Luminary
“"The light binds us!"
The Iron and Flame Legions worked in collaboration to harness radiant flame magic, creating a brazier for guardians to carry into battle. This powerful torch gives the guardian who wields it access to protective magic, making luminaries symbols of hope among the charr.
— In-game description
Luminary is an elite specialization for the guardian unlocked with the Visions of Eternity expansion.[1]
Luminaries are guardians, stalwart combatants on the battlefield capable of putting out respectable damage or supporting their allies. Their brazier provides energy for the Radiant Forge, in which they are able to wield various weapons of light and flame to adapt to the situation at hand. Luminaries also have access to stance utility skills, gaining additional tools for offense, defense, crowd control, and mobility.[2]

Profession mechanic[edit]
“The Luminary is a stalwart protector wreathed in flame. Clad in their Radiant Shroud, they can harness the power of four new weapons of light and flame that provide passive bonuses and alternate abilities based on use.
- Luminary's virtues empower the associated weapon(s) of the Radiant Forge. This forge is always available via F4 when not on cooldown.
- Activating Radiant Forge replaces the equipped weapon skills with four radiant weapon skills and a radiant weapon specific basic attack for up to 20 seconds.
- Using a radiant weapon skill will perform an initial attack with the related weapon and then flip the weapon skill to a second, additional skill. Initial attacks with radiant weapons will also apply Luminary's Blessing.
- Upon exiting Radiant Forge, the forge's cooldown will be decreased 5 seconds for every radiant weapon not used after the first one. Exiting Radiant Forge will have a minimum cooldown of 5 seconds and a maximum of 10 seconds in PvE and 15 seconds in WvW and PvP. [2][3]
- Alternatively, the cooldown is 5 seconds for using one or no radiant weapons, 10 when two are used, and any more after that results in the maximum cooldown. (10 seconds for PvE, 15 for WvW/PvP.)

Lore[edit]
“In the years following the charr civil war and the scattering of Bangar’s Dominion, relations between the four legions have remained steady, bolstered by events after the end of the dragon cycle. With the Flame Legion formally rejoining the legions and the Iron Legion having appointed Smodur’s successor, the two legions sought to commemorate the changing times with a joint project. Thus, the luminary was born.
In a shrewd diplomatic play, the two legions have since agreed to share their combined efforts with the Tyrian Alliance and its member races in the spirit of continued collaboration in this new era.
Luminaries bear an enchanted iron brazier that sustains a powerful sacred flame. The bearer can wreathe themselves with this fire and wield a blazing arsenal of weapons against their foes while striking powerful stances mid-fray.
