Introduction[edit]

Say, you just geared up your new character to level 80, or you just came back from years-long hiatus and you are met with too many relic options to pick from. Where do you go from here?

Even the cheapest relic would cost around 10 Gold coin (not including expansion relics, which requires its own currency altogether). While a relic is better than no relic, picking the right relic for the right job goes a long way in helping you stay alive in Open World PvE, whether by killing things faster than they can kill you, or simply giving you more breathing room during a fight. Some builds may even require a certain relic to function, making it a vital component in that particular build.

Note that this page assumes you're looking for a relic to play in PvE Open World. I will not be focusing on competitive game modes, or even group/instanced content, as I have a very limited experience in those areas. Rather, I'll do my best to give an insight on what each of these relics can do and see which works best when you're trying to get as much participation as possible in Mad King's Labyrinth, or trying not to die from Mordrem Guard Sniper on that one hero point challenge.

Choosing a relic[edit]

Not all relics are created equal; some give you a lot of value and works well across multiple builds, others best reserved for specific use cases, then there are ones that are simply not worth taking, ranging from existing just because, or giving the user so little it might as well not be taken at all.

Meta Picks[edit]

These are the relics often seen in various Open World builds from Snowcrows, Metabattle, to name a few. Many of these relics either provide what is missing in your build, or increase your damage with a relative ease, which is always welcome in PvE.

Relic Effects Notes
Relic of the Thief.pngRelic of the Thief Upon striking an enemy with a weapon skill that has a recharge or resource cost, gain increased strike damage. When this triggers, refresh the duration of all stacks. Effectively provides 5% damage mod for free, as long as you keep using your skills.
Relic of Fireworks.pngRelic of Fireworks Upon dealing strike damage using a weapon skill with a recharge time of 20 seconds or more, deal increased strike damage for a duration. Refreshes duration on stack. The damage mod is better and more consistent than the above, but requires certain skills to activate.
Relic of the Claw.pngRelic of the Claw Deal increased strike damage for a duration after you disable a foe. Similar to Fireworks, but activated via crowd control skills instead.
Relic of the Eagle.pngRelic of the Eagle Deal increased strike damage to low-health enemies. A power alternative that does not require any active inputs from the user.
Relic of the Pirate Queen.pngRelic of the Pirate Queen Gain quickness when you disable a foe. Provides a more-than-enough coverage of personal quickness duration, even with just few CCs.
Relic of Mistburn.pngRelic of Mistburn When you grant might to yourself, grant yourself additional might. Gain increased critical-strike chance while at or above the might threshold. An easy way to max out your Critical Chance.png Critical Chance if your build lacks traits that would otherwise fill the gap.
Relic of the Cavalier.pngRelic of the Cavalier Grant yourself aegis, quickness, swiftness, resistance, and might when striking an enemy with your mount's engage skill. Makes you overloaded with boons any time you engage with your mount. Easily spammable with Skyscale (map icon).png Skyscale.
Relic of Zakiros.pngRelic of Zakiros While you are under the effects of fury, convert a percentage of your outgoing critical-strike damage into healing. Provides sustain as long as the user is under the effect of Fury.png Fury.
