Dialogue[edit]
- Talking to him once a day
- (if Hullgarden Renown Mastery progress is at 0/14 or 7/14)
- "The sea is like...an...ocean? Uh, a blue...thing?" This is hopeless.
- Writing another song?
- Another day, another shanty. And I'm out of ideas for lyrics. It's about a traveler!
- I can help.
- "We set adrift on seas of blue..."
- "A band of sailors, a mighty crew." (same as below)
- "Far from home, from those I knew." (same as below)
- "The color of how I felt, it's true."
- Love it. Next. "The journey long, the end unsure..."
- "Our hearts were full, intentions pure." (same as below)
- "Distant shores beyond the azure." (same as below)
- "But we've all succumbed to the sea's allure."
- Good, good. Last one, "And when we land, our treasures found..."
- "We'll drink to the lost; our sorrows we'll drown." (same as below)
- "The gold may be spent, but we'll keep the renown!" (same as below)
- "I'll soon once more be ocean bound."
- Wow, great! The others are going to be impressed!
- No problem!
- This isn't my area of expertise.
- Sorry, I'm busy.
- (if Hullgarden Renown Mastery progress is at 1/14 or 8/14)
- "Boat lost? Boat crashed?" Eh, this isn't working.
- Need some help?
- Definitely. When you've written as many of these as I have, it can be tough to come up with new ideas! Can you help me write something about being shipwrecked?
- I've written a lot of journals. I understand. Let's go.
- "A wicked storm, waves batter the hull..."
- "The might of the ocean, there's no stronger pull." (same as below)
- "Like the horn of a ram, the charge of a bull!" (same as below)
- "Alas I'm trapped; would that I were a gull!"
- Good, good! "With wreckage I paddle, an atoll found..."
- "I row toward land, 'tis there that I'm bound." (same as below)
- "Smashed in the shallows, waves nipping like hounds!" (same as below)
- "A breath, and another; please don't let me drown!"
- All right! Not bad! Last one. "For now I am stranded, though I'm in one piece..."
- "Better stranded than being a shark's feast!" (same as below)
- "Surviving Castora beats resting in peace!" (same as below)
- "Would someone else wash up here, at least?"
- This is gold. Pure gold. Thanks so much, you're the best!
- No problem!
- I'll leave you to it.
- I'm busy right now, sorry.
- (if Hullgarden Renown Mastery progress is at 2/14 or 9/14)
- "Never to be seen again. Something about...the wind?" Ugh, this is hard!
- What are you up to?
- Feeling sentimental. Thought I'd try to write a song for my wife. On the mainland. I miss her. It's been years.
- Do you need help?
- (deep breath) Okay. This is going to be tough. Here we go. "Still I love, but she's no way to know..."
- "My life swept away by undertow." (same as below)
- "Washed ashore by sea's cruel flow." (same as below)
- "Don't blame me, love. Blame the crabs, though!"
- I've...I've just to get through this. "Separate lives, an ocean between..."
- "Countless waves of white and green." (same as below)
- "A peasant pining for a queen." (same as below)
- "Not going to lie, this fate is downright mean."
- It's going to be okay. I've got this, I promise. Last one. "This burden of loss forever I'll carry..."
- "Find happiness, my love; my feelings I'll bury." (same as below)
- "Why, oh why, did life go so unfairly?" (same as below)
- "Ah, forget it—she's probably remarried."
- I did it! We did it. Okay. Good. I... Thanks.
- No problem!
- That's rough. Sorry.
- I'll leave you to it.
- (if Hullgarden Renown Mastery progress is at 3/14 or 10/14)
- Ever get writer's block? Well I've got it, let me tell you. Need to write a song, but, ugh, I'm struggling.
- Need help?
- Thought you'd never ask. Yes, yes I do! Not sure what direction to go with this one...
- All right, I'm feeling creative. Let's do this.
- Okay, here we go. "Home once lay in distant lands..."
- "O'er the waves, across the sands." (same as below)
- "Of windswept plains and verdant stands." (same as below)
- "Turns out the ocean had other plans."
- Okay, not bad. Now... "Here we've made a life anew..."
- "Where shores gleam gold and waters blue." (same as below)
- "With toil aplenty and respites few." (same as below)
- "Couldn't get back. What else could we do?"
- Right, okay, writing that down. "And while to memory we often do cling..."
- "It's Castora's beauty of which we now sing!" (same as below)
- "We must leave winters past for Hullgarden's spring." (same as below)
- "The grog makes you buzz like...like...like a wavehawk's wing!"
- Wow. That's really something. Wasn't expecting something so...indescribable. Thanks!
- My pleasure.
- I'm not in the right head space. Sorry.
- I can't right now.
- (if Hullgarden Renown Mastery progress is at 4/14 or 11/14)
- "Ahoy, me hearties, now we go party!" Ahem. No. No good.
- Need help with something?
- Do we ever. We're working on a sea shanty now. I'm in charge of the lyrics. It's about having a fun time, nothing too serious. You want to give it a shot?
- Let's do this.
- All right, here's what I've got. "Arrive at the tavern, loot galore..."
- "...my crew and I, a dozen, a score." (same as below)
- "I order a stew and a grog, then three more." (same as below)
- "My mates were too rowdy, many kicked out the door."
- Clever! Okay, next line. "A bard, he called me up to the stage..."
- "A singer I'm not; I must be brave!" (same as below)
- "...The crowd, they cheered, they clapped, they waved!" (same as below)
- "A song of adventure made the crew rave!"
- Fun! Last one. "And when the night of fun was through..."
- "We returned to the ship with memories new!" (same as below)
- "A well-earned rest for me and me crew!" (same as below)
- "The laughs were many, the headaches...a few."
- Now this is art. I'm blown away!
- No problem!
- Can't help right now, sorry.
- I'll leave you to it.
- (if Hullgarden Renown Mastery progress is at 5/14 or 12/14)
- "A bird flits above the ship..." (sighs) There's no artistry to this. It's lacking a certain something...
- What bird?
- Ah, hello! Not a literal bird, friend, but the subject of my song. I am rather stuck. Would you happen to have any ideas?
- Let's find out!
- I'm writing this from the perspective of the bird. It starts like this: "The breeze, how fresh, how grand it is..."
- "My feathers light, I glide with ease." (same as below)
- "The sea below a raging fizz." (same as below)
- "Horizon ahead, the sun, it sets."
- Does that rhyme? Ah, well, let's go with it. What about this, "A ship ahead, I go to perch..."
- "A nest for crows, where sailors search." (same as below)
- "The pleasant waft of salt and birch." (same as below)
- "My wings a prayer, the sky a church."
- Better. Last one, "When morn comes to the land once more..."
- "I turn my eyes toward distant shores!" (same as below)
- "I can only hope the rain won't pour." (same as below)
- "On sea's breeze my wings will soar."
- Only a fool would not appreciate the splendor of this songwriting. Amazing!
- No problem!
- Sorry, fresh out.
- I'll leave you to it.
- (if Hullgarden Renown Mastery progress is at 6/14 or 13/14)
- "Treasure golden, treasure orange..." Oh no. What rhymes with orange?
- Not much, I'm afraid.
- Yeah... Clearly I could use some more help. This one's about treasure. Want to help?
- Sure. Go ahead and start.
- "Treasure! Wow! I sure found a lot!"
- "I think with this I'll purchase a plot." (same as below)
- "I must hide it away—it must not be got." (same as below)
- "My future, it is no longer fraught!"
- Nice one! This is gonna be good! "Oh no, oh boy, the crew is not pleased..."
- "The treasure, alas! It was infested with fleas!" (same as below)
- "It's locked! Does anybody, uh, have the keys?" (same as below)
- "For I told them, 'Hands off! This belongs all to me!'"
- (snorts) Heh, funny. Okay, last one, "When treasure's a problem, you know what they say..."
- "The brig is where I'm doomed to stay!" (same as below)
- "Do not hoard riches, or there'll be hell to pay." (same as below)
- "Love of coin turns your morals gray."
- This is great! Funny stuff.
- No problem!
- I can't help. Sorry.
- I'll leave you to it.
- (if Hullgarden Renown Mastery progress is at 14/14)
- Oh, hey, there you are! Been looking for you!
- Why's that?
- I want to write a song about you, but I'd like your input!
- Huh. All right. How can I help?
- All right, here we go! "Now I'll tell you the tale of a hero..."
- "Strong and brave and true." (same as below)
- "Kind and loyal and true." (same as below)
- "Quick and clever and true."
- "Who vanquished the evils of Tyria vast..."
- "Guiding their people through." (same as below)
- "Running their enemies through." (same as below)
- "Outsmarting more than a few."
- "To Castora they came, in our hour of need..."
- "To quell a freebooter coup!" (same as below)
- "To give the Inquest the boot!" (same as below)
- "To help write a shanty or two!"
- Ha! Good, good! Well, thank you for all you have done to help Tyria and Castora. I'm looking forward to returning home to see all the good you've done!
- Thanks, Jim!
- That's okay, you don't need to do that.
- I'm busy right now, sorry.
- Talking to again on the same day
- (Hullgarden Renown Mastery tier 1 or 2)
- Hi! Thanks for checkin', but I don't need any help at the moment. Check back tomorrow?
- See you then.
- (Hullgarden Renown Mastery tier 3, 4 or 5)
- Hey, my friend! Don't need your songwriting skills just yet. Taking a little breather. Come back tomorrow, will you?
- No problem!
