Rewards[edit]

Walkthrough[edit]

First instance[edit]

Update your allies and decide on the next course of action.

Start at Waypoint (map icon).png Pilgrim's Rest Waypoint and simply speak with your allies a few times (including a selectable dialogue) to complete the instance.

Open World[edit]

Find a high-ranking Inquest officer with comms access to Kuda and set up a parley.

The marked locations at Point of interest (map icon).png Arcanological Survey Station and just southeast of Waypoint (map icon).png Deepwood Outpost Waypoint do not have an Inquest officer so the Point of interest (map icon).png Logistics Depot with Nenno is the only useful location. Head out north to a cliff after defeating him to catch up the rest of the team for the next instance. Wait for the effect on Nenno to wear off then speak to him for the "Twist the Knife" achievement.

Second instance[edit]

Parley with Kuda to get information on Vloxx's whereabouts.

Enter the entrance at Point of interest (map icon).png Arcanological Survey Station and speak with your allies and Kuda, until you have to step away to consider her counteroffer, whereupon combat will start. Kill the inquest group, and then collect the two book entries for the first part of the "Scouting Report" achievement.

Examine the teleportation console afterwards to start the next section.

Hunt Kuda down!

Head in towards Point of interest (map icon).png The Forge, dealing with a few enemies along the way. Getting further in requires Canach to hack 3 consoles while being swarmed by enemies; stick with him - protecting him awards "A Question of Trust".

Afterwards, head up the ramp towards Point of interest (map icon).png Supra Fortis in the southwest. The door is locked by a console, which can be unlocked with either an Inquest Authorization Key found on the upper floor in the northwest (above Point of interest (map icon).png Gardesano's Atelier) or an Inquest Spanner found in Point of interest (map icon).png Steward Trial Chamber or Point of interest (map icon).png Gardesano's Atelier (using the spanner option grants the achievement "DIY Enthusiast", the second of which requires using a Skimmer's Activate Aetherlocation ability. You can skip by this as an engineer by interacting with the console directly.

Unlocking the door leads to a final combat encounter with all 3 members of Omega Team at the same time. Except for Zipp they don't hit that hard on their own but their high health and tendency to stack together can still make them difficult. Skimmers and Warclaws can be mounted up with in the middle of combat, which can be used to withdraw and heal up.

After clearing the enemies, grab the four book entries for the last bit of the "Scouting Report" achievement.

Achievements[edit]

  • Complete the mission.
  • Eligibility is tracked by Achievement effect.png Achievement Eligibility: Scouting Report.
  • Omega Plans for "Scouting Report" achievement, found in the Supra Fortis/"Parley with Kuda to get information on Vloxx's whereabouts." instance.
    • 2 in the first room where you find Kuda, at Point of interest (map icon).png Arcanological Survey Station.
  • 4 in the second room with Kuda (originally blocked by a barrier), at Point of interest (map icon).png Supra Fortis.
  • Eligibility is tracked by Achievement effect.png Achievement Eligibility: A Question of Trust.
  • Just stick to Canach and kill mobs quickly for the "A Question of Trust" achievement.
    • The first console has the fewest enemies around it while the second console will probably have the highest amount since Canach crosses close to the middle of the room to get there. Consider starting to fight a bit in the middle of the room after the first console's immediate area is cleared to make this a bit easier.
  • Eligibility is tracked by Achievement effect.png Achievement Eligibility: DIY Enthusiast.
  • This achievement can be done in the instanced part of this story step, after defending Canach in the Forge.
  • Use your Skimmer's Aetherlocation to identify the location of the Inquest spanner for the "DIY Enthusiast" achievement. This is marked with a magnifiying glass when you get close enough - dismount and pick it up. The spanner cannot be found until after you interact with the console on the second level.
  • Note: Using your engineering skills or the Inquest Authorization Key will not earn DIY Enthusiast achievement.
    • The spanner's location appears to be somewhat randomized within the Forge. Some possible locations where it has been found:
      • next to the lamp alcove in the Point of interest (map icon).png Steward Trial Chamber, in the northeastern section of The Forge
      • in the narrower southern section of Point of interest (map icon).png Gardesano's Atelier, on the floor near the conveyor belt
    • When interacting with the console, use the option "Try to bypass the control panel with the tool" to get the achievement.
      • Other options such as "Use your engineering skills (...)" do not award the achievement, even if you have the tool in hand.

Dialogue[edit]

Pilgrim's Rest Instance[edit]

Update your allies and decide on the next course of action.
Rytlock Brimstone: Commander.
Isgarren: Wayfinder.
Canach: Glad to see you're in one piece. I held the gate as long as I could.
Sayida the Sly: What happened up there?
Dignity Vloxx managed to escape. Just barely.
<Character name>: The bomb worked perfectly. I was so close. But...I failed.
Ferocity I almost had him! If I was just a bit faster...
<Character name>: I was right on his tail! He finished the ritual just before I got through.
Charisma The plan worked fast. But Vloxx worked faster. We'll keep at it.
<Character name>: I don't want to think about how close I was. We'll have to find another way to stop him.
Isgarren: So. Vloxx has completed the rite. His power will rival the strongest of us.
Sayida the Sly: At least you're still alive...
<Character name>: Canach was right about Vloxx-he could've easily killed me. And Kuda.
Canach: Small consolation. Well, not the Kuda part. Or you being alive. You know what I mean!
Rytlock Brimstone: Vloxx never wanted power merely to kill. He's proven that much.
<Character name>: It's always been bigger than that for Vloxx. For better or worse.
Sayida the Sly:: What does that mean? We don't have the luxury of waiting to find out if his intentions are good!
Isgarren: I think we could all use some air. Let's step outside and give the wayfinder a moment. Then we can discuss the details.
After a short break
<Character name>: He refused to ascend Kuda. Or anyone else.
Canach: Huh.
<Character name>: She ranted about the Inquest being "hers," and he...ended the conversation.
Canach: So they didn't part on good terms.
<Character name>: You could say that. Although Vloxx didn't seem to care what Kuda did with the Inquest anymore.
Rytlock Brimstone: Meaning she's in charge now?
Canach: That's unfortunate.
Isgarren: Vloxx is the primary concern. Did he give any indication of what he will do next?
<Character name>: He seemed to have some sort of epiphany. Said he wants to repair "the code of creation"...
Rytlock Brimstone: That mean anything to you, wizard?
Isgarren: Not precisely. The idea is beyond even the power of Divitium Nava...
Sayida the Sly: We need a lead.
<Character name>: Kuda. Remember how she was keeping tabs on Sebb and Vloxx back when we arrived? If anybody has an idea, it's her.
Canach: Oh, wonderful. I'm sure if you just ask nicely...
<Character name>: I don't like it either, but she's all we have. We're not doing this alone, though.
<Character name>: I'll set up a parley, one way or another. Gather everyone you can to provide us some security.
Sayida the Sly: You sure about this, Commander?
(if asura)
<Character name>: Not in the slightest. I'll call when things are ready.
(if charr or norn)
<Character name>: No. I'll call when things are ready.
(if human)
<Character name>: Not at all. I'll call when things are ready.
(if sylvari)
<Character name>: Absolutely not. I'll call when things are ready.

Open World[edit]

At Golemancy Research Bivouac
<Character name>: No krewe chief here...
At Arcanological Survey Station
<Character name>: No one with a high enough rank...

At Logistics Depot[edit]

On approach
Elite Logistics Chief Nenno: Agent Blitt, where are our support golems? This is unacceptable!
<Character name>: Ah, here we go.
Speaking to Nenno
About time, agent! I'm tempted to report you to Kuda for insubor— Wait, you're not Blitt!
Talk combat option tango.png No. But I do want to talk to Kuda. And you're going to make that happen!
Talk end option tango.png Hold that thought...
Upon engaging Nenno
Elite Logistics Chief Nenno: I will do no such thing, intruder!
After defeating Nenno
Elite Logistics Chief Nenno: No more! I surrender!
<Character name>: Get Kuda on comms. Now.
Overseer Kuda: Speak. This had better be—
<Character name>: Kuda. We both want Vloxx. Let's parley.
Overseer Kuda: The commander? Interesting. Yes. Meet me on the north bank of the forge.
<Character name>: Your forces are amassed there. How about—
Overseer Kuda: Take it or leave it, Commander. Forge, north bank. Don't delay—I won't wait.
Speaking to Nenno afterwards
I did what you asked! Now what? I doubt Kuda will let me live after this. Compliance will hunt me down for sure! Take me with you!
Talk end option tango.png You're on your own.
Leaving Logistics Depot
<Character name>: Sayida. Gather as many allies as you can and meet me north of the forge.
Sayida the Sly: That's deep in Inquest territory.
<Character name>: Unfortunately, yes.
Sayida the Sly: Understood. We'll be there as soon as we can.

Supra Fortis Instance[edit]

Rytlock Brimstone: Commander. Gathered everyone we could find.
Canach: There's a fair chance we can secure an escape. Much beyond that...
Sayida the Sly: Kuda hasn't gone out of her way to get revenge, but she's never had an opportunity like this.
<Character name>: We need to know what Vloxx is going to do. Make sure everyone is ready for a trap.
Sayida the Sly: This isn't a trap. We're bringing this on ourselves—
<Character name>: We're out of options. Anyone who doesn't agree with this plan is welcome to leave.
Rytlock Brimstone: Let's go.
At the parley
Overseer Kuda: A bold strategy, assaulting one of my subordinates and marching straight to me. Bold...or desperate.
<Character name>: Overseer Kuda—
Overseer Kuda: Director Kuda. But there's no need for such formalities between us at this point, is there?
Director Kuda: We're well acquainted, after all. You allowed my escape from Kela. You didn't pursue when I...retreated from the temple.
Director Kuda: On the other hand, there is the issue of your obsession with mass murdering my fellow Inquest. Including my father.
<Character name>: We both know we're never going to be allies. But the bottom line is, I want to stop Vloxx. And so do you.
Director Kuda: "Stop"? I want him DEAD.
<Character name>: Fair enough. Tell me where he is, and—
Director Kuda: Ha! And what? What can you offer me?
Director Kuda: Well? Enlighten me. What could you possibly have to offer?
Dignity I have Vloxx's ear. I have a better chance of stopping him quickly.
Director Kuda: How has that worked for you so far? And what makes you think I don't want bloodshed?
Charisma I'd owe the Inquest. And I have powerful friends in the Tyrian Alliance.
Director Kuda: We have no interest in your "alliance." The Inquest is concerned only with the Inquest.
Ferocity Help me now, or I do everything I can to bury you and the Inquest for good.
Director Kuda: Don't insult me. that's all you've ever done. Yet here we stand, you begging for our help.
Director Kuda: No. Besides, let's say I do have the information you seek. What will you do with it?
Director Kuda: Nip at Vloxx's heels? Hope he discusses his plans with you before he yet again ignores your pleas to stop?
<Character name>: You haven't fared any better.
Director Kuda: Haven't I? You're speaking to the director of the Inquest. I haven't marched into enemy territory to beg you for scraps.
Director Kuda: You show up empty-handed on my doorstep. You've no leverage. You've nothing to offer. Or do I misread the situation?
Director Kuda: But since you came all this way, I have a proposal for you.
Director Kuda: I have Vloxx's most loyal and trusted krewe members here. They refuse to recognize my authority. They're traitors.
Director Kuda: Punishable by death.
Director Kuda: However, I'd happily release them into your custody. I suspect they can provide your people the information you seek.
<Character name>: Done.
Director Kuda: All I ask for in exchange, Commander, is you.
Rytlock Brimstone: What.
Sayida the Sly: Huh?
Director Kuda: A simple trade. I take the commander prisoner; you save all of these traitors and likely get the intel you need.
Director Kuda: It's a generous offer. Better than you all deserve. I will not negotiate any further.
Director Kuda: Confer with your allies. Quickly. My time is precious.
Discussing the offer with allies
Rytlock Brimstone: She can't be serious.
Sayida the Sly: You're not really considering this offer. Right?
<Character name>: Let me see if—
Director Kuda: Time's up.
(The Inquest members behind Kuda shot Vloxx's loyalists)
Director Kuda: You truly believed I'd negotiate with you? Vloxx's prattling led you astray; this is how the Inquest solves problems.
Director Kuda: Omega Team, with me. Echo Team, no need to keep the corpses intact this time.
After surviving the Inquest attack
Rytlock Brimstone: That didn't go according to plan.
Sayida the Sly: It did. Kuda's plan. She wanted us to see that.
Canach: She's vile. I miss Vloxx already.
<Character name>: Stay focused. Did anyone see where she went?
Sayida the Sly: Teleporter. There.
<Character name>: Go!
After using the Teleporter Control Panel
<Character name>: She's locked down their forge research facility.
Canach: Back to the forge, then. Of course she's disabled the teleporter.
Rytlock Brimstone: Not far. Just across the water.
Entering the forge
Inquest Amalgam Assassin: Is that the... AH! Requesting immediate backup!
Inquest Galvanic Technician: Engage the defenses!
Defeating initial forces
Rytlock Brimstone: Kuda doesn't have Ancora. How are they controlling these seer defenses?
Canach: I saw several consoles in the central chamber when we were last here. If I were a gambling man...
Sayida the Sly: So the controls are likely in there.
Canach: I'd bet Kuda's death on it.
After Canach overrides the seer defenses
Steward of Galdra: New targets have been identified. Shall we initiate our defense protocols?
Canach: Absolutely.
<Character name>: Excellent work, Canach!
Approaching the barrier
Canach: Unfortunately, I'm fresh out of explosives.
Rytlock Brimstone: Smash the control panel, see if it opens up.
Sayida the Sly: Brute force isn't the solution to every problem, boys. Other Inquest must get in and out somehow. Look around!
Picking up the Inquest Spanner
<Character name>: Hm. Some kind of electrical tool. Could we use this to rewire the barrier console?
Rytlock Brimstone: Might as well try it. If nothing else, looks like it'd do some damage.
Picking up the Authorization Key
<Character name>: Hmm. This looks like some sort of control key for the barrier console.
Canach: Promising, if lacking in spectacle. Let's give it a go.
Interacting with the Barrier Control Panel
Barrier Controls: Active. Lockdown protocol is in effect. Only authorized personnel may proceed. Enter valid authorization key to unlock controls.
(if player has Inquest Authorization Key)
Talk story option.png (Insert the authorization key and disable the barrier.)
(if player has Inquest spanner)
Talk story option.png (Try to bypass the control lockout with the tool.)
(if player is an engineer, an asura, or a charr)
Talk story option.png (Use your engineering skills to disable the barrier.)
Talk end option tango.png Hm. I'll need to find a way to access the controls.
After disabling the barrier
<Character name>: That did it. Inside!
Approaching Kuda
<Character name>: You should've negotiated with us, Kuda. The only choice left is surrender.
Director Kuda: Look at you, blindly pursuing whichever Inquest leader is dangled in front of you.
Director Kuda: I can't help but notice that you seem to have left most of your allies behind, too.
<Character name>: (growls)
Director Kuda: Vloxx is a disgrace, but at least he isn't stupid. I can't help but question what he sees in you, though.
Director Kuda: Farewell, Commander. We will not be meeting again. Omega Team, you have your orders.
Fighting Omega Team
Naati: I think you'll find that we've improved since you last faced us.
Plokk: Finally. Time for a true test of strength.
Zipp: Now you die. Now you die!
During the fight
(one of)
Naati: Look upon your nightmares.
Naati: Your mind is no longer your own.
Naati: Losing your wits?
(one of)
Naati: Yes, run away!
Naati: Cower, fools!
Naati: Frightening, no?
(one of)
Zipp: Careful now!
Zipp: Watch your step! And watch mine!
Zipp: Think fast.
(one of)
Zipp: Untouchable!
Zipp: No chance!
Zipp: Not there! Can't hurt me!
(one of)
Plokk: Time to put you down.
Plokk: Incoming.
Plokk: Fall before me, weaklings.
(one of)
Plokk: I'm too much for you.
Plokk: (yells)
Plokk: No mercy!
75% health
Naati: You're Isgarren's last line of defense? Get out of my way.
Zipp: No more mistakes—we learn fast.
Plokk: I relish this challenge. With your defeat, none will deny my superiority.
25% health
Naati: Why do you fight the wizard's battles?
Zipp: Quit slowing me down!
Plokk: That didn't hurt.
When defeated
Naati: No! I was promised revenge...
Zipp: How...did you...catch me?
Plokk: I... You...beat me?
When Omega Team is defeated
Rytlock Brimstone: All right, where's she at?
Canach: Gone. Again. And we're lucky to be alive; she played us.
Rytlock Brimstone: What are we waiting for? Let's chase her down!
Sayida the Sly: She planned this all out. There'll be an army of Inquest between us and Kuda at this point.
Rytlock Brimstone: That's it? We're just going to give up?
<Character name>: Sayida's right. We're outnumbered and outmanoeuvred. We need to pull everybody back.
Canach: We took a gamble. We lost. It happens. It's time to take a step back. Reassess.
<Character name>: Isgarren.
Isgarren: Wayfinder. I'm told the Inquest are preparing to decamp. Your negotiations were successful, then?
<Character name>: No.
Isgarren: Unfortunate. But there is a positive development: with the Inquest on the move, we have unfettered access to the dome.
Isgarren: And given your defeat of the All Seer, we should finally be able to perform the rite to break Sidony's curse.
Isgarren: Historian Minna has pored over everything. She will meet you at the Dome of the Indelible Word to provide guidance.
Isgarren: If all goes well, I'll be seeing you soon, Wayfinder.

My story[edit]

Supra Fortis loading screen.png

I returned to camp at a loss.

Time after time, Vloxx stayed a step ahead of us. Now I had to explain to everyone that I'd failed, that Vloxx had completed the trials and succeeded in the rite of Divitium Nava. As I began to relate the details to everyone, the discussion got a bit heated, and we stepped outside for some air at Isgarren's suggestion.

I finished explaining that Vloxx had ascended, gaining immense power and insight, and that it seemed Overseer Kuda was now the de facto leader of the Inquest.

We needed to figure out what Vloxx was going to do next. But we had no leads, no idea where to go from that point. Feeling there was no choice, I decided to try to convince Kuda to give us any information she had on Vloxx's next steps with the hope that she'd see that we had a common enemy.

***

With no way to directly contact Kuda, I tracked down an Inquest officer and persuaded him to make an emergency call. She answered and agreed to meet for a parley, but she refused to negotiate on the location—she insisted it be north of the forge, an area crawling with Inquest. I had no leverage; I accepted the meeting and asked my allies to meet me there, prepared for an ambush.

***

We all agreed there was a good chance Kuda would double-cross us, so Sayida gathered as many allies as she could muster to provide us with a safe exit in case of an attack...which inevitably happened. However, while we saw an ambush coming, we didn't anticipate the cruelty with which Kuda executed it. She'd gathered all the remaining Inquest loyal to Vloxx, and—after taking every opportunity she could to insult me—she postured as if to use the loyalists as a bargaining chip. Casually, she proposed that she turn Vloxx's loyalists over in exchange for taking me prisoner.

Of course, she had no real intention of allowing such a trade to happen, regardless of whether we would accept the audacious proposal. Kuda gave us only a few seconds to discuss the proposal, then she suddenly announced, "Time's up!" This was the cue for her Inquest to open fire on the defenseless loyalists, murdering them all in cold blood, before turning her forces on us as she escaped via a teleporter.

***

Kuda had locked the teleporter controls behind her, but Canach saw that she'd teleported into the nearby forge. Inside, the Inquest had taken control of the seer defenses, which threatened to overwhelm us. Canach remembered seeing control consoles when constructing the bomb earlier, so we headed for the central chamber.

As we beat back the Inquest, Canach worked his magic, turning the seer defenses against them. The forge cleared of hostiles, we faced yet another barrier, this one blocking our acccess to Kuda inside the research facility.

Once we found a way to get the barrier down, we entered the facility to find Kuda and her three forge-enhanced soldiers waiting. Kuda had expected us to follow her, leaving our Tyrian Alliance support behind in the chase—we'd played right into her hands.

Kuda's "Omega Team"—Zipp, Plokk, and Naati—had mastered their powers since our first meeting. She ordered them to attack and made her exit, disappearing up the stairs.

Zipp's blurring speed, Plokk's supernatural strength, and Naati's mend-bending illusions pushed us to the brink, but with the help of Rytlock, Canach, and Sayida, I was able to defeat Kuda's Omega Team. By then, Kuda was long gone with an army of Inquest between her and us. With more Inquest encroaching and our backup support left well behind, we had no choice but to call of the chase.

The Inquest's new director had outmaneuvered us.

Frustrated, Rytlock called for us to keep up the pursuit, but it was no use. Just as Kuda herself pointed out, we'd nipped at Vloxx's heels since arriving in Eternity's Garden, to no avail. Then we'd chased after Kuda herself, and now we had nothing to show for it.

Or almost nothing; Isgarren contacted me, and he and Historian Minna did have a positive development to report. They'd managed to translate and reverse Sidony's scroll that I'd recovered earlier while hunting for Canach's bomb components.

If Minna's curse-breaker spell could unravel the hold that Sidony had over Isgarren and Castora, maybe there was a silver lining to our setbacks after all...
