Kalidris Sparrowhawk is a tengu messenger who brings word of the icebrood's siege of the Dominion of Winds.

When the Tyrian Alliance reaches out to the tengu to join the international organization after the worldwide Kryptis invasions, the Dominion appoints Kalidris as the royal messenger to hear the delegates out with Kalidris hoping that the talks will eventually lead to the Dominion opening up their borders and embracing the rest of the world in full.

Biography

Early years

Kalidris is a young tengu, notable for her speed as a messenger. She was born to one of the four Great Houses of the Dominion of Winds but grew up friendless, dedicating her time to being a courier in adulthood. She claimed to know every route through the aerie. However, like many tengu, she was isolated within the Dominion, with very little knowledge of the outside world. By her admission she had only been outside the walls twice before her encounter with the Pact Commander.

The Icebrood Saga

The Dominion of Winds's western entrance was besieged by a large force of icebrood in 1333 AE. The icebrood attacked the nearby Town of Cathal, Caledon Haven and Hanto Trading Post on their way to the city. Kalidris was tasked with escaping across the bridge to Caledon Forest before the Frost Colossus sealed it. As she had only been across the wall two times before, she was uncertain of how she could summon aid for the besieged tengu. However, she encountered Canach and the Pact Commander who were rushing to stop the Elder Dragon Jormag's attacks. En route, Kalidris admitted that she had never even met a sylvari before and was curious if all were like Canach, to which Canach replied that most sylvari were similarly naive as Kalidris.

The reinforcements were stranded on the bridge, with the tengu unwilling to open the gates to prevent the Frost Colossus from breaking through. Kalidris was able to assist in defeating the Colossus and breaking the siege. Her fellow tengu were stunned that Kalidris had supposedly gathered an army and led the counter-attack in mere hours. In her conversations with the Pact Commander, Kalidris revealed the tengu's fears that the humans would exterminate them. The Commander recognised that Kalidris knew this was not true, and assured her that they would come to the tengu's aid. Kalidris had little influence on tengu society and was uncertain if the tengu would change their isolationist policies, but said she would begin sharing her tales of this collaboration in the tavern.

End of Dragons

Kalidris accompanied several volunteers from the Pact and Elona to Cantha by airship in 1335 AE to aid Canthans in fighting the maddened Elder Dragon Soo-Won who was threatening to spread the all-devouring Void beyond the confines of the Jade Sea. The combined forces of the three continents were ultimately able to weaken Soo-Won enough for the Pact Commander's party to defeat the manifested Dragonvoid and end Soo-Won's life so the Void invasion would cease at last.

Janthir Wilds

Act 1

In 1337 AE after the worldwide Kryptis incursions, Queen Jennah began the process of unifying Tyrian nations under a common alliance in Lion's Arch so the nations could better protect themselves as a united front against future threats. She sent invitations to talks to various nations, including the Dominion of Winds. Kalidris was sent as the tengu representative to the first Tyrian Alliance conference, where she was surprised at the new and strange experiences outside the Dominion, including the appearance of the ancient Seer Isgarren.

Absolution

In 1338 AE, Kalidris was present in another Tyrian Alliance meeting where Countess Anise and the Pact Commander informed the delegates about the details of their successful mission to end the titan threat in the ruins of Bava Nisos. Kalidris attended a subsequent victory celebration held in Lion's Arch, congratulating the Commander on a job well done. During the ensuing conversation she revealed that Empress Ihn and Kestrel leader Ayumi had been in talks with the Dominion of Winds about the Dominion possibly opening up to the rest of the world one day. Kalidris expressed hope that the talks between the two nations' leaders would bear fruit and that the Dominion's elders would agree to open the gates within their lifetimes.
