Text[edit]

Drugga's Audio Log: Day Thirteen
Drugga: Drugga. Electromancer. Lead of Artifact Recovery Krewe One.
Drugga: We're on our thirteenth day seabound, and I now understand why everyone avoids flying airships this far west.
Drugga: We've lost, what? Three vessels to the storms now?
Drugga: All fodder from Lion's Arch to test the path, mind you. But it's making me question whether I should've accepted Vloxx's offer.
Drugga: It wasn't much of a choice. The Arcane Eye wants my head, and Dynamics will never let me teach again.
Drugga: At least the director recognized the importance of my expertise. Being given asylum in the Inquest is the only reason I'm not in a cell.
Drugga: Now we just need to make it to this island alive. I was assigned to the director's vessel, so at least we'll be the last ship to sink.
Drugga's Audio Log: Day Fifteen
Drugga: We've arrived at Castora. This place is specimen to be studied.
Drugga: Untouched by time or war for... I can't easily hypothesize. I'd need more data to make an assessment.
Drugga: We've made contact with a settlement of survivors. All castaways whose ships didn't make it through the fog and storms intact.
Drugga: Many were even born here.
Drugga: But they're wary. Likely never seen a ship dock intact, let alone a small fleet. Vloxx and Kuda are meeting with their "mayor" now.
Drugga: Meanwhile, I'm getting the lay of the land. We're looking for an artifact of seer origin; very little detail is available.
Drugga: But the core of this artifact... We can only speculate it's[sic] capabilities, but Zinn's records suggest immense power.
Drugga: It would give Rata Sum and the Inquest so much power, in fact, that there would be no question of our technological superiority.
Drugga's Audio Log: Day Twenty
Drugga: The villagers warned us not to head inland, citing "unknown dangers." Their warnings weren't false.
Drugga: The coast is guarded by a crustacean comparable in size to Prototype X. It killed four of ours. Very competent scientists.
Drugga: The creature only stopped its assault after a tarnished astrolabe was kicked up from under the sand.
Drugga: It retrieved the artifact and backed into the bay. Once we started digging, we discovered a hundred other things in the sand too.
Drugga: One of the villagers claimed they were dropped by pirates who tried to steal treasures inland, only to be killed by "Kela."
Drugga: None of those are our artifacts, mind you, but if we can locate where they were stolen from, perhaps our target won't be far behind.
Drugga's Audio Log: Day Twenty-Six
Drugga: To help replenish our ranks, Vloxx has struck a deal with the dregs of this feeble society.
Drugga: The grunts call themselves "freebooters." Captain Hammerhart would probably trade her entire entourage for three barrels of gold.
Drugga: In return for labor, Vloxx gifted her some of our less useful equipment. Nothing mission critical.
Drugga: I suspect she'll use it to antagonize the village. We gave the mayor the same offer, but he rejected it. Logically, it's their loss.
Drugga: I'm just eager to get inland. We haven't discovered a safe path yet, but we're slowly carving a route that doesn't rouse the crab.
Drugga: Sebb wants to turn her into another experiment. I'd like to get those shackles into the lab.
Drugga's Audio Log: Day Twenty-Nine
Drugga: We made our way into the forest; deployed a base to the northeast. Now I've got scouting parties searching the west.
Drugga: While I wait for the scouts to return, I've been running tests on the more noteworthy artifacts recovered from the beach.
Drugga: Even inert, pure shadowstone is a marvel to inspect. Capable of storing unfathomable amounts of energy, but useless to me in its current state.
Drugga: I've tried powering it with ley and arcane energies. Nothing. The quantity of power seems to be irrelevant.
Drugga: I'm reminded of certain obstacles I faced during my Orrian studies. I recount a chasm somewhere in Malchor's Leap...
Drugga: Conduits crafted by the elder races often require the object to be attuned to a very specific type of magic to function.
Drugga: So, without a seer... Hrm. Curious.
Drugga's Audio Log: Day Thirty-Two
Drugga: We made it inside one of the temples... No small task. The entire forest is lined with traps and puzzles to protect them.
Drugga: Temple Alpha did not house our target in the end, but it did provide me with some excellent data on shadowstone.
Drugga: Ah, her name... Lets call her Assistant Two. Two discovered a hidden chamber filled with discarded weapons, thrown to the floor.
Drugga: When Assistant Two entered, they all danced to life.
Drugga: Assistant Two, of course, did not make it. I had one of the guards toss an arcane bomb inside to put her out of her misery.
Drugga: However, the explosion left a thick wall of magic from the disturbed weapons. It dissipated quickly, but I collected a small sample.
Drugga: I saturated a shard of shadowstone in that energy, and for a short time, the stone was charged. I fixed it to my pistol for testing.
Drugga: If this is just a taste of what Castora has to offer... Not only will Cantha be irrelevant, but the Inquest will be unstoppable. Fascinating.
Drugga's Audio Log: Day Thirty-Four
Drugga: Careless louts. We managed to navigate inside one of the more intriguing ruins—either a tomb to a very important seer or a reliquary.
Drugga: I'd just scavenged an axe faceted with the largest shard of shadowstone I've seen yet. Absolutely pristine. Intricately cut.
Drugga: It had the magical footprint of seventeen asura gates, but it was as light as a handheld scanner. Even inert!
Drugga: I was deciphering a plaque that likely detailed its purpose when one of the junior archeologists triggered a loaded trap.
Drugga: The boulder would've hit me if I hadn't been tackled out of the way. The axe, though...
Drugga: I reported the archeologist's mistake to Sebb directly, who will decide on punishment. Doubt I'll see them again regardless.
Drugga's Audio Log: Day Thirty-Seven
Drugga: The only thing worse than being chased down by the Arcane Eye is being chased down by the alliance's deputy.
Drugga: The commander brought a team to Castora. There's no walking back to the comforts of tenure at Dynamics now.
Drugga: Kuda wants to begin countermeasures, but Vloxx wants us focused on the mission. He'd rather we avoid the commander and keep moving.
Drugga: I guess it's not a wrong choice. Picking a fight before we must may not yield beneficial results.
Drugga: But I also understand Kuda's drive. She'd rather eliminate the problem before it has an opportunity to fester.
Drugga: In the meantime, I've asked if Vloxx can share anything else from Zinn's notes that might help. He says there's nothing.
Drugga: I suppose the only choice is to press on. Once we find this object, the alliance and their lapdogs won't be able to stop us anyway.
