Level-up guide - Level 3 Rewards

Inventory Menu Bar icon.png The inventory (default I) is a panel which displays all the items carried by a character, as well as their supply of coins and other currencies. Each character starts with a Starter Backpack providing 20 inventory slots. Bags can be equipped to expand the inventory slots available, and more bag slots can be unlocked with Bag Slot Expansions.

Mechanics[edit]

Buttons[edit]

  • Deposit All Materials.png Deposit All Materials — Instantly transfer to your account vault all items that have a reserved space in the Material Storage tab there.
  • Compact.png Compact — Move all items to the first available space in inventory.
  • Game menu options icon.png Options
    • Show / Hide Rarity — Display a colored border around items depending on their quality.
    • Show / Hide New Item Highlights - Icons of items newly created in a character's inventory will glow when first added or when their stack is increased. The glow will be brighter first, and fade to a dimmer glow, and persist until either the item is clicked in the inventory, or the inventory panel is closed.
    • Show / Hide Bags — Present the storage area as individual bags, or combine all slots into a single group.
    • Embed / Separate Shared Bag - When "Hide Bags" is turned on, this will control whether or not the shared bag slots are kept on a separate line with a margin, or if normal inventory slots continue off the same line.
Shown bags
  • If the setting to show bags is enabled, additional interactions are available:
    • Each bar is separated by a header, which can be clicked to collapse and hide their content. The state of collapsed bags is also used in similar interfaces like the bank.
    • Clicking on a used bag slot in the left bar will autoscroll that bag to the top of the inventory.

Currencies[edit]

  • The bar at the bottom of the panel shows your account's coins (Gold coin gold, Silver coin silver, and Copper coin copper)
  • Additional currencies (and tokens), such as KarmaKarma, are also shown depending on the current map.
  • The Currency button on the left can be clicked to open your wallet and show a list of all currencies.

Search[edit]

The inventory has a search function to filter items, similar to the bank. The search bar will match any names, descriptions, flavor text, or item types partially containing the term. Item binding (e.g. account bound) cannot be searched for. Numbers will also search in stack size and level requirement. Equipment can additionally be searched for by rarity, weapon strength and armor defense, but other stat attributes cannot be searched for neither by name nor value.

Interaction[edit]

Double-click an item in your inventory to equip or use. Right-click an item to display other item options (not all options are available for an item, some options may be visible but not usable for some items):

  • Equip (if it is equipable by your character — will prompt to confirm for items that are soulbound on use)
  • Equip (Aquatic) (Spear only, requires Guild Wars 2: Janthir Wilds. Available after training the mastery Lowland Spear Training)
  • Equip in Off Hand
  • Preview (if it is an equipment or some containers like the Black Lion Chest)
  • Customize (if it is an equipment)
  • Store in Wardrobe
  • Use (if it is a consumable)
  • Salvage Options for Salvage Kits
    • Salvage all Fine and Lower
    • Salvage all Masterwork and Lower
    • Salvage all Rares
  • Item Collection Achievement (Displays the collection of which it is a part)
  • Unlock Skin (for equipment new to the account)
  • Deposit Material
  • Mail item to... (to send it to another player through the mail)
  • Sell at Trading Post (to see its value on the Trading Post)
  • Buy more at Trading Post (to search for this item on the Trading Post)
  • Open Crafting Station with Item (if it is a crafting material or it can be crafted from materials, like upgrade components. This option searches for this item on the nearby crafting station)
  • Open Crafting Preview with Item (Same as above but searching for unlocked recipes of this item from all crafting disciplines available on the current character)
  • Destroy (Displays Yes/No prompt to confirm/stop destruction)
    • Some items further require that their (case sensitive) name be entered before they can be destroyed.
  • Use All (for some consumables)
Stacking
  • Stackable items can stack up to 250 per inventory space.
  • Most crafting materials, junk, and containers are stackable. Equipment is never stackable.
  • Some seemingly identical items may not stack if they have different acquisition methods (not the same item ID).
Item interaction

Drag an item to a bag in the column on the left to put that item in the first empty space in that bag.

  • Ctrl+Click: Will instantly link the item to the current chat channel.
  • Shift+Click: Will input the item link into the chat box, but not send it, allowing the message to be edited.
  • Alt+Click and drag the item to an empty inventory space: Split a stack in two. A dialog will prompt you to enter the quantity for the new stack.

Encumbered[edit]

If you acquire loot while your character's inventory is full, the excess loot will queue in a separate panel titled "You are Encumbered!". It will remain with that character even if you switch maps or log out, until you clear some inventory space.

Expansion[edit]

Extra bags offer additional storage space (from 4 to 32 slots per). Bags may be purchased from vendors, found as drops, obtained as Personal story or Living World rewards, or crafted by any of the armor-crafting disciplines: Armorsmith, Leatherworker, or Tailor.

Currently, the maximum number of inventory slots is:

Types of bags[edit]

Primary article: Bag

Some bags have special functions:

  • Oiled Packs — Looted junk is placed here first. Items in this bag are not affected by inventory sorting.
  • Craftsman's Bags — Looted crafting materials are placed here first. Items in this bag are not affected by inventory sorting.
  • Equipment Boxes — Looted weapons and armor are placed here first. Items in this bag are not affected by inventory sorting.
    • Fractal Equipment Boxes further refine this by also filtering by rarity (3 versions: Exotic, Rare & Uncommon).
  • Invisible Bags/Safe Boxes — Items in the bag never appear in sell lists at vendors and the Trading Post, and are not affected by inventory sorting.
  • Equipment Pact Boxes — Looted weapons and armor are placed here first. Items in the bag never appear in sell lists at vendors and the Trading Post, and are not affected by inventory sorting.
  • Siegemaster's Satchels — Looted consumables are placed here first. Items in this bag are not affected by inventory sorting.
  • Olmakhan Bandoliers — Looted containers and consumables are placed here first. Items in this bag are not affected by inventory sorting.

Shared Inventory Slots[edit]

Primary article: Shared Inventory Slot

Contents of Shared Inventory Slots can be accessed by all characters on the account. Soulbound items and equipment that soulbind on use cannot be placed in these slots. The slots can be shown either at the top or bottom of the inventory by dragging the indicator in the left-hand bag list.

Tips[edit]

Search
  • "o o" notably shows containers with the description "Double-click to open."
  • "250" shows full stacks of items.
  • After finding an item, it can be clicked and dragged while removing the search content with Backspace in order to place it in a specific slot of the inventory.
Interaction
  • Splitting a stack into all but 1 can be achieved by typing any large number like 333, and clicking the down-arrow once.
  • If an item requires delete confirmation, it can be shift-clicked into the chat box in order to copy the name.
  • Unknown items can be prepended with "/wiki " and shift-clicked to open its wiki page.

  • You cannot equip or unequip items during combat.
  • Free to play characters start with 3 bag slots instead of 5; upgrading to a full account will unlock these two additional slots.
