Salvaging[edit]
This is a quick overview of most salvaging questions. It covers various salvage kits, when to use which kit, and which kit might be ideal for a given situation. It does not cover every single use case or edge cases, but is appropriate for the vast majority of situations.
Gem Store Salvage Kits[edit]
Only buy a gem store kit for convenience or quality-of-life. They take an extremely long time to "pay off," or generate a return on investment.
- What's the best salvage kit to buy from the Gem Store?
- Short answer: Copper-Fed Salvage-o-Matic is the least expensive (3
per use), so just get this and never worry about buying salvage kits again! - Long answer: There isn't a universal best kit. Different kits have different uses. Choose the most appropriate kit for each situation.
- What kit should I use for each situation?
- For Basic and Fine items, use a Copper-Fed Salvage-o-Matic (3
per use). - For Masterwork items, use a Runecrafter's Salvage-o-Matic (20
per use). - For Rare and Exotic items, use a Silver-Fed Salvage-o-Matic (60
per use). - The previous kits will destroy upgrades, regardless of rarity. If you need to recover upgrades, use a Black Lion Salvage Kit.
- For Ascended items, use a Ascended Salvage Kit. Ascended kits always recover upgrades.
In-Game Salvage Kits Equivalents[edit]
- Copper-Fed Salvage-o-Matic is the same as Basic Salvage Kit.
- Runecrafter's Salvage-o-Matic does not have an in-game equivalent to its 100% chance to salvage upgrades.
- Silver-Fed Salvage-o-Matic is the same as Master's Salvage Kit or Mystic Salvage Kit.
- Black Lion Salvage Kit and Ascended Salvage Kit do not have gem store equivalents.
