A gizmo is a type of item that has a special function, typically preserved or combined/transformed after use. For example:
- An endless tonic can be re-used, in contrast to its one-use consumable counterpart.
- A Black Lion Key can be used to unlock a Black Lion Chest.
Types of gizmos[edit]
- Container gizmos — use a vendor-like UI and use their own as exchange items, e.g. Commander's Choice Chests and some other WvW boxes
- Lore books — books that offer lore and information to the player via dialogue boxes or an audio play-back
- Portable exchangers (also called "converters" or "gobblers") — use a vendor-like UI to provide rewards in exchange for a currency or item
- Teleportation devices, e.g. Portal Scrolls and Lounge passes
- Novelties — Chairs, musical instruments, music boxes, held items, toys, and endless tonics — can be unlocked in the hero panel as novelties for the whole account or kept in the inventory as gizmos for a character
- World versus World Blueprints, Traps, and Tricks, including the Mist Sentry Turret. — although these items are classified as gizmos, they behave more like consumables
