A Pile of Crystalline Dust can be combined in the Mystic Forge with 3 stacks of 3 crests, orbs or doubloons each; repeated stacks of the same item may be used, but do not have to be. The recipe will result in one amalgamated gemstone, with a rare chance of more (5 has been confirmed as a possibility). Alternately, a bulk recipe can be used with 5 Globs of Ectoplasm and 3 stacks of 25 crests, orbs or doubloons, producing 10 Amalgamated Gemstones, with a rare chance of getting 25 (approximately a 10% chance).

Additionally, the mystic forging of four universal upgrades of DMasterwork or higher quality has a rare chance of being promoted to an amalgamated gemstone (between 2-4%).

Notably, completing all parts of the meta event in Inner Nayos rewards up to 3 Hero's Choice Chests daily. Meta events in all other zones only reward one at most.

Unlike other Hero's Choice Chests, the Janthir Syntri: Hero's Choice Chest and Castora: Hero's Choice Chest do not contain a choice of an Amalgamated Gemstone.

This means a total of 20 Hero's Choice Chests and subsequently Amalgamated Gemstones can be acquired via these meta events per day.

This does not take into account the small chances at more than 1 or 10 amalgamated gemstones.
