Mia Kindleshot
“Wherever Iron goes, we leave the broken wreckage of our enemies behind.
— Mia Kindleshot
Mia Kindleshot is a tribune of the Iron Legion who has been one of the driving forces behind the Ebonhawke Treaty.
| Following the death of Smodur the Unflinching, Mia succeeds him as the new Iron Legion Imperator.[1] After the forming of the Tyrian Alliance, she collaborates with Flame Legion Imperator Efram Greetsglory to create the luminary elite specialization for guardians. |
Biography[edit]
Early years[edit]
While in the Iron Legion, Mia Kindleshot eventually became one of the legion's tribunes. She was considered to be one of the most respected Iron Legion tribunes alongside Bhuer Goreblade and Fume Brighteye.[2] Her views had also been noted to be similar to Imperator Smodur the Unflinching of the Iron Legion.[1]
Mia was said to have been instrumental in arranging the original ceasefire between charr and humans, and pushed the powers that be to sign the Ebonhawke Treaty.[3] Although Mia's efforts won over many charr who sided with the pro-treaty faction, several other charr in the Iron Legion, notably Fume Brighteye, made their dislike about the truce clear.[4] At some point, she saw the inventor Uzolan in Ebonhawke.[5]
Personal story[edit]
Because of Mia's contributions to the ceasefire, she was invited to a party at Minister Caudecus's manor that celebrated the peace negotiations in 1325 AE. As a representative of the Iron Legion, she acted as the charr ambassador to Kryta. While at the celebration, she explained to a guest that while she was present as a representative of her legion, she missed her warband, who she mentioned were around somewhere and always within her thoughts, and that she was present to further negotiations with Kryta. She also compared the party's host, Caudecus, to the Flame Legion. The same guest later questioned her while interrogating delegates at the party on Logan Thackeray's orders.
The party was interrupted by Separatists who kidnapped Queen Jennah and several ambassadors with help from the inventor Uzolan. Mia was placed in a cage where she was to be kept alive until Separatist Captain DeLana had finished her business with the captive queen. Logan Thackeray, Zojja, and the Pact Commander freed the tribune who told them that the queen had been taken farther up the valley behind the manor.[5] The group ultimately managed to defeat the Separatists and save the queen, allowing Mia to return to her duties.
Living World Season 1[edit]
As tribune, Mia was part of the defense quorum convened between Imperator Smodur the Unflinching and the tribunes within Ascalon to deal with the threat of the Molten Alliance in 1326 AE. The tribunes argued how to best face the new threat. While conversing with the Pact Commander, Mia mentioned that she agreed with Makk the Silent about concentrating their forces around the Black Citadel in case the enemy tried to attack the city next.[6]
Living World Season 4[edit]
Leading Iron Legion forces in the area under Imperator Smodur's orders, Mia, alongside her warband, joined the Pact Commander's allied forces in the assault on the Elder Dragon Kralkatorrik at Thunderhead Peaks in 1332 AE. Upon meeting the Commander in Thunderhead Keep, she expressed the Iron Legion's interest in killing the Elder Dragon and listened to the Commander's speech before participating in the battle. During the battle against the Elder Dragon and the Branded, Mia fought alongside Logan Thackeray, Boticca, and Rox. She survived the battle and went back to High Legion territories after the dragon Aurene's apparent demise. The survivors would eventually learn that Aurene had revived and slain Kralkatorrik to take his place as an Elder Dragon with the Commander's help.
The Icebrood Saga[edit]
Jormag Rising[edit]
During the charr civil war between the rogue Imperator Bangar Ruinbringer's Dominion and the United Legions in 1333 AE, Mia remained loyal to Imperator Smodur. She attempted to have herself reassigned to Drizzlewood Coast where Smodur and the other imperators were located, causing Smodur to reply that she was pushing dangerously close to attempting to order him around. Within the letter Smodur had sent back to her, Mia was rebuffed for this and told that the other imperators believed that killing Bangar would collapse his Dominion forces, while Smodur claimed that he knew that the Dominion would only respect a show of force to break their morale. Smodur wanted Mia to lead the war effort on one of the other fronts because the Iron Legion was stretched thin, and he needed his best officers where they would do the most good rather than leaving key strategic locations vulnerable to the Dominion.[7]
After Smodur's death at the hands of Bangar's second-in-command Ryland Steelcatcher, Imperator Malice Swordshadow of the Ash Legion noted that Mia would most likely be the next Iron Imperator as Smodur had trusted her. However, the United Legions were unable to contact Mia in time for the assault on Bangar's base of operations at the Frost Citadel, and so she did not succeed Smodur as Iron Imperator immediately.[8]
Champions[edit]
Mia ascended as the new Iron Imperator some time after the United Legions had captured Bangar and defeated the Dominion's main force at Drizzlewood Coast. During the destroyer invasion of Ebonhawke, the Blood Legion's new Imperator Crecia Stoneglow noted to the Pact Commander that Mia was cut from the same cloth as Smodur was, though Mia luckily did not aspire to become Khan-Ur according to her. Crecia also noted that Mia was popular among the rank and file and had been promoting loyal charr to tribunes within the Iron Legion.[1]
Janthir Wilds[edit]
Act 1[edit]
Crecia Stoneglow was elected as the charr representative of the High Legions for the Tyrian Alliance's inaugural meeting in Lion's Arch in 1337 AE after the sudden Kryptis attacks had made several factions consider joining forces to better combat future threats from Tyria and beyond. Crecia noted that tensions were rising in the legions due to the disgraced Bangar's impending trial and calls for another Khan-Ur to rise. According to Crecia the imperators were mostly aligned; however, she only named Flame Legion's new Imperator Efram Greetsglory and Ash Legion's Malice Swordshadow while leaving Mia out as if to suggest that Mia had not wholly agreed with the other imperators' stance for unknown reasons.[9]
Absolution[edit]
Following the Tyrian Alliance's success in ending the titan threat in Janthir and the Foundry of Failed Creations in 1338 AE, a victory celebration was held in Lion's Arch. Mia was among the many guests attending the festivities, taking the time to listen to Queen Jennah's celebration speech before mingling with her fellow imperators. When approached by the Pact Commander, Mia admitted that it had not been easy to step into Smodur's boots and it had taken this long after the charr civil war for the Iron Legion to feel normal again. However, she also suggested that the legions would have more good news to come without elaborating on the specifics.[10]
Visions of Eternity[edit]
As collaboration between the members of the Tyrian Alliance deepened, the four High Legions began even deeper collaboration to combine their respective strengths in 1338 AE. Mia contributed to the initiative by working with Efram Greetsglory to create the luminary elite specialization for guardians who would wield Iron Legion torches which would emanate a radiant flame reclaimed by the Flame Legion. She also potentially sent a personal letter to the Pact Commander to seek Petrus Dawnwelder out for further discussions about the craft that could be of use to guardians.[11]

Dialogue[edit]
- If not charr
- Commander! The Iron Legion stands with you! We're currently discussing the best way to coordinate our forces.
- Good, glad you're with us. I'll see you all on the front line.
- If charr
- Mud and blood, if it isn't the commander! Imperator Smodur sends his regards. Says if today's the day that overgrown crystal bastard falls, the legion's gotta be there. Hence, me 'n' the warband.
- (If Ash Legion)
- Well, this Ash Legion soldier is glad to see you, Tribune.
- I'm sure the rest of Ash would be here if they could...but they have the best representative of their corps leading this battle. I'm sure you'll do them proud, Commander.
- That's the plan. Carry on, Tribune.
- (If Blood Legion)
- I'm sure Rytlock would join me in saying we're glad for the help, Tribune.
- Blood Legion never passes up the chance for a good scrap. Too bad the rest of the legion are still tied down in Ascalon, but I'm sure you and Brimstone will do enough damage for the rest of 'em. Heh!
- There's nothing we do better! Back to it, soldier.
- (If Iron Legion)
- Always good to have my legion mates at my back. Glad you're here, Tribune.
- Wherever Iron goes, we leave the broken wreckage of our enemies behind. We wouldn't miss this moment for anything. You can rely on us in the battle ahead, Commander.
- We are Iron Legion!
- Welcome to the war, Tribune. As you were!
