Template talk:Salvages into

might want to include an optional count parameter to denote the number of items as outcome of salvage example "Fried Oyster Sandwich" gives 10 Exotic Extract of Nourishment and including it in wiki page that uses this template would be more informative —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Crystalpaladin (talk) at 09:23, 5 August 2021 (UTC).
- Quantities are added as suffix if necessary, omitted for the quanity (1). For example:
* {{salvages into|Silk Scrap}}
* {{salvages into|Mithril Ore}} (1-3)
- Reviving an older talk but since we have added the qty parameter to many other templates, we might actually want to add it here too. ~Sime 00:45, 17 July 2023 (UTC)
Cross-template standardization[edit]
As with my suggestion on Template:Rewards item (and as I see has been suggested here previously), this template could use to have some parameters implemented that are frequently used in Template:Contains and Template:Gather.
- Add chance= parameter with "chance" and "Guaranteed" values.
- Default chance=chance.
- Show "(guaranteed)" on =guaranteed rewards.
- =Choice is impossible for salvaging and does not need implementing.
- Add qty= parameter to add numeric value to object.
- Default value should be unspecified, which denotes "some may be possible".
- Bot edit current paranthesis numbers to use the parameter instead.
- Add notes= parameter.
- Can be used to tell percentages or average result.
- A note style parameter could also be useful here.

- Adding these parameters will require rewriting this template to store the information in a subobject like the other templates.
- Create the new property pages: Property: Salvaged from, Property: Salvaged item, Property: Has salvaged item chance, Property: Has salvaged item quantity, Property: Has salvaged item notes
- Rewrite this template to add the new parameters and set the subobject, then wait for the wiki to create the new subobjects. Leave the old property alone for now.
- Edit {{Salvaged from}} (and any other template that looks up Property:Salvages into) to reference the new subobject.
- Edit this template to remove setting the old property.

Salvage type[edit]
Added as a separate topic as it likely requires more consideration than the above suggestions.
- Add a parameter to show type of salvage or kit used. (type= or kit=)
- Many items have multiple salvage types which produce different items.
- This is specific to salvaging and not applicable to the other templates.
- Would also be useful to show salvage rates by different levels of kits.
