Pagename[edit]
Hi, thanks for all your work on the decorations project. One thing: would you mind using {{subst:pagename subst}} instead of {{PAGENAME}} in future? {{PAGENAME}} isn't really meant to be used outside of templates or widgets, from what I understand. Sunlion (talk) 03:21, 4 October 2024 (UTC)
- got it. I will use that and will fix some already changed page if available. --Tery3065 (talk) 03:48, 4 October 2024 (UTC)
- All my edit that contain
{{PAGENAME}}have been change to their actual page name.--Tery3065 (talk) 05:42, 4 October 2024 (UTC)
From 8 October 24 Decorations update note (Guild Wars 2 Wiki talk:Projects/Decorations)[edit]
I think we might have to create a nav for festivals at this point, since some of them are festival category only. -- Tery.3065

- The decoration nav was created as raw template. You can rework it however you desire. About the other decorations that are not showing in the workbench, they can still have pages on their own with the informations we know. We know the recipe id meaning you can get the API code. Use that in game chat to see the recipe and what you need to "craft" it. You can see it at Kodan Fish Tank. --

- Thank you for explaining about API. and for Template, yes I know about that, since I'm the guy starting on those decoration templates. but as you can see this is just an update note. -- Tery.3065
02:20, 9 October 2024 (UTC)
- Then if you have time, you can take a look at the old one
Template:Homestead decorations nav. And change all those that are still linked to it before marking it for deletion ;) --
Sworly 02:25, 9 October 2024 (UTC)
- I checked it as I'm making a split nav. Everything should be changed and unlinked. unless theirs're some newer edited.-- Tery.3065
02:29, 9 October 2024 (UTC)
- You can always take a look at the "What links here". There are still plenty of more in the list that has the old nav - https://wiki.gw2.org.cn/index.php?title=Special:WhatLinksHere/Template:Homestead_decorations_nav&limit=500 --

- TY for your advise anyway I have a lot to learn about wiki editing :D-- Tery.3065
03:01, 9 October 2024 (UTC)
- Then before I will go sleep one last advice. We can teach you more things. Where to find them or where to look. We can give you "advice". But you should never listen to orders. Wiki changes all the time and people change oppinions almost every day. If it is from an editor, mod or admin, dont fall into self doubt. You are doing well and if they want something to be changed, then they can do it themselfs. Good night o/ --

Delicate Ash[edit]
To be sure: the dialogue pops up when you interact with them using F (or whatever the interact button is bound to), right? Sunlion (talk) 23:50, 18 November 2024 (UTC)
- No, it's greeting msg when player nearby the NPC. -- Tery.3065
23:53, 18 November 2024 (UTC)
- In that case, it should go on the Ambient dialogue section of Old Hutment Site. Quotes are dialogue that triggers requiring player interaction (pressing the Interact key, or attacking the NPC), ambient dialogue triggers on its own without any need for player input. Sunlion (talk) 00:09, 19 November 2024 (UTC)
- Then Soaring Crest>Quotes (and others Heart objective NPCs) is the same? It's triggered the same way. And yes I'm a bit confused between "Dialogue", "Quotes", and "Ambient dialogue"-- Tery.3065
00:14, 19 November 2024 (UTC)
- If it triggers on its own outside of an event, it goes on the area's Ambient dialogue section. Dialogue sections on NPC pages are for dialogue boxes. Quotes are for dialogue on pressing the Interact key (Greets), on entering combat (Aggro) or leaving it (Upon exiting combat), on dying (Upon death), and some other things that usually don't come up (downing or defeating a player, for example). So yeah, those NPCs should have their quotes sections moved into their area's Ambient dialogue section, I think. For Soaring Crest, I'm not sure where the burning crops dialogue would go. It requires player interaction but not with the NPC directly, so I'm a little hesitant to put it in Ambient dialogue or Quotes. Sunlion (talk) 00:27, 19 November 2024 (UTC)

Delete request[edit]
Hey Tery3065, I saw your delete request for [[:File:Endless Bearkin Combat Tonic.jpg]] - the tonic appears to hold an axe - compared to File:Skiff Rental Manager.jpg using no weapon. Per Guild Wars 2 Wiki:Projects/Shared Model Project a seperate image should be used. Thank you so much for sorting though the numerous Kodan images! Happy editing! —Kvothe (talk) 21:42, 9 December 2024 (UTC)
- Weapon is player choice; the tonic itself is weaponless so I think plain model should be better for them. I added note about what this tonic can do in its page Endless Bearkin Combat Tonic#Notes, and yea adding it to gallery might be a good idea for an example. -- Tery.3065

| Thank you for all your hard work uploading and improving screenshots for SotO and JW! You've been doing a fantastic job even with the NPCs that are annoying to get screenshots of (the skyscale riders in Skywatch come to mind) and you've done a wonderful job on decoration screenshots, too! Decoration pages reverts[edit]
Hi, regarding your editing and reverts for the homestead decorations - IMO it's not necessary to have | requires = parameter set for the items that you can easily obtain through the trading post/other players. I can see the intention for the sake of the items or mats coming from certain expansion or content, but in the case of Congealed Putrescence, I did remove it because it is TRADABLE, so you can simply buy it from other players. If it was non-tradable, then I wouldn't see an issue of keeping the requirement there. This applies to all the previous edits, as well as today's. There wasn't any objection before, so I don't see it being an issue now either. ฅ𓂃𓏧♡ vyѕɴɑιтε ᨐᵉᵒʷฅ (тɑʟκ) 10:48, 14 April 2025 (UTC)
- Then your right! if TP able it not a requirement so I'm revert my edit now. Could be more decor similar to this so. --𝙏ᴇʀʏ 10:53, 14 April 2025 (UTC)

Template:NPC location list[edit]
This template, whilst currently functional, is something I'd rather not use. As highlighted by the vandal spree the other day, having big nested location data dependent on the parent of a parent page being correct can be broken pretty easily (just like when we do a mediawiki update). -Chieftain Alex
23:12, 5 July 2025 (UTC)
- I'm just notice that, but all (or the most) of WvW NPCs currently used that template should it change to regular format then? i.e. Elvie the Warclaw Tender
== Locations ==
{{NPC location list}}
*[[Armistice Bastion]]
- At the moment, the area pages query each NPC page to figure out the service and canonical name of the NPC.
- If you then make the NPC page query each area to figure out where the NPC is located, you setup a small feedback loop.
- Now think what happens when you purge the SMW properties on both pages at once... or edit both infobox templates. it's a bigger feedback loop and small updates on both pages fight with each other. It's part of why our wiki takes so long to rebuild after a semantic mediawiki update of the database. -Chieftain Alex

- All those edits were already reverted btw, should these Special:WhatLinksHere/Template:NPC location list NPCs edit too? If so, I don't mind manually fix them. --Tᴇʀʏ.3065 08:09, 6 July 2025 (UTC)
Rifts maps[edit]
Hey I saw you replacing some of my rift maps with higher graphics screenshots and neater circles so thank you for that I love them! I was wondering how you make the brushstroke style circles? Also do you plan to go back and do the same style of rift circles for all previous rift maps? Because now we have different styles and it looks a bit messy but I also don't want to make it your responsibility so idk let me know your thoughts? ♡ --Perpugilliam 15:30, 11 July 2025 (UTC+2)
- Here for circles, File:Event Mark.png directly from dat file. I might redo all the maps sometime later, but if you're willing to do it, feel free to go ahead. --Tᴇʀʏ.3065 13:48, 11 July 2025 (UTC)
Eikasia, Mists-Grasper[edit]
1) Why did you remove the ingredients box?
2) Why are you directing people to go OUTSIDE the wiki, when the ingredients box WAS working absolutely fine.
- I had fixed the heavy gloves page, by removing the "| no subobject = y" and I was going to fix the the light and medium pages later.
- Using the wiki itself is substantially faster than waiting for gw2e page to load.
Also, do you know how I can add a comment to a page, without changing anything on the page? After I fixed the heavy gloves page, I tried twice to add a comment saying that the problem had been fixed, but the comment didn't show up in the history.
TY for your response. Frostty1 15:54, 6 October 2025 (UTC)
- It creates a property and subobject that used by templates, occurring on "Used in" section in "ingredient" pages in this case: Gift of Magical Prosperity#Used in. And this is not the ways to add non-crafting item.
- This is what we did for the most of complex item crafting and this is what Bureaucrat did to orrax [1]
- What you did is not "fixing" see (1).
- If you have question or commenting use Talk:Eikasia, Mists-Grasper or related discussion pages. --—Tᴇʀʏ.3065 16:07, 6 October 2025 (UTC)
Tango icons work for VoE expansion[edit]
Hey, first of all, I want to thank you for recreating the Tango version of the VoE specialization icons. I know that most GW2 wikis no longer use them, but that's not the case for the French wiki and this is really appreciated !
I've noticed that the 200px and 48px/20px versions sometimes have differences about the viewing angle. This is especially true for the
Evoker,
Troubadour or
Luminary where the spec icon isn't facing forward in their 48px/20px version. Do you know if this is due to the original image or if it was intentional ?
Which leads me to my main question : according to you, do you think it would be possible to work on the 200px version to resize it to 48px and 20px, keeping the viewing angle and maybe accentuate the border, like the previous tango icons ? Or would that be to much work for too little result nor it could compromise its readability too much ? --Xylllom (discussion • contributions • journal ) 18:31, 3 November 2025 (UTC)
- Hi! because I made these just right when the icons were revealed based on Guild Wars 2: Visions of Eternity#Promotional material for my discord server emoji. And when they were launched the beta event I only updated 200px for those four specs (Evoker, Troubadour, Paragon, and Luminary).
For resizing to smaller version, I will find time to upload them :)- Well, they're up now, these might do it :) —Tᴇʀʏ.3065 20:12, 3 November 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks a lot for the quick edit and upload, they'll certainly make good use of these icons ! --Xylllom (discussion • contributions • journal ) 21:13, 3 November 2025 (UTC)
VOE articles and Fractal Incursion[edit]
I'm new to editing the wiki. I've been trying to add information to help other players not get as lost as I was. When VOE released, I made a walkthrough for the Achievement Proper Mixologist with screenshots since I couldn't find all the ingredients when I was trying to do the heart. At the time, there was no page for the heart, achievements, or really any pages for events in the new zone. I tried to mimic pages from Janthir Wilds to get the rough layout of the page but now I see that the whole page is gone and redirected to the page for the heart. I've tried to copy over the content but you removed some of it, saying it was redundant.
A similar thing happened on the Fractal Incusion page, where I tried to add more content, and you reverted it, and I didn't know why.
What can I do to prevent you from reverting or removing content I add? I'm trying to do it properly, but I didn't know what I've done wrong. I totally understand and welcome people editing what I write, but it feels sad to put forth a lot of effort and have it erased. As I try to add to the wiki in the future, what should I be doing differently —The preceding unsigned comment was added by GuildWarsLibrarian (talk • contribs).
- Hi! first I respect you that getting information for the articles and don't be discouraged being reverted, but the text you have written are lack of readability and it doesn't fit the page format I would say, for the Achievement Proper Mixologist, everything that needed for completing the achievement already there in the heart page with a simple text that people can easily follow. Same for the Fractal Incursion, too much info will just hide the point of where reader should be looking at. And last thing, if you think my edits are removed something important, just re-adding them but for me made it simpler = better as I know people are having a bad time reading things

- For some achievements a standalone guide makes sense, for others they're going to be naturally obtained by just doing a certain activity (e.g. an achievement during a story step, a heart). Having taken a look at your original revision, which was really quite a decent attempt at an achievement guide, it's quite a tough call on whether a separate page is warranted.
- There is a lot of overlap content-wise that fits into Help Pub Canach grow into a lucrative business.
- However there is a predecent for a previous similar achievement back in Janthir Wilds (Cultural Culinary Comprehension) which did get a guide... and by the looks of things is less good than yours. I'd suggest we could probably have a separate guide page in this instance... -Chieftain Alex
