Kyung is a human ritualist and sister of Sang-Mi and Tae-Sung who resides in Seitung Harbor. Occasionally, she travels to the Zen Daijun Temple to beat some sense into her brother and his Speaker allies and stop their abuse of spirits.
| Kyung later aids the Pact Commander in freeing Zunraa, the spirit guardian of Seitung Province. Years later, she travels to the fallen mursaat city of Bava Nisos at the request of Empress Ihn to help agitated mursaat ghosts move on to the afterlife. |
Biography[edit]
Early years[edit]
Kyung, her sister Sang-Mi, and her brother Tae-Sung were born to a ritualist mother in Cantha. As they grew up, they wanted to learn their mother's craft. Kyung picked up ritualism quickly as did Sang-Mi,[1] but Tae-Sung struggled to learn due to his stubbornness and believing himself to be better than he was, and was harshly treated by their mother as a result. The frustrated Tae-Sung ultimately resorted to an easier version of ritualism with the Speakers faction that involved binding unwilling spirits to fight for him. The siblings' mother eventually passed away, and Kyung stopped visiting the Zen Daijun Temple and her brother for a long time.[2]
End of Dragons[edit]
By 1335 AE, a group of extremist Speakers associating with Tae-Sung had begun terrorizing Seitung Harbor by binding the free-roaming spirits there at night to add to their growing spirit army. Realizing how terrified the population had become and wanting to save the spirits, Kyung resorted to stopping the Speakers' operations. She received aid from the recently arrived Pact Commander and other adventurers as they stopped the Speakers from binding the spirits, fought their way to Zen Daijun Temple while the Speakers tried to sway her to join them in vain, and ultimately confronted Tae-Sung himself.
The frustrated Kyung stopped the siblings' small talk short and resolved to beat Tae-Sung up to teach him a lesson about respecting spirits. In the resulting clash the siblings argued with each other, trying to find flaws in the other's methods; however, Kyung admitted to their mother having been too harsh on Tae-Sung but reminded her brother that it still did not excuse what he had become. Tae-Sung complicated the battle by retreating into the Spirit Realm, but Kyung was able to open a path so her allies could chase after Tae-Sung and defeat the spirits he had bound and ultimately best Tae-Sung as well. Kyung reassured the adventurers that they had only knocked her brother out and that battles between the two had happened before.
Some time later, the Commander returned to Kyung with a request. They had been investigating the disappearance of Zunraa, the guardian spirit of Seitung Province, from centuries ago, and believed that clues to this mystery might be found in the Spirit Realm. Kyung tentatively offered to aid the Commander because they had aided her in defeating Tae-Sung and because it was dangerouf for a non-ritualist to attempt entrance. She requested a rare spirit stone that would make accessing the Spirit Realm easier for an extended period of time. When the Commander returned with the spirit stone, Kyung was surprised as she had not expected the search to end so quickly.
Kyung then instructed the Commander to seek out spiritual texts in the Sizhou Hall library for clues on how to use the stone. After acquiring the book, she created various portals to the Spirit Realm, allowing the Commander to witness fragmentary echoes of past events, charge the spirit stone, and find out clues about Zunraa's whereabouts which ultimately led the pair to Zen Daijun Temple where Kyung opened one last portal. The Commander successfully freed Zunraa from his bindings and returned to the mortal plane to inform Kyung of a job well done.
Janthir Wilds[edit]
By 1338 AE, Empress Ihn had learned of the Tyrian Alliance expedition's breakthrough into the ruins of the fallen mursaat city of Bava Nisos where the alliance attempted to contain the source of the titan invasion. Upon learning of the many mursaat ghosts haunting Bava Nisos and its outskirts, the empress sent Kyung to help the restless spirits pass on to the Mists and thus make the alliance's campaign easier in the region. Once again reunited with the Pact Commander, Kyung requested their help to complete her delicate task.[3]

Dialogue[edit]
- After completing Defeat Tae-Sung, and stop him from harming the spirits
- (sigh) Well, I've had way better nights than this one, that's for sure...
- Did we...kill him?
- Gods, no! He's just knocked out. I do it all the time. Wish I didn't have to, but nothing gets through that thick skull of his except my fists. I know, it's a bad look to beat your brother senseless.[verification requested]
- How'd you get wrapped up in all of this to begin with?
- Essentially, my brother and I wanted to learn ritualism like our mom. I picked it up quick, but he struggled. He got mad, found a cheap, sketchy version that's easier to practice, and here we are.
- He's not...dead, is he? (same as "Did we...kill him?")
- Sorry to hear things turned out that way.
- Family can be difficult sometimes.
- How'd you get wrapped up in all of this? (same as "How'd you get wrapped up in all of this to begin with?")
- (If step 2 of A Guardian Once More is active)
- Can I ask for your help with something?
- Sure. You helped me and you don't even know me. Least I can do is return the favor.
- I'm looking for...someone. In the spirit realm...
- You know someone? In the spirit realm? Okay, well I'd love to help...
- Great! Let's get going.
- Slow down! I'm exhausted! And hungry! You think alternating between planes of reality is easy? Besides, even if I wasn't exhausted, my powers definitely are. Only place I'm going is my bed.
- Right... I could...go by myself?
- No offense, but you don't have quite the, uh, professional skillset to go it alone. Though there is this thing called a "spirit stone" that might help. If you get one, find me near the town outskirts.
- Spirit stone. All right, I'll start looking.
- Actually, never mind.
- Good luck with everything.
- At Town Outskirts, if step 4 of A Guardian Once More is active
- You're kidding. You...you actually found one? How? Where? What? I have so many questions.
- Me too. Mainly, how does it work?
- No clue. I've never even seen one in person. Figured by the time you got back, I'd be rested enough to think of something else. But it's here, so I guess we could at least read the directions.
- It comes with directions?
- Not exactly, but there's a library of spiritual texts over in Shinota Shore. I've used some in my own studies. I'm sure they'd have some type of ritualism book about spirit stones.
- Guess I'll hit the books.
- Just saying "hello."
- At Town Outskirts, if step 6 of A Guardian Once More is active
- Did you stop by the library.
- Yes, I found this book. It seems helpful. And confusing.
- Let me take a look. Hmmm.. Interesting... Whoa, was not expecting this... Huh... No, we are definitely not doing that... Ohh, but we are doing this! Okay, I think I've got it.
- Do you...know what you're doing?
- Of course! Just not until I'm doing it, usually. So it's pretty straightforward: I use some visualization techniques while channeling energy into the stone, which should open a portal for you.
- Where do I find this portal?
- Turn around.
- Huh?
- I still need some time.
- At Town Outskirts, if step 15 of A Guardian Once More is active
- Look who it is! Are you ready for a spirit realm rescue mission?
- Crystal seems fully charged. Should be good to go.
- Awesome! Meet me at the temple in Zen Daijun when you're ready.
- Will do.
- Not quite ready yet.
- In A Chance Encounter
- Are you ready? If Zunraa was really kidnapped, things might get dicey quickly in there. Take some time to prep if you need to.
- Let's do this.
- I need a minute.
