Power
Mechanist is a very simple-to-play elite specialization with a solid damage output. It's a great beginner pick for all kinds of Group PvE and solo gameplay. With a few larger gear change, it can provide itself with full uptimes on
Might,
Fury,
Quickness,
Alacrity and
Protection, making it a great damage and
Alacrity support build for open world! But don't underestimate its capabilities to solo difficult content, because it is excellent at that too!

- The concept of Mechanist is probably clear to most of you, but in brief: you have this green robot thing fighting with you, and depending on the trait choices you make in Mechanist, it will have different skills and inherit different attributes from you. Since this is an power build, we'll go for the highest
Power damage traits, but in open world, we will change a few of them.
First off, you can choose between
Mech Core: J-Drive and
Mech Core: Jade Dynamo:
Mech Core: J-Drive allows you to freely use your
Force Signet and
Shift Signet while retaining their passives. This gives you much more flexibility on your signet skills, at the cost of ~0.5-1k damage and self-
Quickness
Mech Core: Jade Dynamo is slightly higher damage and provides a good coverage of self-
Quickness. Self-
Quickness shouldn't be required for group content, especially as you provide some with
Radiant Arc anyway.
- To improve your gameplay, give Mech Controls a read to understand how the controls of the mech (and ranger pets) work.
- Sword & Pistol are a higher damage option, while rifle gives you very high range. You will still want to stay close to your mech, since your mech skills take longer to recharge when you are far away from it, and many boons and signet effects occur around the mech. Rifle is the easier and more forgiving option, but neither of them is actually difficult to play.
Careful: All variants scale with the number of conditions on the enemy. For guidance on setting up the training area, see my guide for it

Important Stats in Hero Panel (descending in Importance):
- At least 45% Critical Chance:
Fury gives 25% ,
High Caliber adds another 15% against enemies within close range and
Hematic Focus adds another 15% against foes affected by
Bleeding.
- Maximize Power
- Maximize Ferocity
- Ascended gear is always ideal, but exotic gear is fine for everything aside from higher-tier fractals. On a
Power build, prioritize getting Ascended Weapons because of their impact on Weapon Strength.
- Most of the gear in this build is shared with
Power
Scrapper, allowing you to play both with one gear set.

- For a budget variant, simply replace all ascended armor pieces of Berserker's with rare/exotic Berserker's.
- The secondary weapon set (Shortbow) is mostly there for ranged gameplay whenever it is needed in open world; more on this down below.
- Superior Sigil of Air is cheaper than Superior Sigil of Impact and yields similar results on the golem, but it is only single-target and lower damage against bosses with frequent breakbar phases.

For OW, it can make sense to make a build more forgiving, so that you can sustain on your own.
- A first step to increase survivability is to use
Relic of Zakiros . This is a massive boost to survivability when playing alone, as you will heal for 4 % of your damage dealt. Note that this only applies to the damage YOU deal, not the damage from your mech.
-
Barrier Signet applies smaller amounts of Barrier.
-
Utility Goggles paired with
Crisis Zone will cover
Protection with enough boon duration, giving you a whopping 33% less strike damage taken.
- Your strongest healing source is
Healing Turret. Using both casts does an absurd amount of healing, both directly and by blasting the water field from it. It also applies
Regeneration to you, which is boosted further by
Exigency Protocols.
- Rifle provides very high range, making it an excellent roaming weapon for open world. It is also great for tagging in event chains and kiting dangerous enemies if needed.
- Your mech is an idiot who stands in bad stuff, because Jade Tech is not as great as the people form Cantha want to make you believe. Use
Shift Signet to get it out of damaging fields. When it dies (which is unavoidable sometimes), wait a few seconds and then re-summon it with
Overclock Signet.
- Generally, beware of projectile reflecting enemies, these can kill you very quickly if you're not careful!
- Since you don't make much use of
Modified Ammunition when you're alone, the damage of this build gets lifted up noticeably when other people apply additional conditions!
Utility Skill Options (Open World) style="max-width:500px;"
| Skill Choice |
Notes
|
Healing Turret |
Strongest self-heal you have available and further maintains Regeneration on you and allies as well as cleansing conditions. Use both casts to blast the Water Field for additional healing.
|
Barrier Signet |
Used for Alacrity and Barrier coverage. Since you use it on cooldown, you don't really benefit from the passive mitigation.
|
Utility Goggles |
Stun break and source for Protection and Resistance. We're using it on cooldown for the Protection, but you can also save it for the Stun break or condition cleanse if needed.
|
Shift Signet |
Teleport, Stun break, condition cleanse and damage boost from copying your boons to the mech. I recommend saving this for emergencies.
|
Overclock Signet |
Save this to resummon your Mech when it is defeated. In group gameplay it is 'usually fine to use for damage.
|
- For much better boon coverage on yourself, you can change your gear loadout to the following (as much as you can or want to afford):

- Note that
Superior Rune of Fireworks is usually a great option for
Power builds to obtain boon duration, but boon duration is not inherited by your mech, only your
Concentration is. That's why I recommend going for Diviner's gear instead.
- If you can, make use of
Jade Tech Offensive Overcharge and
Jade Tech Defensive Overcharge.
- These give for 150 additional Toughness, Vitality, Condition Damage and Power as well as all boons aside from
Stability,
Resistance and
Resolution on entering combat every 30 seconds.
- If those changes are not comfortable enough for you, Short bow makes for a lower damage, but insanely tanky weapon with additional healing, Barrier, condition cleanses and
Protection on it. You can still do a solid ~14k DPS on your own with it!
