This idea is inspired by secondary professions from the original Guild Wars.
Common Mechanics[edit]
- Each secondary specialization has an associated profession.
- Characters cannot select a secondary specialization for their own profession (e.g. a Guardian wouldn't be able to select the Guardian secondary specialization, Willpower).
- Secondary specializations can only be equipped in the third specialization slot, much like elite specializations.
- Secondary specializations offer a flexible Proficiency that allows the selection of any single weapon from the associated profession.
- The weapon selected will offer the skills for the associated profession.
- If a one-handed weapon that the associated profession can dual wield is selected, then the character also becomes able to dual-wield that weapon.
- If a character selects a weapon Proficiency that overlaps with their profession's weapon proficiencies, they will replace their normal profession weapon skills for that weapon with those from their secondary specialization's associated profession.
- For example, a Mesmer who selected Greatsword Proficiency from the Warrior secondary specialization Brawn would have access to the Warrior greatsword skills instead of the Mesmer greatsword skills.
- Secondary specializations offer access to the healing and utility skills of the associated profession, but not elite skills.
- Secondary specializations offer limited access to the associated profession's exclusive mechanics, usually through the F5 slot.
