Ramses
Ramses is a Kryptis rebel and Peitha's closest ally. He has keen interest in Tyria and its people. While voicing his disdain for Eparch's suffocating rule, he displays knowledge of the sylvari.[1] Researcher Selly mentions Ramses in her notes, stating that he is approachable and verbose, open about his ideas and opinions and charming, although physically unappealing.[2]
Biography[edit]
Early years[edit]
After they learnt about Arina and her squad of Astral Ward members being stranded in Nayos in 1336 AE, Ramses and Peitha tracked them down to offer their assistance. Ramses stayed with the squad and helped them better acclimate to the Nayosian environment, while Peitha set her sights on the other person who had stumbled into Nayos alongside Arina's squad: the Pact Commander.
Secrets of the Obscure[edit]
Through the Veil[edit]
Ramses was supposed to be on guard duty when Peitha and the Pact Commander, who had earned the Wayfinder title as an ally of the Astral Ward, arrived in Inner Nayos later in the same year. Instead, he was occupied by an incoming assault of enemy Kryptis deeper in the Astral Ward Camp. Sensing fresh surge of emotions from the pair, Ramses was quick to notice that his master Peitha must have ventured to Tyria again. He informed the party that Heitor, Peitha's cousin, was responsible for the attack and leading the Kryptis forces in the region. During an introduction with the Wayfinder, Ramses's heightened senses once again made themselves known as he pointed out a "curious" smell of theirs. Later, during a private conversation Ramses explained another curious ability of Kryptis. He shared that the Wayfinder was a subject of many "dreams." He followed up with an explanation of that phenomenon, agreeing that it bore similarities to experiences of sylvari. At the same time, Ramses was clearly upset that the access to this ability was currently disrupted, for which he blamed Eparch, Midnight King of the Kryptis. Before ending the conversation with the Wayfinder, Ramses proclaimed his absolute faith in Peitha.
Once the Wayfinder was done with fieldwork in Inner Nayos, they were contacted by Ramses through telepathic means—a skill he has been taught by Peitha. He informed the Wayfinder that their actions had made an impact in the area and had left Heitor's soldiers "quaking," commending their work. Through his senses he managed to notice one more thing—a "disturbance, just out of sight"—and asked the Wayfinder to investigate it prior to returning to the camp. Upon arrival, an unusual Kryptis named Irja was found; not aggresive, instead cowering before the Wayfinder out of fear that they might be acting on Eparch's orders. Ramses then offered aid to the anxious Kryptis, providing comfort and encouraging her to interact with the members of the Astral Ward.
Later, Ramses was one of the individuals who joined an assault on Heitor's Gate, which resulted in the defeat of general Ignaxious, as well as a subsequent push deeper into the structure. At some point he was involved in scouting tasks, supposedly due to his extraordinary senses. He was able to reveal Heitor's presence inside, but not much else. Lack of proper knowledge of remaining enemy numbers prompted a decision to clear out the outside premises of any adversaries before heading inside. That delay has turned out to have terrible results. When the party finally made their way inside the structure, they were met with innumerable bodies—Astral Ward and Kryptis alike—and a scream of Irja, the friendly Kryptis encountered earlier. Unfortunately, she was killed by Heitor before the very eyes of the party as Heitor wanted to make a point about the fate that befell anyone opposing Eparch. A fight broke out in which Heitor was ultimately slain. Ramses remained by Irja's side as allied troops investigated the site in search for survivors and information.

- Ramses: Yes! That is right. The people of the Pale Tree have especially poignant dreams. Exciting and feverish.
- Ramses: Eparch has...stifled our ability to dream, however. As of late, the youngest of our kind have yet to experience any.
- Ramses: It is quite suffocating, the way he keeps them all to himself.
