Entry 7
Every time I need to venture out in search of another ingredient, I worry that I won't make it back. While my Inquest-designated ointments and remedies have kept the beetle toxin at bay, it's slowly starting to take hold of my better senses. My sense of smell dulls, my legs grow numb. The pain grows with every breath. And at the gwyldell's advanced stages of impact, its wings are beginning to grow thin.
Thankfully, I didn't need to travel far to find what I sought next. After the burn on my arm only worsened, I attempted crushing various leaves found throughout the forest. I found one in particular that had an immediate soothing effect when crushed into a paste. I rubbed it over the area and was immediately met with reprieve. I collected what I was able and returned to my hiding place to crush the rest.
As predicted, when folded into the sap before adding the floral pigment, the burning effect is minimized. I again tried administering the concoction to the gwyldell... And, finally! It took to the remedy and hardly made a noise.
