Power Dragonhunter Dragonhunter is a very strong build for instanced content. It's also a great pick for solo gameplay, as it has a very high range with Longbow and exceptionally good burst damage. It has good access to all important defensive boons, e.g. Stability.png Stability, Aegis.png Aegis, Resolution.png Resolution and Protection.png Protection.

Spear of Justice.png Spear of Justice Management[edit]

  • With Big Game Hunter Big Game Hunter, we need to maintain the tether from this skills to enemies to gain 25% damage against them. That's why this skill is priority #1 to maintain.
  • You will always have a small downtime on this, since the cooldown (~14 seconds with Alacrity.png Alacrity) is longer than the duration (12s).
  • If you want an easier option with lower damage, you can also use Heavy Light Heavy Light. This will give you a really good uptime on Stability.png Stability too!

Section Notes
General Stuff
Careful:This build scales with the number of Boons on yourself and Crippled.png Crippled on the enemy. For guidance on setting up the training area, see my guide for it
Opener
  • Start on Longbow and use the following skills:
  1. Hunter's Ward.png Hunter's Ward (Careful, this is easy to cancel!)
  2. Spear of Justice.png Spear of Justice
  3. Procession of Blades.png Procession of Blades
  4. Symbol of Energy.png Symbol of Energy
  5. Dragon's Maw.png Dragon's Maw
  6. True Shot.png True Shot (Optional, this is also easy to cancel!))
  7. Swap to Hammer
Section 1: Hammer
  • On Hammer, prioritize your auto attack chain with  Symbol of Protection.png Symbol of Protection on the final hit. Practice this a little bit on the golem, it's a good way to train yourself to pay attention to auto attacks. In between, use the following skills:
  1. Mighty Blow.png Mighty Blow: This is a leap skill, so be careful to not yeet yourself into danger.
  2. Banish.png Banish resets  Mighty Blow.png Mighty Blow, so wait until another  Mighty Blow.png Mighty Blow is ready and refresh it right after.
Section 2: Longbow
  • Longbow is your ranged weapon on demand, and the opener should be used to create burst damage every time when entering combat or pauses:
  1. For a general rotation flow with Longbow, always open and end with  Symbol of Energy.png Symbol of Energy. In between, use the following skills and fill with auto attacks:
  2. Hunter's Ward.png Hunter's Ward x 1: this is a stationary skill, meaning that you cannot move during the cast. Don't cancel this!
  3. True Shot.png True Shot x 3: another stationary skill, meaning that you cannot move during the cast. Don't cancel this!
  4. Optional:  Deflecting Shot.png Deflecting Shot x 2: this is a Daze, so save this for Breakbars if needed.
  5. Swap back to hammer once you can be in melee range again.

For OW, it can make sense to make a build more forgiving, so that you can sustain on your own.

Increasing General Survivability[edit]

  • Through the native synergies with Longbow, the easiest way to increase survivability is to stay on Longbow and kite dangerous attacks.
  • Your main sources of healing are  Litany of Wrath.png Litany of Wrath and Relic of Zakiros.pngRelic of Zakiros. These heal you based on your damage dealt, so keep pumping!
  • You will cover a full uptime on Resolution.png Resolution and Protection.png Protection on yourself, reducing all incoming damage noticeably.
  • You can use the Survivability Food and Utility item listed above for a decent strike damage reduction.
  • Swap out Zeal Zeal for Radiance Radiance:

  • That will cover a great Resolution.png Resolution uptime and increase your damage compared to Zeal Zeal when you're alone.
  • Renewed Justice Renewed Justice will keep recharging your  Spear of Justice.png Spear of Justice, allowing you to put it on every enemy as well as resetting it when you kill adds around bosses to benefit more consistently from 25% increased damage and Vulnerability.png Vulnerability on every hit.
  • For soloing harder content and group gameplay, the frequent Stability.png Stability from Heavy Light Heavy Light can really make a difference, so I'd recommend running that in those cases.
  • Radiance Radiance gives you 35% Critical chance, allowing us to trade gear for more Boon Duration.png Concentration, increasing coverage of defensive and offensive Boons.

Boon & Vulnerability.png Vulnerability Coverage[edit]

  • Since you can't always rely on other people covering boons for you, it can make sense to adjust your build to provide them for yourself, at least the important ones.
  • And let's face it: playing a build without Quickness.png Quickness feels horrible.
  • To do so, change your utility skills as follows:
Gear
Armor Prefix Rune
Trinket Prefix
Vial of Salt.png Amulet Diviner's
Gift of Prescience.png Ring 1 Diviner's
Armbrace of Truth.png Ring 2 Diviner's
Black Ice Earring.png Accessory 1 Diviner's

  • Also, change you utility skills to the following:

Litany of Wrath.png Litany of Wrath Immortality button once every 20 seconds, as it will heal you based on your damage dealt.
Sword of Justice.png Sword of Justice Strong Damage, full range and Vulnerability.png Vulnerability.
"Save Yourselves!".png "Save Yourselves!" Great for covering a more than 50% uptime on a lot of Boons. In groups, this transfers conditions to you from allies, so make sure to cleanse them off quickly.

Boon & Vulnerability.png Vulnerability Coverage
Boon Sources / Notes
General Notes Using the Diviner's Weapons and Trinkets grants ~50% Boon Duration, allowing you to maintain all essential boons on yourself.
Might.png Might Righteous Instincts Righteous Instincts provides passive Might.png Might and Inspired Virtue Inspired Virtue when using  Spear of Justice.png Spear of Justice. You won't cover 25 stacks on yourself, but it will mean that your damage will increase noticeably when it is provided externally.
Fury.png Fury "Feel My Wrath!".png "Feel My Wrath!" and  "Save Yourselves!".png "Save Yourselves!" provide a full uptime on it when used on cooldown
Quickness.png Quickness The standard dps build on Dragonhunter has no reliable source of Quickness.png Quickness. That's why we'll put a Superior Sigil of Celerity.pngSuperior Sigil of Celerity and Major Sigil of Celerity.pngMajor Sigil of Celerity on the Longbow and a Superior Sigil of Rage.pngSuperior Sigil of Rage on the second hammer, which will cover Quickness.png Quickness. Those paired with  "Feel My Wrath!".png "Feel My Wrath!" will do the trick, with some area Quickness.png Quickness on top.
Alacrity.png Alacrity None.
Protection.png Protection "Hold the Line!".png "Hold the Line!" and  "Save Yourselves!".png "Save Yourselves!" provide a full uptime on it when used on cooldown.  Shield of Courage.png Shield of Courage can be saved for emergencies, but provides additional uptime.
Resolution.png Resolution Your damage is strongly tied to having Resolution.png Resolution via Retribution (trait) Retribution and Righteous Instincts Righteous Instincts.  Litany of Wrath.png Litany of Wrath and  "Save Yourselves!".png "Save Yourselves!" provide a full uptime on it when used on cooldown.
Vulnerability.png Vulnerability Big Game Hunter Big Game Hunter and  Sword of Justice.png Sword of Justice provide a lot of stacks. Big Game Hunter Big Game Hunter applies a stack every time you hit a tethered enemy!
Jade Tech Offensive Overcharge.png Jade Tech Offensive Overcharge
Jade Tech Defensive Overcharge.png Jade Tech Defensive Overcharge
Jade Protocols give for 150 additional Toughness, Vitality, Condition Damage and Power as well as all boons aside from Stability.png Stability, Resistance.png Resistance and Resolution.png Resolution for 10 seconds on entering combat, once every 30 seconds. They make covering boons on yourself a lot easier!

Dealing with Conditions and Control effects[edit]

Dealing with CC and Conditions (Open World)
Default Skill Notes
Control effects You have two possible sources of Stability.png Stability:  Shield of Courage.png Shield of Courage and Heavy Light Heavy Light! Note that Heavy Light Heavy Light reduces your damage against regular mobs quite a bit, so I only recommend using it in boss fights.
Indomitable Courage Indomitable Courage makes  Shield of Courage.png Shield of Courage a Stun break with additional Stability.png Stability at a very low damage trade-off.

Signet of Judgment.png Signet of Judgment gives you a passive 10 % incoming damage reduction and another Stun break.

Condition cleanses With Resolution.png Resolution up all the time, incoming conditions are less of a threat to you compared to other builds.
Absolute Resolve Absolute Resolve makes  Wings of Resolve.png Wings of Resolve cleanse 5 conditions in total.
Symbol of Protection.png Symbol of Protection, Symbol of Energy.png Symbol of Energy and  Ring of Warding.png Ring of Warding are Light Fields, which you can use with Combo Finishers to cleanse conditions.
