Defeat the Tentacle of Nourys and close the rift are level 80 group events that occur at various places around Amnytas during The Defense of Amnytas meta.

Walkthrough[edit]

This event occurs in six locations simultaneously across the map. It is recommended to spread out to clear the events efficiently (refer to the map below for locations). Note that the Waypoint (map icon).png Bastion of Knowledge Waypoint — becomes contested when the events start.

Each event follows the same progression:

  1. Kill Kryptis spawning around the rift. Once completed the Tentacle of Nourys becomes vulnerable.
  2. Damage the Tentacle to 25%, at which it becomes invulnerable again and a Champion Avatar spawns.
  3. Defeat the Champion Avatar, making the Tentacle vulnerable again.
  4. Finish off the Tentacle and close the rift.

Each event location will provide a unique special action skill (which are also given in the following events of this meta).

Dagda: Too many Kryptis. We must strike them first. Then we stand against the tentacle.

Head Archivist Wavering Heart: Concentrate on the Kryptis. Evade the tentacle. I will interrogate...myself. The demon. In my head.
Head Archivist Wavering Heart: Names have power, parasite. I name you...Louse. Tell me your secrets, Louse. Quieter. Less screaming.
Peitha: They hold one of my people at bay in their mind? Separate? Or...who possesses whom, here? Curious...

Forro: The...larger masses. The tentacles Frode spoke of. Avoid those. We are not ready for them.

Researcher Lezzi: Alchemy... This rift...it's...exquisite. And this creature forms multiple rifts at once? Astounding.
Researcher Lezzi: It's essential that we survive this encounter-I need to dissect it, view its organs.
Approaching event
Researcher Lezzi: Can't study that tentacle with those Kryptis in the way. They must be addressed first.
Researcher Lezzi: By "addressed" I mean eradicated. That's clear, yes?

Researcher Lezzi: Rifles required! Concentrate your fire, or we'll never get our hands on that tentacle!

Researcher Lezzi: Ooh, yes, Kryptis dead, wonderful. Perhaps now we can afford a closer look at the tentacle!

Researcher Lezzi: High Kryptis. It's undoubtedly here to guard the tentacle. And exterminate us. How annoying.

Galrath the Undying: Here we go. Won't stop until one of us is bleeding out, will they?
Approaching event
Galrath the Undying: Down anything that comes out of that portal. Save your mercy for something that deserves it.
Galrath the Undying: And watch your footing. If that tentacle catches you off guard... That eye is watching every one of your movements.
