Ura

Ura, the Steamshrieker, or Godscream Ura, is a titan imperatrix who is respected by both Decima, the Stormsinger and Greer, the Blightbringer. She is the third and final boss of the Mount Balrior raid. Ura's spheres of influence are geysers, rage, and boiling steam.[1] She claims to be far stronger than her stock. She is willing to reason with her enemies and is able to command her weaker godspawn brethren to obey her.

Biography[edit]

Early years[edit]

Ura and her fellow titans Greer, the Blightbringer and Decima, the Stormsinger traveled from the Foundry of Failed Creations in the Realm of Torment to Tyria through a Mists portal which was located deep within the mursaat city of Bava Nisos. Once the magical wards around the ravaged city vanished following the mursaat wizard Mabon's death in 1336 AE, the titans were free to spread out from the city.[2] The trio traveled south to Janthir Syntri and began spreading their corruption across the island. Ura chose Mount Balrior as her base of operations; unlike the other titans who spread their titanspawn around Janthir, Ura chose to keep her spawn mostly confined to the mountain. In the ensuing months, the titans began collecting and feeding on local bloodstone shards to increase their strength and regenerate. Their power surged during unusual storms known as Mists Tides when it was safer for them to feed on the shards.[3][4][5]

Janthir Wilds[edit]

Act 2[edit]

In 1337 AE, members from both the Lowland Kodan and the Tyrian Alliance began taking a foothold on Janthir Syntri to combat the titans' spreading corruption that was also manifesting as the troubling Mistburn phenomenon infecting local flora and fauna. While their allies were busy preventing Decima and Greer's continued drainings of the island's remaining bloodstone shards to empower themselves, the Pact Commander's party decided to use the knowledge gained from their bloodstone shard experimentation to neutralize many of the shards with the Heart of the Obscure and defeat the titan pair at the same time in their lair.

Before the party could deal the finishing blow against the weakened pair, however, they were forced to stand down when Ura made herself known via both commanding the titans to retreat to her and raising a steam wall between the fleeing titans and the pursuers. She addressed the Commander, claiming to be more powerful than the two titans, and offered the party a chance to retreat as long they let the titan pair go as she believed the Commander would listen to reason and not risk the exhausted party's lives in battle. After the Commander reluctantly backed down, Ura kept her end of the bargain and allowed the party to flee, while the heavily injured Greer and Decima retreated to her side at Mount Balrior.[6]

In a discussion that followed in the Wizard's Tower, the wizard lord Isgarren was surprised to learn of Ura's involvement while identifying her as the titan imperatrix.[7]

Godspawn[edit]

Ura stayed on Mount Balrior with most of her titanspawn, drawing power from bloodstone shards there, while the gravely injured Greer and Decima used the time to heal themselves. The titan trio stayed separated in their designated areas around the mountain, using bursts of hot air and energy to emit stormlike tones which both allowed them to communicate across great distances and prevent the Tyrian Alliance and the lowlanders from figuring out the content of their messages.[8]

Assisted by the Durmand Priory member Farrah Baelseeker's research where they fought against one of Ura's greater titanspawn and observed its fluctuating strength based on local weather phenomena, the Commander's party discovered how the Mists Tides' presence strengthened titans and allowed them to regenerate whereas the lack of such storms made them more vulnerable.[5] Realizing that an upcoming lull in storms would give them a chance to corner the titans and permanently kill them, the party began ascending the mountain a few days later, now also aided by the jotun wizard Dagda, Stoic Alder's spear master Barbed Vale, as well as Scholar Glenna on the sidelines. However, a sudden and unexpected storm moved towards the mountain at that time, blocking the further reinforcements from crossing the bay and forcing the assembled party to continue the trek by themselves.

The lengthy climb up the mountain, and back-to-back battles against the weakened but still dangerous Greer and Decima as well as the three titans' numerous spawn exhausted most members of the party, however, leaving only the Commander, Dagda, and Waiting Sorrow to continue onward until they reached the apex of the mountain. As the Commander touched a suspiciously unguarded and large bloodstone shard, Ura finally appeared in person. The titan imperatrix smelled Greer and Decima's corpses on the trio's garb, and became enraged that the Tyrians had not stayed away after their earlier parley. Using the Heart of the Obscure, the Commander neutralized the bloodstone shard and plugged the emerging geysers with the drained fragments while the trio slowly whittled down the titan's strength. Ura threatened to not only drag the trio to the Foundry of Failed Creations to build her fallen kin anew but to also pay Harvest Den a visit for this slight and avenge her kin by spilling lowlander blood. Her boasts only strengthened the trio's resolve to end her threat, however.

Unlike Greer and Decima who had panicked in their final moments, Ura remained bemused even as she drew her last breath. The titan imperatrix remarked that the trio's triumph would be short-lived because the door the titans had come through still remained open, leaving her opponents to ponder the implications of her foreboding words. The alliance would later learn that Ura had referred to a particular gateway deep within the city of Bava Nisos which had once been populated by the mursaat.

Isgarren: Mabon told me he went to hide a Mists gate that they kept in the gut of the city... He placed a ward over the isle.

<Character name Fortunately, I have some news. We located Farrah, the missing researcher, in Janthir Syntri.
