Introduction[edit]

This is a page where I put cheap alternatives to meta builds, or general guides on gearing up cheaply. All exotics, no ascended.

How to Cheaply Gear a Healer for Beginner Raid Healers[edit]

First thing to realize: in Guild Wars 2, your healing power is not as important as your boon duration. Boon duration is increased from the Concentration stat. General rule of thumb is you want 100% boon duration as a healer as providing boons is your most important job.

These gearing options will get you to near 100% boon duration and is acceptable, but not perfect, for all healers:

Total cost will be around 30 gold, give or take.

The food and utilities are not optional. This generalized build was designed with you eating the food and utility in mind. You will lose precious Concentration (Boon Duration) if you do not use them which will result in you dropping boons (depending on the healer.) The effects lasts thirty minutes each; buy multiples.

Some things to note:

  • If you are planning to be the tank in your group, you can buy Snowflake Orichalcum trinkets instead to increase your toughness. Note that many fights determine the tank by the toughness stat and if you bring high toughness (>1500) to random groups, assume you will be tanking.
  • If you can spend the extra money, use these instead for a bit better heals:
  • There are better, potentially cheaper options; this is a generalized guide, made to be simple and easy to follow.
  • Some healers do not need 100% boon duration because their traits increase their boon duration. You can replace the Soul Pastry or Peppermint Oil with the standard healer enhancements (Delicious Rice Ball and Bountiful Maintenance Oil), just be sure you are still reaching near 100% boon duration.
