Ava is a human Clanmarshal who alongside her twin brother Gregory governs over the province of Hadun located in northwestern Vabbi in Elona.

Biography[edit]

Origins[edit]

Ava and her twin brother Gregory were born to the formerly noble House Mairelock in Divinity's Reach. Their father and head of household Lord Erakor Mairelock was once an accomplished artist and painter.

From a very young age the twins demonstrate a talent for the arts that suggested great potential in following on their father's footsteps. Ava in particular taking great interest in painting.

The two also possessed innate magical abilities resulting from an ancient form of necromancy bound to them before their birth.

This granted them control over life energies, blood and death magic but taxing on the two young children who were small, pale and their bodies were weak requiring more sleep than regular children as well as a constant supply of blood in controlled amounts.

At the young age of eight, tragedy struck when their home burned down. Believing the rest of their family members to have died in the fire, the twins manage to escape. Fearful it had been an attempt to end their lives, Ava and Gregory flee Divinity's Reach. Together they head to the Durmand Priory.

Journey to Elona[edit]

Fearing the possibility of being sent back to Divinity's Reach, the two devise a plan to stowaway on a Priory expedition that would take them to Elona. Successful in this, the two travel with a group of researchers down to Vabbi where they decide to stay as guests. This would mark the beginning of House Frazier as Ava and her brother devised a plan to live amongst Elonian Royalty, claiming to be guests on a diplomatic mission as Krytan nobility in an effort to bridge the two cultures with the promise of establishing trade and things they had no real claim to. Very few question it and found the two outlander children quite entertaining. Gregory takes up music and performative arts and Ava continues her studies to follow in their late father's footsteps becoming a painter.

By the age of ten, they are discovered by Clanmarshal Seyit of Hadun. It is unclear whether he'd found them out to be lying about who they were and where they came from. Impressed with their accomplishments thus far for a couple of young children in a foreign land he offers to take them as his protégés. The two agree to this and they begin attending Vehtendi Academy, learning all they can encouraged by their guardian in order to make themselves indispensable to the Kingdom of Elona.

At fourteen years of age Ava begins her career as a freelance artist. Painting and sculpting and providing the Mordant Crescent with busts and propaganda material while still studying in subjects such as alchemy, necromancy, lawmaking, engineering, political science, cultural anthropology and sociology. She and her twin attend the trials at the Necropolis where she learns about the death magic rituals and becomes loosely involved for a brief time.

Clan Frazier[edit]

For the rest of her academic life Ava devotes herself to her studies and artworks. Sheltered by both her twin brother who joins in the wars against Balthazar's Forged and eventually what leads to the fall of King Palawa Joko and Kralkatorik as well as their guardian the Clanmarshal Seyit.

Seyit then dies of natural causes leaving behind a written will that named his two protégés and Krytan outlanders as the sole heirs to the former Clanmarshal's lands and wealth. What follows is months of discourse and debates halted repeatedly by the wars. Ultimately, Seyit's last will is respected and the twins become Clanmarshals establishing Clan Frazier formally.

Land and wealth secured, they begin work forging alliances. Ava aids the Free Awakened, some of which join their clan and she makes use of her necromancy to help restore them to a more dignified existence than the grotesque afterlife they'd been left with. Replacing unusable limbs and decayed flesh to help them integrate and become functional members of society.

The province of Hadun sees people move back into the lands under the rule of the new clanmarshals. Together the siblings establish a mine a library a market and even an arena as gathering places for artists, craftsmen of different trades and skilled fighters. Some are recruited for their militia with many development projects planned for the future.

At present time, they oversee a steady supply of gemstones as well as the production of medicines, poisons and other alchemical components.

Combat Abilities[edit]

Blood and Death Magic

  • Ava and her twin brother are bound to an ancient form of blood magic by a ritual that decided their fate before their birth. As a result, they are able to syphon magic and blood from foes, inflict wounds and redistribute life energies in battle to heal themselves or allies while damaging enemies.
  • Death magic allows Ava to raise undead constructs she carefully crafts via flesh-sculpting. Her creations are unlike what one would come to expect from traditional necromancy. Not grotesque aberrations of mis-matched parts but beautiful detailed and often colorful creatures that honor the life that once inhabited the parts used to create them. Similar to how wakes celebrate and honor the life of the deceased. Her constructs are not only aesthetically pleasing, they are also functional not only in combat but can serve as mounts or even entertainment while being devoid of life save for the magic imbued into them to animate them temporarily. Additionally, these creations are sometimes able to aid in spellcasting or even performing rituals and are usually crafted with a purpose or "oneness" to their existence. The process, while similar to how Awakened are made in some aspects has several differences;
      • Unlike Awakened, these constructs do not use tar for preservation and thus are near impossible to create en-masse as the substances and processes take far too much skill, hard labor, time and alchemical substances making it difficult and unsustainable in large quantities.
      • Animating them takes magic and is only temporary.
      • They lack a will of their own and have limited range of functions. Some are created for fighting while others are created for farming, mining or cleaning but are not usually able to perform too complex a task.
  • Ava is bound to Wisps, ancient spirits that have long lost any sense of identity or self she came across as a child and will sometimes grant her favors but mostly have a will of their own. These mysterious entities entered a sort of contract or pact with her at a young age in order to continue to exist and not be consumed or disappear. They are echoes or ancient lives and behave in a child-like manner.
