Power
Renegade is a very bursty and pretty straightforward damage build for instanced content. The iteration provided here uses Dual Swords, but it works in a similar way with Hammer and Greatsword too.
Renegade is an excellent pick for solo gameplay, as it can provide itself with good amounts of the most essential offensive and defensive boons:
Quickness,
Protection,
Fury and
Might - and all that while staying at range as well. Through its frequent Dodges, it can avoid a lot of incoming damage and therefore be quite survivable, even in damage gear.

Ambush Commander and
Blood Fury.

You can find my most recent open world build showcase here.
For OW, it can make sense to make a build more forgiving, so that you can sustain on your own.
Increasing General Survivability[edit]
- For the vast majority of open world content, it is enough to do as many of the following changes until you feel comfortable:
- slap on a
Relic of Zakiros, which heals you passively based on your damage dealt (4% critical damage to healing). The same applies to
Vindication (5%) and
Roiling Mists (2%). Using all of these will give you a more than 10% damage to healing conversion, which is nuts considering the damage of the build.
- If you want even more sustain, swap to
Dance of Death in
Devastation.
Dance of Death makes hits after applying
Vulnerability steal health via
Battle Scars, passively healing you. Dual Swords synergize very well with this trait, as they hit frequently and apply
Vulnerability on the auto attack chain and
Shackling Wave.
Icerazor's Ire also applies lots of
Vulnerability in an area.
Impossible Odds amplifies this, since applies additional hits to your attacks.
- You will naturally cover
Protection via
All for One by using Renegade skills, reducing incoming strike damage by 33%.
Darkrazor's Daring applies additional
Protection,
Resistance and
Stability on top of the absurd CC damage, making it an excellent tool for open world.
- For more convenience in general roaming and kiting tougher enemies, using Hammer can help. It still does excellent damage in solo gameplay and since all your damage skills are ranged, allows you to keep pumping from afar.
- Hammer also removes the requirement to run to every mob in open world through its high range, allowing you to kill them from range. Both
Coalescence of Ruin and
Drop the Hammer are strong for damage!
- It has a short-cooldown Block (via
Aegis and Projectile blocking) with
Field of the Mists and a short-cooldown Evade with
Phase Smash.

Boon Coverage[edit]
- If you want to acquire a good chunk of Boon duration at a relatively low damage tradeoff, you can swap in Diviner's gear. You overcap on critical chance by ~8%, since
Brutal Momentum gives you 33% when your endurance is full. Don't worry about undercapping crit when you dodge from time to time, it's not that big of a deal.
- If you can, make use of
Jade Tech Offensive Overcharge and
Jade Tech Defensive Overcharge give 150 additional Toughness, Vitality, Condition Damage and Power as well as all boons aside from
Stability,
Resistance and
Resolution on entering combat, with a 90 second cooldown. The free stats are very nice to have, especially for harder open world content.
- In story instances (or if you don't want the hassle of reapplying protocols), you can abuse the synergy between
Relic of the Cavalier and
Blast from the Skyscale to apply lots of
Aegis,
Resistance,
Might and
Quickness to yourself.
Blast places a damaging field, and the Boons apply on every hit of the damage field. Just mount up and press the engage skill right after to cast it instantly.
