Volatile Magic (object)

Orbs of Volatile Magic can be found floating in locations heavily affected by the explosive release of magic into Tyria following the death of Balthazar and two Elder Dragons. Touching one will deposit a small amount of Volatile Magic into the player's wallet and replenishes mount's endurance. The ability to gather these orbs must be unlocked via the mastery Volatile Magic Resonance.

    • The Grotto
      • Point of interest (map icon).png Deldrimor Cellars - 44 orbs scattered around the area
      • Point of interest (map icon).png Grand Lyceum - 44 orbs in the arena, counting until the western doorframe
    • Symphony's Haven
      • From Waypoint (map icon).png Moorage Waypoint fly east and south - 25 orbs in a chain along the branded valley
    • The Weeping Crest
    • Hundar Pike
    • The Howling Cliffs
      • From the cave exit coming from Point of interest (map icon).png Sorrow's Cave along the waterfalls - 62 orbs in a long chain (the first part starts in Hundar Pike)
    • Dredgeways
    • Ice Floe
      • Starting at Waypoint (map icon).png Revolution's Heart Waypoint (in the Dredgeways) - 51 orbs in a chain above the water

Event involvement[edit]

Volatile Magic orbs will spawn on the ground as rewards for completing the following events:

Bounty Target.png [Group Event] Defeat the Legendary bounty (80)

Contents[edit]

  • Random amount of Volatile Magic.png, depending on the subtype of orb, in Season 4 maps:
  • 1,270 Experience.png(small phasing orbs in Jahai Bluffs) or 2,540 Experience.png(all others, both large and small)

Notes[edit]

  • A total of 250 orbs can be picked up daily per account. This limit resets every day.
    • With the exception of the phasing orbs in Jahai Bluffs, all orbs count as one unit towards this limit. The phasing orbs count half.
  • When the daily limit is reached, the remaining orbs visibly disappear. They will reappear after the daily reset.
  • Each individual orb has a 24 hour cooldown per character and per instance. Changing map instances allows you to pick up new orbs in the old locations.
