Kill proof
Kill proof (abbreviated as KP) is an unofficial term for items and achievements that prove that a player has defeated a Raid or Fractals of the Mists boss. Although kill proof requirements are very common in groups found on the LFG, they are wholly just a ‘good faith’ based, community-created system and are not required by the game itself to participate in any content.
While often a good indicator of experience, it is worth noting that it is not a definite proof. They only show that a player has been a part of a group that has defeated a certain boss. The proof could also have been obtained by paying other players to complete content, and can be easily "faked" by using chat code generators found online.
Upon joining a group with a requirement, it is usually expected to "ping" the items in squad chat. This is done with Ctrl+Click on the items three or more times in quick succession, however many players choose to use external kill proof logging sites to make this process easier and remove the chance for faked items.
Some groups opt to ask for random information or an arbitrary item instead, not to prove a player has succeeded in the encounter, but to show that they are capable of communicating, and that the LFG listing was read and understood. Examples include "password is 3+4", "last movie you watched", or Bananas. Another example is being asked to link your weapon or relic, which may serve as a soft gear-check.
Raids[edit]
Note: Although this list contains most items used by the community, it is not definitive. Groups may ask for different items, achievements and/or titles from players as proof of their experience, so it is important to read the LFG entry correctly and be respectful.
Legendary Insights[edit]
Legendary Insights (LI) are a currency awarded from all raid encounters, and show experience in general raid content rather than proof of individual bosses. As a currency, it itself cannot be linked in chat, but items crafted from it can.

Decoration tokens[edit]
Groups commonly ask for a certain amount of 'Kill proof tokens' (KP), decoration trophy items unique to each boss. They are rewarded through the boss' coffer container with a variable drop rate of 1-5, which means that with enough luck it is possible to attain up to "10 KP" in a single kill during the related
Daily Raid Bounties. If a group is attempting a 'Full clear' (FC) then they will usually only request tokens from the last boss in the wing.
Challenge Modes[edit]
Groups attempting Raid Challenge modes usually ask for the same items as normal mode, but may additionally ask you to display a title awarded from defeating a specific challenge mode boss as proof you have previously cleared the encounter.
| Raid Wing | Boss | Kill Proof (KP) | Title |
|---|---|---|---|
| Stronghold of the Faithful | (Same as normal mode) | ||
| Bastion of the Penitent | |||
| Hall of Chains | |||
| Mythwright Gambit | |||
| The Key of Ahdashim | |||
| Mount Balrior | Greer's Magnificent Coffer | ||
| Decima's Magnificent Coffer | |||
| Ura's Magnificent Coffer |
Raid encounters[edit]
Boneskinner Ritual Vials awarded from the Boneskinner are commonly asked for when doing Icebrood Saga (IBS5) encounters. Bosses' coffers are listed for completeness, but groups are unlikely to request them aside for Harvest Temple.
Raid encounter Challenge Modes[edit]
In addition to the Magnificent Coffers being awarded on each kill, a title earned from the defeat of each specific boss (with extra specific conditions) can be displayed and used as proof of mastery of the encounter.
| Section | Raid encounter | Kill Proof (KP) | Title |
|---|---|---|---|
| Core Game | Old Lion's Court (Challenge Mode) | Assault Knights' Magnificent Coffer | |
| End of Dragons | Aetherblade Hideout (Challenge Mode) | Mai Trin's Magnificent Coffer | |
| Xunlai Jade Junkyard (Challenge Mode) | Ankka's Magnificent Coffer | ||
| Kaineng Overlook (Challenge Mode) | Minister Li's Magnificent Coffer | ||
| Harvest Temple (Challenge Mode) | Void's Magnificent Coffer | ||

| Temple of Febe (Challenge Mode) | Cerus's Magnificent Coffer | ||
| Temple of Febe (Legendary Challenge Mode) | Cerus's Magnificent Coffer |
Fractals of the Mists[edit]
Normal mode fractal groups will usually not ask for any kill proof, however, groups attempting challenge modes may ask for Unstable Fractal Essence (UFE), which is acquired from killing Fractal challenge mode bosses. Unstable Fractal Essence cannot be pinged as it is stored in the account wallet, so many groups use an external kill proof logging site to log and display to others the amount they have. Additionally, several titles may be displayed which show proof of a challenge mode completion.
| Fractal | Kill Proof (KP) | Title |
|---|---|---|
| Nightmare Fractal (Challenge Mode) | Unstable Fractal Essence | |
| Shattered Observatory Fractal (Challenge Mode) | ||
| Sunqua Peak Fractal (Challenge Mode) | ||
| Silent Surf Fractal (Challenge Mode) | ||
| Lonely Tower Fractal (Challenge Mode) |
Notes[edit]
- Certain items are not used as a kill proof because they can easily be "faked", such as the Hateful Sworl, a reward from the Hall of Chains raid. Since it can be pinged from the Achievement window, it's mostly avoided as a kill proof.
- The same applies to older challenge mode rewards (like Deimos's Top-Tier Supplies) which can be linked from the respective achievement. The equipment container inside it (like Prisoner's Contraband) could be used, but is highly uncommon to keep.
- Decorations donated to guilds by double-clicking or trading them in at a guild decoration trader cannot be retrieved.
- Prior to the June 11, 2019 game update players were required to represent a guild in order to get raid decorations.
External links[edit]
- Many players prefer to use an external website to log kill proof so they can delete their items or open consumables. These typically read a player's API key, meaning they effectively cannot be "faked". The most popular such website is killproof.me.
- Another way is to parse the combat log with a site like gw2wingman. This method partially enables retroactive proof if you or a squad member were already producing combat logs.
