Born close to Ascalon in the days before the Searing, when humans and charr were at war with one another, Vana Runedottir witnessed terrible things, seeing her beautiful country destroyed by the Charr. Just before the Searing, she joined the Ascalon Academy to fight for her country, and her adventures took her to Cantha, Elona, and the Far Shiverpeaks.
She was a co-leader of an alliance of leaders, known as the Astral Travellers.
Over two hundred and fifty years later her story is still told, and a new guild of heroes, loosely known as the kin of Vana, or Vanakin are inspired by her to perform new deeds of daring to save their world from new threats, and whose own stories add to her legends, beyond Tyria, Cantha, Elona, the Crystal Desert, Vabbi, Janthir, and outlying islands as far as Castora.
Heroes of the Vanakin[edit]
The current Vàna Rúndóttir is a direct descendent of the original Vana Runedottir, whom she is named after, but she is a norn elementalist, not a human ranger. She founded a guild known as Nim Thrymm[NIM] which provides resources to all the Vanakin heroes. For the purposes of the Mist Wars, the heroes all follow an alliance via a guild called Death by Cuteness[CUTE].
The most accomplished and most widely travelled of the heroes is Lynn Fa, a female sylvari ranger, able to act in all ranger related specialist roles. Her name means Lotus flower in Cantonese, so she is also known as the Blue Lotus.
There are over 30 heroes in the group, most of them being female humans.
Favourite Quotes[edit]

- "At the sunset hour, the clouds are ranged like banners, and I think of things: that is what it means to love One who lives beyond my world."
- " Deyr fé, deyja frændur, deyr sjálfur ið sama. En orðstír deyr aldregi hveim er sér góðan getur." "Possessions pass away, friends and kinfolk die, we ourselves also die; but the fair fame never dies of the one who has earned it."
