selected sub-heading with the top of the page, not accounting for the offset needed to clear the search bar in Vector. Has anyone solved this problem with a custom CSS or could adjust it wiki-wide for the default style sheet? --BelleroPhone (talk) 05:59, 15 June 2025 (UTC)
- Addendum: I think I misattributed what I am seeing to anchor links overall, I can reproduce what I described only in the template-based Achievement pages. I go to Be My Guest, scroll to the Achievements section, select the link next to "Captive Audience" https://wiki.gw2.org.cn/wiki/Long_Live_the_Lich_(achievements)#achievement4217 and would expect to land on a page where the selected achievement is at the top. However, I am getting this: https://imgur.com/xbWsHyT. Note that if I resize my browser window to be even more narrow so that it does not have the floating search bar, everything is fine. --BelleroPhone (talk) 06:13, 15 June 2025 (UTC)
- I suspect you are seeing the effects of our client-side javascript widgets, particularly in the instance of the achievement page - for "Widget:Account achievements".
- In monobook, the initial top of the page will be 0, and the anchor position will be x. If the widget loads fast enough (which is fairly random to put it kindly), then nothing is affected. Otherwise if the widget loads a bit late (widget of height y), either above or below the anchor we're interested in (new anchor position x-y or x+y), then the anchors are all slightly off.
- In vector-2022, you've got the above, plus the additional fun of the sticky header.
- The answer is probably to apply/refine the "scroll-padding-top" CSS property, although I'm not sure where that belongs (probably the body element). -Chieftain Alex

VoE background image
The Ritualist and Luminary images currently have white backgrounds that create hard edges with the vector skin. Possible to give them transparent backgrounds like the JW images, or further soften the edges? --Hazasoul (talk) 11:21, 11 November 2025 (UTC)
Facebook vids
ArenaNet has been posting a few promotional videos of Kuda plotting for the next chapter. They aren't greatly informative, but do set the mood. I don't know if we're transcribing them, but I thought I'd post links here. SarielV
