Open for business! is a mini-game that can be played in Homestead triggered by using the Café Console. The game is essentially a cafè simulator where you need to serve food and drinks to customers. Upgrades can be bought at the Café Console for Café Coins, which allow you to increase the throughput of your café by e.g. increasing the number of seats, increasing the number of customers, or by directly increasing the rewards.
To start the game, interact with the Café Console and open the café for business. This requires 1 Café Activation Token. You can also open the café for free in testing mode to practice and to test your setup, but this will not give any rewards.
Outside of April Fools' Day 2025, opening the café for business is not available but you can open it for a private gathering instead. During the private gathering, no upgrades except your placed stations will have any effect.
Objectives[edit]
- Customers served: <counter>
- Food sales: <counter>
- Water sales: <counter> (requires Homestead Decoration: Café Drink Station)
- Toy sales: <counter> (requires Homestead Decoration: Café Souvenir Station)
- Tips: <counter> (requires Upgrade: "Tips Welcome" Sign)
- Time until closing: 3:00 (Time can change depending on Upgrade: Business Hours (Long) or Upgrade: Business Hours (Nocturnal))
Walkthrough[edit]
Event can be started and cancelled at Café Console. It is free to start in testing mode, but requires one Café Activation Token to be rewarded any Café Coins.
After starting the event, Café Customers (or Café Testers only in testing mode) will spawn from Homestead Waypoint, or the Café Transporter if one exists. They will walk to Café Chairs (pathfinding can be improved by placing Café Guide Beacons). After being seated, they will request food, drink, or souvenir (if the respective upgrade have been unlocked).
Pick up the requested item from the stations (Food, Drink, or Souvenir) and bring it to them. Upon being given the requested item, they will have the Infatuated effect. Soon after they have received the requested item, they will leave, clearing the seat for another customer. If the customer is not served, an enrage icon will appear above their head, signifying that they will leave soon if they continue to be ignored.
Upgrades[edit]
The upgrades that are available at the Café Console highly impact the way the game works.
- You start with 3 chairs but this can be upgraded to 10 chairs. More seats will not automatically result in more customers though.
- Advertising upgrades will increase the number of customers that arrive at each day.
- Initially, every food sale will profit in 1 Café Coin. Upgrading the food quality (Premium Cans and Hydra-Lasered) will upgrade the profit to 2 and 3 coins respectively.
- After unlocking drinks, every drink sale will profit in 2 Café Coins. Upgrading the water quality (Filtered and Fountain System) will upgrade the profit to 3 and 4 coins respectively.
- After unlocking souvenirs, every souvenir sale will profit in 3 Café Coins. Upgrading the souvenir quality (Attractive Feathers and Attached Bell) will upgrade the profit to 4 and 5 coins respectively.
- Tip upgrades will unlock the chance to get tips when making sales. Higher upgrades result in higher chances.
- Business Hours upgrades (Long and Nocturnal) will increase the duration of event by 30 seconds, from 3:00 to 3:30 and 4:00.
- Each of the waiter upgrades (Alpha, Gamma, and Zeta) will increase the number of Café Waiters by 1, bringing the total from 0 to 3 at max upgrades.
- Complimentary Treats will increase the accepted wait time before a customer gets enraged.
- Zoomies will grant swiftness to the customers.
- Investment in Employees does not affect running the cafe, only what you can purchase with the coins.
Customers will start demanding drinks or souvenirs as soon as the upgrade has been unlocked so make a strategic decision when to unlock these items since it will increase the complexity during the opening time.
Rewards[edit]
- When the café was opened for business:
- Café Coin (guaranteed)
- Golden Café Coin (guaranteed)
- No rewards are given when the café was opened in testing mode.
The number of Café Coins rewarded depends on the profits that were made during the open time of the café. Each food or drink sale will result in a number of coins depending on the food or drink upgrade. Tips will be added on top.

Trivia[edit]
- This game seems to be inspired by restaurant simulations like Diner Dash.
- This event also seems to be a play on 'Cat Cafés,' which are cafés with cats to interact with. Instead of the Commander having a café with cats that serve people, they created a café that serves cats.
