Guild Wars 2 Wiki:Bots

A bot account is a special user account which has been flagged so that its edits are hidden by default on Special:RecentChanges and Special:Watchlist (visibility can be toggled with the "Show bots" option). These accounts are used to run bot scripts, programs that automate the process of performing repetitive edits across multiple pages.

While it is possible for normal users to run automated editing scripts/programs without a bot account, this is generally discouraged due to the potential for disruption, since the edits cannot be hidden from RC; this disruption is compounded if a script malfunctions.

If a bot account is observed to be malfunctioning, it is usually possible to halt the bot by posting on its talk page.

Imo, the second ID in the infobox is enough, as the only significant difference between the old and new version of the equipment pieces is the salvage parameter. Regardless of the documentation choice, it will still display both of the salvage options, just like before this patch. Personally, it doesn't feel like that big of a change that it would require a variants template to be used. I'm one of those people who got a little annoyed with the change itself, since for me, it was a lazy method of getting the research notes. But speaking of the documentation – "heavily misleading" is way too strong of a phrase in this context, since there was no mention of including false or misleading information xD It's just a choice between a simple solution and a more extended one (variant template). Oh sorry Vysnaite, I didn't mean it as "the information (aka the second id) is wrong and incorrect information" and that what you did was wrong (it wasn't), but instead that since both ids are included in the infobox without any note about the research change for certain variants, that it is misleading as there is no info about why two ids exist, and why certain items you get can't be researched anymore despite the wiki saying it can be? I've extracted all of the render.guildwars2 urls into 2 files and posted them on discord, "just" need to automate icon id matching (if there are no possible duplicates with items images or other elements). I've downloaded my own list of files used in the API, 24392 unique results (included endpoints: traits, skills, items, skins, novelties, currencies, finishers, outfits).

I've reviewed the potential files that can be edited on the wiki, using any page which uses "Template:ArenaNet image" with hidden category "ArenaNet custom images". There were a few thousand user images which I've excluded, leaving me with 98366 potential files (all types). Focussing on PNG files where the ID parameter is set, there were 9490 files.

• 139 of those have multiple different IDs set, if the file is visually unique and they've been overlayed cannot be identified without reviewing the individual files. I've ignored these.
• 5233 files have an ID which cannot be found in the render service. I've ignored these.
• 4093 files have an ID which is found in the render service Medyro's dataset. I propose these are updated with the missing render service hashes.
