Ipos Hookgill is the last surviving member of the Hook warband, stationed to protect Lake Feritas.

- The Hook warband has worked this lake since we left the fahrar. I'm the only one left. It won't be long, and we'll have a changing of the guard here at Lake Feritas.
What happened to the others in your warband?
- Over the years, they all died off, one at a time. I'm the last one alive, and I guess that makes me a gladium. I don't mind. I'll just keep on doing the job we were put here to do, until a new warband is assigned to fill our spots.
- What do you do out here?
- We were assigned by the previous tribune to maintain the lake. We've spent years making sure no one over-fishes it and that the waters remain clean and healthy. I've fought everything from skale to drakes to elementals in this lake. I'll be sad to leave it.
- What happened to the others in your warband?
- You think they'll replace you?
- They'll have to. I can't keep this up alone for much longer. Already, I need help whenever the Flame Legion or drakes flare up. I feel no shame. I've lived well and worked hard for the legions. I've sacrificed much, and I figure I'll go out fighting. It won't be long.
