Dialogue[edit]

A Simple Task Your aid in the fight against Eparch and his meat army has been an unexpected boon (if Dagda and I had made a bet, I'd be eating well tonight). In these moments of reprieve, I could use some help with an...odd task. A strange sensation pulls at my gut. Like a memory, waiting to surface. Come find me at the tower and warm your hands by the forge for a bit. I'll be much less cryptic once I've collected my thoughts. Lyhr |
- Speaking with Lyhr at the Forge of Timelessness
- Here for a bit of crafting?
- Actually, I'm here about the mail you sent me.
- It's more sentimental than anything. An effect I kept from before my ascension.
- It's all right, Lyhr. I'll help get it back.
- Find me in Amnytas, and help me clean up the Bastion of Balance.
- I'll meet you there.
- After retrieving the relic and returning to speak with Lyhr
- I found your...lantern?
- Lyhr: First time seeing it since before the Kryptis invasion.
- Lyhr: Never figured out how it works, but I can feel this...echo. An old memory trying to surface.
- Lyhr: My responsibilities in the tower have me tied up. You take it. Do some digging.
- What do you say? Ready to do another favor for your favorite wizard?
- Got any leads?
- Forgemaster Elrik, who's overseeing operations in Droknar's Light, may have some insights as an expert smith. However, I'd suggest you help out around the forge there first to gain his favor.
- I'll see what I can find.
- A hero after my own heart.
- When I have more time.
- Speaking with Forgemaster Elrik after completing Defeat the dwarf before they're fully posessed
- Welcome to the forge, outsider. You can sit for a while, just don't fool with anything.
- Can you help me with something, Elrik?
- Speaking with Ogden Stonehealer in the office of The Durmand Priory instance
- Commander! What brings you my way? Not more dragon trouble, I hope? Heh.
- You're in good spirits.
- Been busy helping Gixx here after the end of the dragon cycle. Tyria's got plenty of other mysteries to solve.
- Speaking of mysteries, do you recognize this lantern?
- Ogden Stonehealer: Would you look at that...I've not seen a Waylit lantern in quite some time.
- Ogden Stonehealer: [sic] The Waylits are a family of scouts, trackers, and delvers. Each receives a lantern as a rite of passage into adulthood.
- Ogden Stonehealer: A few Waylits remain, out scavenging what's left of their homes with the other Deldrimor.
- Ogden Stonehealer: In fact, I sent a Priory escort with my own kin to investigate ruins to the south.
- Ogden Stonehealer: Here, take this.
- Ogden Stonehealer: It’s a parcel for one of the Priory members. Deliver it and speak to the dwarves. They may be of some help.
- Delivering the parcel to Novice Taeya at Guutra's Secret
- Please tell me you've come to relieve me of my post? I know these ruins are important to the Deldrimor, but it's an awful assignment.
- I'm here for the dwarves, but Ogden asked me to deliver this.
- Thanks, I guess. Speak to them if you like. They're hankering for a dive into the river for bits and baubles.
- I will, thanks.
- Speaking with Timin Blastburl at False Lake
- Hey! You look capable. Klement said he'd be organizing a dive soon and, well...we don't have those fancy rebreathers.
- What are you searching for?
- Family heirlooms, trinkets kept in hidden compartments that a grog-sloshed pirate would miss. Whatever's worth some coin.
- Like this lantern?
- Exactly like that. How'd you get your mitts on such a piece?
- I'm looking for the Waylits.
- The Waylits, huh? Tell you what, help me find something from the river ruins, and I'll point you in the right direction.
- Fair enough!
- I'm looking for the Waylit family. Got any leads?
- Speaking with Timin Blastburl again after completing Collect dwarven artifacts from False Lake for Innkeeper Klement
- I found these trinkets.
- They're fine pieces! You earned your information. As for the Waylits, find Von. He was cache-hunting just north of Hoelbrak, in some cave. Take this bauble to him and he'll steer you right.
- I'm off to Snowden Drifts, then.
- Speaking with Von Delverunner in King Jalis's Refuge jumping puzzle
- 'Fraid you’re out of luck, stranger. Cache is picked clean.
- You Von? Timin said to trade this for some information.
- Don't need a bribe to do right by a fellow traveler. What do you need?
- I heard you're a friend of the Waylit family.
- Aye. Last I spoke with Riley Waylit, her party was looking to explore some abandoned hall near dredge territory to the south. The Priory have researchers looking into those ruins too, I've heard.
- Then that's my next destination. Thanks!
- Interacting with the Dwarven Journal object in the Forsaken Fortune mini-dungeon
- There appears to be a partially destroyed journal on the ground. Would you like to pick it up?
- Pick up the book. (gives Dwarven Journal)
- Reading the Dwarven Journal
It took two days, but we figured out how to bypass the magical seal on the door without needing the key. Our people built this, after all.
Riley and Hewn haven't returned from the granite Citadel yet, but I don't see the harm in the rest of us poking around the entry hall while we wait.
Jovers said he heard scratching further in, chittering. Hall has a pest problem, sounds like. Nothing the three of us can't handle.
- Speaking with Riley Waylit at Seven Pines camp
- Say, aren't you that "Pact Commander"? What brings you all the way out here?
- You Riley? I found this journal. Your friends found a skelk nest.
- Blast it! Those impatient... (sighs) Thanks for letting me know. We weren't kin or anything, but... Well, no sense in going back to get myself killed.
- The journal isn't the only reason I'm here. Is this lantern yours?
- Riley Waylit: Where did... I said he'd regret lending that half-smelted heretic his lantern.
- Riley Waylit: Rand, my allegedly wiser cousin, went off in search of someone we knew from long ago: "Liar," "Layer," "Lyhr." Who cares?
- Riley Waylit: Don't know where either of them are, but you look like you have questions, and I owe you for the trouble.
- Ask away, traveler.
- Who was "Lyhr" to you?
- No one special. An orphan from Grooble’s Gulch, I think? Taken in by his aunt after his parents died.
- Anything else?
- Eh... Rumor was he could create facets of himself, like Glint. Pure gossip if you ask me.
- I have other questions.
- Lyhr was a heretic? How?
- He wasn't Stone Summit, if that's your worry. Lyhr would butt heads with our priests over prophecies like the legends of the Rubicon.
- So...?
- So, the blowhard left in search of a "solution." And for what? We found the tome years later and took the rite; the rest was history.
- I have other questions.
- How does the lantern work?
- Heh. It's simple. Say the full name of a Waylit, and the light ignites. A blue light means they're alive.
- I have other questions.
- What now? Do I leave the lantern with you, or...?
- Riley Waylit: Keep it. I'll tell Rand I left it with the famed Pact Commander. If he wants it enough, he'll find you.
- Maybe later.
- Returning to speak with Lyhr
- Your lantern belongs to a dwarf of the Waylit family. Rand.
- How... Are...are you sure?
- I met his cousin; sounds like he's looking for you, and now probably me.
- Lyhr: It's... You know when the first sunbeam breaks at dawn, and its warmth feels unreal at first? That's what this name is to me.
- Lyhr: Somehow, I knew I'd hear it again. Rand Waylit...
- Lyhr: So that’s how it turns on. What a calming blue.
- Lyhr: Probably better if you take the lantern, for now, Wayfinder. If Rand is looking for us, you're easier to find.
