- A Brief Reflection on Olaf Olafson
Olaf Olafson, seventh son of Olaf, owned one of the largest farmsteads in the greater Drizzlewood Coast area. His property often served as a gathering place for much of the region's norn population. These gatherings often encompassed an excess of indulgences, including song, dance, and drink, and more song, more dance, and even more drink. In the present day, many modern norn consider Olafson to be one of the closest figures in norn society to serve in a prominent leadership position.
- Norn/Human Diplomacy
The Evolution of Norn/Human Diplomacy in the Drizzlewood Coast
As the gatherings of the figurehead Olaf Olafson rose in popularity amongst Drizzlewood Coast residents, a group of immigrants in the area also found their interests piqued: human settlers. Much like their norn counterparts, these humans found themselves flocking to Olafson's farmstead to participate in the merriment and general gaiety of the events. These gatherings, though attended for lighthearted pleasure, eventually manifested into a sort of peace summit between the two races. Though they were not without a minor brouhaha or two (see: The Great Drunken Debauchery of Sven Liefson), these celebrations served as a strong foundation for peaceful norn/human relations well into the modern day.
- The Legacy and Mythos of the Olafson Sword
One of the most notorious symbols of norn/human relations to this date remains the Olafson Sword. The sword was gifted to the renowned Olaf Olafson at one of his many farmstead gatherings as a token of appreciation from the human settlements in the area. After obtaining it, various sources have claimed that Olafson enchanted the sword so that it would serve as the only functioning key for a hidden vault in the region. Legend has it that Olafson placed his valuables in this vault as protection against the increasing number of looters (and suitors) in the area. In modern times, Olafson's remaining descendants and treasure hunters alike have searched for Olafson's supposed bounty. It has yet to be successfully recovered.
- The Great Drunken Debauchery of Sven Liefson
In what is more colloquially known as the "Pantless Incident of 'O4," norn hunter Sven Liefson risked greatly damaging norn/human relations with irresponsible consumption of drink. After several rounds, a visibly intoxicated Liefson challenged a nearby human to a test of strength. When the human settler repeatedly declined his challenge, Liefson mocked him, going as far as to remove his pants and shake his behind in the human's face. This incident serves as an excellent teaching moment for key faux pas to avoid in interspecies communications. After sobering up a few days later, Liefson apologized to the human in question. The two are said to have become great friends following the debacle.
- The Betrayal of Olaf Olafson
Though Olaf Olafson was a respected member of the norn community of Drizzlewood, his success was at times a source of jealousy. One specific incident involves norn farmer and former Olafson friend Ike Ikeson. Ikeson frequented several Olafson gatherings, even attending several dinners hosted by the Olafson family. However, after hearing rumors of Olafson hiding his valuables in an undisclosed vault, Ikeson's greed overtook him. He strategically attended Olafson social events with the goal of siphoning clues about the treasure's whereabouts. After a neighbor informed Olafson that he caught Ikeson trying to break into the barn housing his sword, Olafson alleviated the problem by stabbing Ikeson through the abdomen with it, thereby damaging the friendship.
