Location[edit]
Mechanics[edit]
The explanation for this hero challenge mechanics can be found within the dialogue.
- There are 5 lights, represented on the console by "
O" and "-." "O" means on and "-" means off. There are also 5 buttons. - There are 5 buttons, and pushing a button will toggle the corresponding light on or off.
- In addition, changing one light will toggle the lights to its left and right.
- If you push button 2, it will toggle light 2, as well as lights 1 and 3. Visually:
- - - - -will turn toO O O - -. - Remember, buttons toggle lights on and off, so if light 3 was on in the last example:
- - O - -, pushing button 2 will make it becomeO O - - -.
The objective is to turn all the lights off - - - - -. The starting pattern is chosen randomly among the following options:
- O - O -O - - - OO - O O -- O - - OO - O - OO O - O O

Text[edit]
- (This inquest machine is half broken; you could finish breaking it, or at least power it down.)
- (If challenge has not been completed)
- All right, what do we have here?
- (There's a control panel and some buttons. It seems you could probably power it down from here.)
- (Just start pushing buttons.)
- (After you mash your hand on the buttons, the lights all go out for a second before turning back on in a specific pattern. It seems you probably want them all to be off.)
- Here we go!
- O - O -(or other pattern here)- Press the first button.
- Press the second button.
- Press the third button.
- Press the fourth button.
- Press the fifth button.
- Reset.
- On second thought, I'll let someone else handle it.
- (Look around for instructions.)

- I'll deal with this later.

- (If
engineer) - Wait, I have an idea.
- (You know that making this device feed the Inquest false data will be more disruptive than feeding them no data at all.)
- All right, so rewire this, patch that up a bit with tape, and...
- (This system is running again, but with a built-in flaw that will feed the Inquest subtly faulty data that will take them ages to detect.)
- That ought to keep them busy for a while.
- (If the challenge was already completed by this character)
- It's back on, but I could always break it again. (same as "All right, what do we have here?" above)
- I'll deal with this later.
Notes[edit]
- Engineers can skip the mini-game by tampering with the device dialogue option, solving the hero point instantly.
- This is a simplified version of the Lights Out game which uses the same mechanic across two dimensions in a larger 5x5 grid.
