User:Endaris/WvW Claim Guild Upgrade Path
This is for personal bookkeeping mostly. It is not really transparent from the wiki pages what upgrades are needed and at which point intermittent upgrades might be necessary to build a personal guild dedicated to claiming objectives.
The guild should:
- provide full objective aura benefits on claimed objectives
- enable claiming of camps, towers and keeps
Requirements[edit]
This is the minimum of WvW unrelated structures you need to build. Aetherium Capacity 3 is needed because later Aura upgrades and Keep claiming require 5,000 . Mine Excavation 2 is needed to unlock Aetherium Capacity 3. Tavern Restoration is needed to unlock everything else and Workshop Restoration to unlock the War Room Restoration.
(commented out to prevent loading these all the time) {{base guild materials|Tavern Restoration 1|quantity=1|widget=no}} {{base guild materials|Mine Excavation 1|quantity=1|widget=no}} {{base guild materials|Mine Excavation 2|quantity=1|widget=no}} {{base guild materials|Workshop Restoration 1|quantity=1|widget=no}} {{base guild materials|Aetherium Capacity 1|quantity=1|widget=no}} {{base guild materials|Aetherium Capacity 2|quantity=1|widget=no}} {{base guild materials|Aetherium Capacity 3|quantity=1|widget=no}}

| 6 | Aetherium Capacity 1, WvW Guild Claiming: Camps | 0.3 |
| 7 | Objective Aura 1: Supply Capacity | 0.65 |
| 8 | 1 | |
| 9 | Aetherium Capacity 2 | 0.65 |

| 36 | 1 | |
| 37 | 1 |
In total we're short 2345 GXP to reach level 37 to unlock the final aura upgrade.
Supplementary Upgrades[edit]
Here are some lists of upgrades that could be considered useful to a solo player or a small group regardless.
Personal Storage[edit]
Store tradeable items like stacks of Mithril, Ectos, you name it.
| Upgrade | Required Level | Awarded Levels | needed | needed |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Guild Vault: Stash | 0 | 0.1 | 1000 | 0 |
| Market Restoration 1 (needed for Treasure Trove) | 4 | 1 | 250 | 1000 |
| Guild Treasure Trove | 20 | 0.35 | 1500 | 3000 |
| Market Restoration 2 (needed for Deep Cave) | 22 | 1 | 500 | 5000 |
| Deep Cave | 32 | 0.35 | 2000 | 3000 |
Market Restoration 2 is not that expensive on its own and there is a small handful of cheap GXP upgrades it unlocks so it's not bad.
Favor Farm[edit]
Guild missions that favor or outright require the participation of multiple people can make it difficult to acquire the needed favor.
The main farm missions are Trek, Bounty, and Obsidian Sanctum so an extra slot for both PvE / WvW helps to have these pop up more often. WvW Rank missions can also be cheesed via consumables that grant WXP: Box of WvW Supplies from PvE currency gobblers or Thimble of Instant World Experience/Taste of Instant World Experience from Unsealed Mist-Hardened Lockbox or Dugan.
| Upgrade | Required Level | Awarded Levels | needed | needed |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mission Slot: PvE (needs Market Restoration 1) | 4 | 0.35 | 100 | 500 |
| Mission Slot: WvW | 4 | 0.35 | 150 | 500 |
The WvW mission slot is also cheap so you probably want to unlock that regardless.
Guild hall upgrades are largely favor capped until about level 20-25 where the unupgraded mining rate falls behind the rate at which you can acquire favor even as a solo player guild due to most upgrades only requiring 300-500 Favor but needing 3 days of Aetherium production or more.
The more favor you have before you start, the better so if there is an Easy bounty or Trek, just take it.
Upgrades of dubious use[edit]
Under the assumption that the guild is used by a small group of players only, these are a bit dubious but nonetheless...
Resource nodes[edit]
The guild workshop's resource nodes can only be gathered from once per day, however, differently sized nodes are unique. That means even after gathering in the player's main max-level guild, it would still be possible to farm nodes in a guild hall that has not the maximum Synthesis upgrade.
It might generally be worthwhile to consider the value of each node type and compare the gains to the cost when looking at rarity upgrades here. Low priced nodes like cloth will primarily return interest via Volatile Magic returns from a glyph so that rarity does not really matter.
In particular the Ore node might be worthwhile to obtain extra Obsidian Shards or crafting materials for guild weapons.
This one is strongly based on opportunity cost. If you have a dedicated gathering character with glyphs, quickness and fast gathering tools, harvesting the extra guild hall may only take a minute per day and slowly recoup the investment. The Flax needed for Restoration 2 DOES hurt though.
Just upgrade what is cheapest[edit]
The pricing situation may change a bit in the future but generally you will be looking at around 30-40g per guild level with the exception of the restoration upgrades that unlock an entire section to be able to build upgrades you actually want.
Things that are generally promising:
- 100 GXP: Guild Portal (upgrade) - very affordable; you can obtain Watchwork Portal Devices from Twisted Marionette achievements which makes this even cheaper.
- Most early Tavern upgrades are very affordable until Restoration 2 which is incredibly expensive.
- Most Arena upgrades are very affordable and Restoration 2 is not cheap but affordable for the amount of cheap upgrades it unlocks.
- Besides the storage upgrades, the market upgrades look overall pretty bad.
- Most of the War Room upgrades are cheap
- Early synthesizer upgrades are not bad
Suggested upgrade path[edit]
Your mileage may vary but this is an upgrade path that includes guild storage, early mission slot unlocks while otherwise prioritizing WvW upgrades.
Some upgrades (like WvW banners) may get skipped as they have high favor/aetherium costs for how little money they save. They can generally be thrown in the later parts over other upgrades.
At the time of writing you're looking at around 1500g for upgrades you don't necessarily need just to level up and reach the required level for objective aura upgrades and 2000g for the objective aura upgrades themselves.
