Default shown ingame is anecdotally 3. Person on gw2developer discord commented that because the difficulty # has been set on a "per portal" basis, it looks like ArenaNet have missed setting the difficulty for some (hence you end up with some obviously wrong difficulties, such as 3 dots for Forging Steel). -Chieftain Alex

- I think the 3 for Forging Steel is intentional to show its length (it should have been changed into a dungeon with this rework), it also gives more Magnetite Shards than most.
- Default is very likely 0, for example the open world portals for Aetherblade Hideout, Kaineng Overlook, and Harvest Temple show 0, as well as "Core Game". Xunlai Jade Junkyard's incorrectly shows 5 (but "End of Dragons"). All of these are missing descriptions and boss selection too. --Hazasoul (talk) 15:18, 11 February 2026 (UTC)
- well, I don't believe we can trust their difficulty setting logic here, Special Forces Training Area got raid entry ui and its difficulty set to 1. —Tᴇʀʏ.3065 04:37, 12 February 2026 (UTC)
- Yeah, it's more of a fallback on missing setting. They bothered to set it there, but "Raid Training" shows zero in Strike Missions (object). Not to mention public instances showing zero. --Hazasoul (talk) 04:54, 12 February 2026 (UTC)
