Walkthrough[edit]

After reading the letter, enter the instance from Gendarran Fields.

Lion's Arch has been overwhelmed by Scarlet's army. Make your way to the Trader's Forum (the old mystic forge); clear out the initial Aetherblades and a few more waves of the same. If you are new to fighting Aetherblades, focus on the Strikers first since they can stun you, then the Thugs.

At this point there are now three objectives marked on the map, with three Pact Emergency Waypoints available. There is a timer mechanic (miasma) to add some element of pressure but the timer is extremely slow to build and you have plenty of time. You can optionally encourage citizens to evacuate (marked with green hand overhead icons) however this has no tangible benefit other than some achievements for encouraging specific allies to evacuate; and these achievements can be gained after the "miasma timer" has disappeared.

  • Evon at the Grand Piazza (north west): Talk to Evon to begin an escort event with his dolyaks. Aetherblades will frequently spawn during the escort. Use the waypoint to move to the next area.
  • Captain Magnus in Fort Marriner (south): Defeat the Elite Molten Berserker (jump to avoid shockwaves), then follow Magnus up onto the wall where Kiel waits with her airship. Use the waypoint to move to the next area.
  • Marjory and Kasmeer in Postern Ward (east): Clear the Toxic Krait at the marker. Speak to Marjory afterwards.

Finally approach any of the three final green markers to complete the story. At this point the Miasma timer stops and you are free to complete the All Bets Are Off and Please Follow Me to the Exit achievements at your leisure; these are described below.

Achievements[edit]

  • Complete the mission.
  • Record 1 is found just south of the broken Asura gate at the southern end of Fort Marriner. See achievement page for further details.
  • Find all 7 of Tigg's lost racing moas. All 7 must be rescued in the same instance. Refer to the maps on the All Bets Are Off page.
  • Find all 6 hidden evacuees. The evacuees do not have to be rescued in the same instance. Refer to the maps on the Please Follow Me to the Exit page.
  • This achievement requires 30 objectives to complete. There are 40 objectives available in the Public/Squad instanced version of The Battle For Lion's Arch, however only 21 objectives can be reached during this story version due to the "leaving the story area" borders. Refer to the Memories in Your Hand achievement guide page for details.

Emergency — Lion's Arch Is Being Invaded

To all Tyrians,

This is a general emergency warning. A few hours ago, a massive flying platform has entered Sanctum Harbor, bringing destruction and spreading a lethal miasma over the city. Furthermore, Aetherblade airships, Molten portals, and Toxic forces are overwhelming the Lionguard response.

Some of the citizenry is still trapped inside the city limits. We are calling on available heroes to assist in the evacuation efforts.

Lion's Arch needs you. If you can, please report to the forward camps in Gendarran Fields, Bloodtide Coast, and Lornar's Pass at once.

—Captain's Council, Lion's Arch

In Lion's Arch[edit]

Entering the city
Scarlet Briar: People of Lion's Arch, this is Scarlet Briar.
Scarlet Briar: I would tell you not the fear, but... (giggle).
After capturing Trader's Forum
Rox: They picked on the wrong city.
Braham Eirsson: Ummm, this looks like a full-on invasion to me.
Rox: I think you're right. They're killing anyone who hasn't evacuated yet. We have to get noncombatants out of here.
Braham Eirsson: Aetherblades. Hmph.
Rox: Hopefully the Canal Ward gate to Gendarran Fields is still open. Citizens can flee that way.
Braham Eirsson: I'm not fleeing. I'm fighting.
Rox: Fair enough. Then I am too.
Talking to allies
Braham Eirsson: I figured I'd see you up here fighting these Aether-dregs. This situation is so serious, though, I'm almost not having any fun taking them down. How is one squeaky little turnip pulling all this off? And why?
Talk more option tango.png She's been working toward this for over a year.
That's a long time. I wish we could have predicted this back when we were fighting the Molten Alliance—back in those early days. I'd have hunted her down and pulled her out like the weed she is.
Talk more option tango.png We all wish that. She's gotten extremely powerful.
I understand how she burgled and bluffed these alliances together, but I don't get why. What could she possibly want?
Talk more option tango.png The answer to that lies with the green probe.
Yeah, Taimi thinks she's mapping ley lines so she can tap them for their energy.
Talk more option tango.png Where is your little buddy?
She's not MY buddy. But, she was heading toward the camp outside the Vigil fort to annoy the refugees there. If we're lucky, they'll toss her off a mountain.
Talk more option tango.png You don't mean that.
(laugh) No. I don't guess I do.
Talk end option tango.png Uh-huh. That's what I thought.
Talk more option tango.png Anyone spotted Scarlet yet?
I don't think so. She can't be far away though. Her alliances are obviously securing the city so she can drill at the probe site.
Talk end option tango.png Good to know.
Talk end option tango.png Later.
Rox: Grab a spot, my friend! We're keeping the plaza secure so citizens can escape. Could use your help.
Talk more option tango.png Looks like they're here in force.
You could say that again. What they lack in organization and strategy, they make up for in numbers.
Talk more option tango.png You think Scarlet's leading the charge?
I think Scarlet pointed her alliance muscle in a direction and said, "Go do bad things to good people." And then, I think, she forgot them.
Talk more option tango.png Forgot them?
Well, I mean, she turned to her own plot. These troops are just chaff to keep us distracted from her true plan.
Talk more option tango.png We still have to protect these citizens.
Yup. And that's the burn. Her division is actually working. We're too busy saving people to focus on her. Soon, though. Soon.
Talk end option tango.png Soon.
Talk end option tango.png I'm on it.
Escorting Evon's dolyaks
Evon Gnashbalde: Did... did you see what happened? I...I was just headed into the market. Then... we got separated. What am I supposed to do with the caravan?
Talk quest option tango.png With me. I'll get you to the gate.
Talk end option tango.png Wait here.
Evon Gnashblade: Get outta my way, runt. I gotta get merchandise through that gate.
Captain Shud: Hurry it up, Evon. I have citizens here who need this gate.
Captain Shud: Evon, move your dolyaks. I need to get these people out of the city and shut down the gate.
Evon Gnashblade: What? That's your problem? Don't worry, Shud. I got you covered.
Captain Shud: That greedy...! How did he shut down the gate?
Captain Shud: Never mind. Get to the city exits!

My story[edit]

Lion's Arch (Under Attack!) loading screen.jpg

Our fears were realized: Lion's Arch came under siege. Aetherblade airships swept in and opened fire without warning. Chaos provided the perfect cover for Scarlet's forces to move in for the kill. We rushed into the city to give aid as best we could, but the enemy had overwhelmed and routed the Lionguard amid a growing miasma of toxic gas. We did our best to push back against our foes and evacuate the citizens, but the loss of life was severe. I've never seen such ruin in Lion's Arch; not since Zhaitan's assault on Claw Island. I took a moment between escort groups to peer over to the harbor, where a massive drill had lowered from Scarlet's flying fortress, pushing deep into the bedrock below.

My story

Notes[edit]

For some reason Evon will retrace his path back to his original start requiring the player or party to redo his escort event, complete with all spawns that would occur.
At the end of the escort, if all players have teleported away to a different area of the mission before Evon closes the asura gate before him, the objective will not be counted.
