Perhaps closer to being an order rather than a species, saurians refer to a wide variety of reptilian creatures. In the past, they could be found as far east as the Blood Legion Homelands, and as far west as the Tarnished Coast, but in modern Tyria, they seem to be localized to the Heart of Maguuma and the Ring of Fire islands. Another population inhabits the shores and forests of the island continent Castora. Being animals, saurians have no culture or hierarchy, and instead follow a simple pack alpha system of leadership. Some saurians, such as bristlebacks and tyrannus emperors, are made visually distinctive by their vibrantly-colored skin or feathers, which contrast the green scenery they are often found in.

Many saurians were among Mordremoth's first victims of being taken to Blighting Trees to create perfect copies.

Notes[edit]

While raptors are saurians in lore, mechanically they are their own species due to raptors existing before other saurians were added to the game.
In-game text refers to saurians as dinosaurs in a few places, most notably in the Siren's Reef Fractal.
