Rewards[edit]

Walkthrough[edit]

Start at Waypoint (map icon).png Foothold Bivouac Waypoint by speaking to Isgarren and PTM.

Complete the Visions of Eternity- Act 2.png The Doorstep of Divinity achievement to continue.

  • In Shipwreck Strand.
    • Castoran Magic Sample: Head down through Point of interest (map icon).png Flotsam Grotto Skimmerway and surface on the first island after the first stretch of ley-line.
    • Inert Shadowstone Shard: Enter Point of interest (map icon).png Spindrift Burrow from the northeast to find it in the central pile of treasure.
    • Arcane Spell Rune Sketch: Dive down into the water at the Mastery Insight by the Point of interest (map icon).png Inquest Supply Cavern and follow the path down until you reach the Orb Cavern jumping puzzle.
    • Seer Astrolabe: On a cliff just north of Point of interest (map icon).png Hammerhart Battery.
    • Gold Ceremonial Platter: Southeast of Point of interest (map icon).png Luminous Glade, where Castaway Sharpclaw stands for his events.
    • Ancient Tome: Dive down at Point of interest (map icon).png Blue Hole and follow the winding underwater path north to Point of interest (map icon).png Sailor's Heart.
  • In Starlit Weald.
    • Ineffable Spell Rune Sketch: Just west of Point of interest (map icon).png Sparkling Sanctum and one floor up, reached by either doing the Meandering Magic jumping puzzle or by flying in from the west.
    • Misplaced Research Log Box: Inside of the Point of interest (map icon).png Hidden Aquifer (start in the water below the Point of interest (map icon).png Priority Specimen Containment and dive down).
    • Weathered Stone Tablet: Just northeast of Point of interest (map icon).png Winding Haven, beside the Mastery Insight.
    • Crumbling Scroll: Southeast of Point of interest (map icon).png Ruined Nave, one floor up.
    • Vial of Whispering Water: At Point of interest (map icon).png Fountain of Blessings.
    • Murmuring Spell Sketch: In Point of interest (map icon).png Lost Grotto, reachable through an underwater tunnel to the north-northeast.

Return to Isgarren after completing the achievement. West of Waypoint (map icon).png Priory Expedition Waypoint is the first instance.

Consecrated Piazza[edit]

Simply speak with and follow Isgarren to reveal information about Sidony.

The next instance starts near Point of interest (map icon).png Starlight Bayou.

Overgrown Thicket[edit]

Start by searching for the vault's entrance (underneath the roots of a tree a fair bit southwest of the starting point). To open the vault, find 3 pressure plates near the glowing sections of the tree on ground level.

Once inside, head down into the antechamber to find Ancora (touch the Peculiar Orb by the pool at the bottom of the stairs for the Visions of Eternity- Act 2.png No Impulse Control achievement). Interact with all 7 objects in the antechamber then defeat Coalesced Ley Magic to collect 8 pieces of coalesced magic to get to the inner chamber and take Ancora from the back of it.

After Vloxx steals the staff, you will fight Sebb and his raptors. Initially he will be in a golem suit where he will use simple melee attacks, occasionally calling the raptors to race across the arena in attacks. He will also occasionally jump to the center of the arena with a big timed explosion, whereafter he will launch 3 slow but aggressively homing missiles (these have to be avoided for the Missile Maneuver achievement). The shockwave propagating from Sebb's big attack can't be evaded by dodging, but it can be jumped over or avoided by invulnerability or aegis effects.

Once Sebb has been reduced to 50% he will exit the suit (also awarding the Missile Maneuver achievement if the qualification is still there) and the augmented raptors Creation 5 and Creation 7 will start to fight at his side. He will be invulnerable when the raptors are still active (and will occasionally steal all boons from the Commander) but becomes vulnerable to damage for 23 seconds after both are defeated, whereupon he resurrects them. This will repeat until he reaches 10% health as the raptors turn on him at this point and he can be killed.

Return to Waypoint (map icon).png Dark Leviathan Waypoint for the final instance.

Soaring Sands[edit]

One final conversation with your comrades await, followed by a slightly more private one over the comms with Director Vloxx.

Speak with Isgarren, Rytlock, and Sayida and Canach after finishing the instance but before leaving for the Visions of Eternity- Act 2.png Things Are about to Get Interesting achievement.

Creation 5 and Creation 7 can be found at Point of interest (map icon).png Nestled Clutch after completing the Overgrown Thicket instance, and can be interacted with for the Visions of Eternity- Act 2.png A Fresh Start on Life achievement.

Story and replay checkpoints[edit]

Four checkpoints are available during the story and can be freely accessed afterwards when replaying the episode for achievements:

Living World (replay).png Replay Path of Divinity: Cloister of Stars for achievements? (Help Isgarren channel a seeking spell to trace Ancora's magic.) — The Cloister of Stars instance.
Living World (replay).png Replay Path of Divinity: Overgrown Thicket for achievements? (Find Ancora.) — At the start of Overgrown Thicket instance.
Living World (replay).png Replay Path of Divinity: Overgrown Thicket for achievements? (Find Ancora.) — At the gate of the vault's inner chamber in Overgrown Thicket instance.
Living World (replay).png Replay Path of Divinity: Soaring Sands for achievements? (Strategize next moves to stop Vloxx.) — The Soaring Sands instance.

Achievements[edit]

  • Mandatory for story progress.
  • Available during the Overgrown Thicket instance.
  • The missiles are the ones launched by Principal Biomancer Sebb in his golem suit after performing a big attack at the center of the arena. As such, the achievement is awarded after reducing Sebb to 50% health without getting hit by any of the missiles.
    • The missiles have very aggressive tracking but aren't that fast, so as long as you keep your distance and keep moving, you should be able to stay out of the way until they self-destruct.
    • The missiles can also be blocked, if you can manage enough blocks to cover all three in each salvo.
  • Quitting out after reaching this encounter but before finishing it will put you at picking up Ancora when you re-enter, allowing for easy retries.
  • Eligibility is tracked by the effect Achievement effect.png Achievement Eligibility: Missile Maneuver.
  • Interact with the Peculiar Orb, found at the bottom of the stairs after entering the vault in the Overgrown Thicket instance.
  • Simply speak with all 3 (technically 4) characters after finishing the Dark Leviathan instance but before leaving it.
  • Complete the mission.
  • Can only be done by a character that has finished the Story Mission.
  • Available after completing the Overgrown Thicket instance (defeating Sebb).
  • Both raptors are found south of Waypoint (map icon).png Priory Expedition Waypoint at Point of interest (map icon).png Nestled Clutch.
  • Pet either of them to complete the achievement.

Dialogue[edit]

Calling Vloxx at the beginning of the story
<Character name>: Vloxx, if you can hear me, I know about Ancora.
Director Vloxx: You're a quick study, Commander.
<Character name>: Are you planning to empower yourself like the seers did?
Director Vloxx: In the short term, but not forever. I've no desire for power or legacy.
Director Vloxx: It's enough that I do good, even if I'm forgotten.
<Character name>: And what would you do with that power?
Director Vloxx: I can't know exactly what the optimal strategy will be yet.
Director Vloxx: The rite will give me insight beyond what I have now, and I will adjust my plans accordingly.
Director Vloxx: But my goals will remain unchanged. I'm going to return control of Tyria's future to her people.
Director Vloxx: The next generation of those like you.
<Character name>: I can't let anyone use Ancora, Vloxx. I've seen what power like this does to people. It's too dangerous.
<Character name>: I need you to trust me. We will find a better way. We can keep Tyria safe together.
Director Vloxx: Very well, if that's how you see it. We will speak again soon.
Speaking to Isgarren at the Foothold Bivouac
<Character name>: You should've told us at the start. I need answers, Isgarren. Now.
Isgarren: I thought Castora to be impenetrable to the Inquest. Their goals futile... But this "director" is smarter than I anticipated.
Isgarren: If he seeks Ancora... If he understands what it is and what it does...
Isgarren: I dampen the memories of my wizards to ensure that they are of unbiased mind when they obtain that power. Vloxx would keep his.
Isgarren: And this version of the rite is raw—it is how I ascended. It does not belong in the hands of a fanatic.
<Character name>: Then we need to find it before he does. You're a seer—where's the staff kept?
Isgarren: I...don't know. Entire eras have come and gone since I was last here.
<Character name>: Fine. If the Inquest pushed this far into the forest, we know it's somewhere here or deeper inside.
<Character name>: I'll check with PTM, too. He might know if they've found anything.
Talking to PTM
<Character name>: PTM, have there been any updates on whether Vloxx has found...whatever it is he's looking for?
PTM: Most objectives are still listed as "open." Although a handful now say "empty." We have not located the object.
PTM: Perhaps the archeological sites could provide more information for your search, Commander.
Zeke: (barks)
PTM: Digging is a fun activity. Limitless potential for discovery.
<Character name>: Thanks, PTM. I'll do that.

Isgarren

My Cooperation

If you're struggling to locate any clues of note, return to me at camp, and perhaps we can talk it over more together. I promise I will not retreat to the shadows like some frightened creature.

Somewhere near this waypoint.

Waypoint (map icon).png Foothold Bivouac Waypoint

Talking to Isgarren
Do you require insight on something, Wayfinder?
Talk collection option.png Any suggestions on where I could search for clues? (shows the location of clues on world map)
My memories of Castora are vexingly tenuous; so much has changed. But you might try searching these areas.
Talk end option tango.png No, I think I'm fine, actually.
Interacting with the Arcane Spell Rune
(As you touch the rune, you can feel a subtle power coursing under your fingers. An image flashes through your mind... An intricate circle, filled with stars. Seers are congregating on top of it.)
Talk end option tango.png Strange... Have I seen that place before?
Interacting with the Gold Ceremonial Platter
Sally: Hey! Get yer paws off that! I found it, fair and square.
Talk more option tango.png Where did you find it?
Sally: Carcyn has this plan about luring crabs, so I was digging around in the sand looking for bait. And then I hit gold. Literally! This'll be way better than luring crabs.
Talk more option tango.png Better for...what exactly?
Sally: We're trying to appeal to Kela to earn her favor and protection. The little crabs love food and will happily follow you around if you feed them. Well, Kela's a crab too, right?
Talk more option tango.png I don't think—never mind. How does the platter factor into this?
Sally: Duh! You think Kela would listen to our pleas if I just threw a meal into the sand? No! But served on a gold platter—now that would make a good impression.
Charisma You said yourself, crabs love food. I don't think Kela would be too impressed by inedible gold. Dented, tarnished gold. (same as below)
Dignity If I were Kela, I would rather protect those who demonstrate worth through character and treatment of others than flashy displays of wealth. (same as below)
Ferocity I've seen firsthand how Kela reacts around artifacts like this. You don't want Kela to catch you with this in your possession. Rethink your plan if you like being alive.
Sally: You...raise a good point. I suppose I'd be better off helping Carcyn. He's excited about his idea, but he lacks confidence. He'll need backup if we want it to work.
Talk more option tango.png I don't suppose I could take this platter off your hands, then?
Sally: Yeah, take it. If what you say is true, it's more trouble than it's worth. Kela's protection is more valuable than gold, so that's what I have to focus on.
Talk story option.png Thanks! And good luck to you and Carcyn. (grants Gold Ceremonial Platter)
Talk end option tango.png That seems like a solid plan. Good luck.
Talk end option tango.png Good luck with that, then.
Talk end option tango.png I see.
Talk end option tango.png Good luck with that, then.
Talk end option tango.png Sorry.
Interacting with the Ineffable Spell Rune
(As you touch the rune, you can sense the depth of its magic. It's a little overwhelming. An image flashes through your mind... Grand temples and abbeys surround you. You suddently feel a longing sadness.)
Talk end option tango.png Fascinating. It's like I'm remembering something that's gone...
Interacting with the Misplaced Research Log Box
Trinna: Overseer, just wanted to fill you in on recent developments at the forest base.
Trinna: Still no word on this thing the director has us searching for. Probably deeper inland.
Trinna: Only just starting to touch the surface of these temples, though. They're pretty magnificent, actually—
Inquest Grunt: Trinna, I need you over here!
Trinna: If you muck up the excavation site... Damn you, just wait for me!
Inquest Grunt: We'll commence without you.
Trinna: I'm. Coming.
Trinna: Gotta make this fast. Vloxx has Sebb attacking another seneschal. This one's a lot angrier than the massive crustacean.
Trinna: But with the alliance on our trail now, this is turning into a race. Sebb is starting to escalate. Vloxx is eerily calm.
Trinna: If only out mission leadership had your composure, Overseer. But I'll report back if anything else turns up.
Interacting with the Murmuring Spell Rune
(As you touch the rune, you think you hear a voice—you can't make out anything it's saying or what it is, but it feels angry. An image flashes through your mind... A graven image of a seer, standing guard.)
Talk end option tango.png I should report this to Isgarren.
Returning to Isgarren after completing the collection
"Scudo." The shield."Falta." refers to those who have not been granted permission to enter these grounds."Santuro." The sacred place.
Seer binding runes: Scudo • Falta • Santuro
Isgarren: They're turning this place into an antiquary's haven. The culture of my people, plundered and turned to profit.
(If asura or sylvari)
<Character name>: The seneschal is slowing them down, at least. We should thank it for holding them off this long.
(Otherwise) [verification requested]
<Character name>: The seneschal is giving them a heck of a time, at least. We should thank it for holding them off this long.
Isgarren: Such a crude fate... Stuck protecting this place until Sidony's shackles fall. He only sought self-preservation.
Isgarren: Don't let my ire distract. Did you locate anything else of note?
(If asura, human or sylvari)
<Character name>: I did find these runes. When I touched them, I saw...images. Felt a little warm, too. Definitely active magic.
(If charr or norn)
<Character name>: Found some runes. When I touched them, I saw images. Felt a little warm, too. Probably active magic.
Isgarren: Runes? Where were they?
<Character name>: Embedded into rocks—or maybe they were shrines. Spread out across the coast and forest. I found three.
Isgarren: Describe them to me.
Speaking to Isgarren
Describe these runes you that encountered, Wayfinder. What did you feel when you approached them?
Talk story option.png One was in a flooded coastal cave. It held a subdued but immense power.
Isgarren: "Scudo." The shield.
Isgarren: Every trap, weapon, and threat that reacts to our presence is powered by that rune. Even the fog that surrounds this island.
Talk story option.png Another was high on a ledge to the north. Its magic was overwhelming.
Isgarren: That would be "falta."
Isgarren: It refers to those who have not been granted permission to enter these grounds.
Talk story option.png One was in a hidden grotto east of here. I thought I heard a voice when I touched it.
Isgarren: "Santuro." The sacred place.
Isgarren: It is in reference not only to the island, but to the sacred ritual grounds.
Isgarren: While the threats we've faced have been immense, they will only get worse the farther we travel inland.
Talk end option tango.png I need a moment to collect my thoughts.
Speaking with Isgarren again
Isgarren: These are binding runes. Each represents a different facet of a very immense spell.
Isgarren: These images that you saw, did they evoke anything?
<Character name>: Reminded me of that plaza... I was there earlier, trying to find you.
Isgarren: The plaza... Yes, of course. If I can locate the hook... Hm. Perhaps I can channel a seeking spell.
<Character name>: Meaning?
Isgarren: You need to get us to the plaza.

Cloister of Stars instance[edit]

Meeting Isgarren
<Character name>: So, what are we doing here?
Isgarren: When someone casts a spell that requires multiple binding runes, it demands a lot of the caster. That essence clings to the air.
Isgarren: If I can grab hold of the point where the spell was originally cast...we may be able to witness when the runes were conjured.
Isgarren: Let me concentrate. It'll make more sense if I can show you...
Isgarren: I hear it.
Isgarren: Come, Wayfinder.
Arriving at the conjuration site
Isgarren: (grunts)
(The echoes of Isgarren and Sidony appear.)
Isgarren: Ah.
<Character name>: It's...you?
Echo of Sidony the Shadowkeeper: You are ignorant.
Echo of Isgarren: Am I to leave all who turn to us for help to crumble? We already abandoned the mursaat to battle Zhaitan alone—
Echo of Sidony the Shadowkeeper: The kodan Voice was not going to die. She was simply not ready to wield the power that stood before her.
Echo of Sidony the Shadowkeeper: So, you gifted her ours. What logic guided you toward that choice?
Echo of Isgarren: I saved her soul from Koda's claws.
Echo of Sidony the Shadowkeeper: You mutilated our power to your will. Your turned the Rite of Divinity into a parlor trick.
Echo of Sidony the Shadowkeeper: You betrayed us, Isgarren. And this is but the peak of your ever-building sedition. Time and time again you chose yourself.
Echo of Sidony the Shadowkeeper: Especially now, as the mursaat seek our blood... I cannot allow your negligence to flourish as war rages against us.
Echo of Isgarren: Sidony, listen to reason. I have never stepped against you.
Echo of Sidony the Shadowkeeper: You are too great a risk and must be struck from this place. You are not of my flock any longer.
Echo of Isgarren: You need me.
Echo of Sidony the Shadowkeeper: You are banished, Isgarren. Exiled from our people! No home. No belonging. No asylum.
Echo of Sidony the Shadowkeeper: My seneschal will attack you. Your mind will fail you! If you touch Ancora again, your flesh will burn.
Echo of Isgarren: (groans)
Echo of Sidony the Shadowkeeper: Leave.
Echo of Sidony the Shadowkeeper: (sighs)
Echo of Sidony the Shadowkeeper: Scudo. Falta. Santuro.
Speaking with Isgarren
<Character name>: I knew you were exiled, but... He cursed you?
Isgarren: And he left all of this to punish and mock me. Am I so theatrical to you now, Wayfinder?
Isgarren: From the fog that surrounds this place, to every trap left behind... It is a stronghold, built to keep me out.
Isgarren: It simply proved effective at keeping everyone else away, too. Until now.
(If asura)
<Character name>: That explains why you tolerated a two-week stay on Sayida's ship...
(If charr)
<Character name>: Explains why you put up with a two-week stay on Sayida's ship...
(If human)
<Character name>: Explains why you stomached a two-week stay on Sayida's ship...
(If norn)
<Character name>: Explains why you endured a two-week stay on Sayida's ship...
(If sylvari)
<Character name>: Certainly explains why you endured a two-week stay on Sayida's ship...
Isgarren: If I could fix any of this myself, I would have long ago...
As the Echo of Sidony starts moving
<Character name>: Wait, he's moving.
Echo of Sidony the Shadowkeeper: We must abandon this place before war reaches our shores. It is time.
Echo of Sidony the Shadowkeeper: Perhaps the tree...
Isgarren: Although fading, the final flickers of his essence drift southward...
<Character name>: Is that where the artifact is? Can you follow it?
Isgarren: I should be able.
<Character name>: Then let's go.

Overgrown Thicket instance[edit]

Meeting your allies in the Overgrown Thicket
Isgarren: The vault should be near. Even though my senses are dulled, I can hear the low echo of Ancora's call.
<Character name>: Let's spread out and find a way in.
Finding the entrance
<Character name>: I think I found the entrance.
When your allies arrive
Isgarren: Strange, Sidony's spell. I didn't know the way, and yet... There it is, nestled in my memory. How prosaic.
Rytlock Brimstone: Nasty magic.
Isgarren: Indeed. Now, my people were as theatrical as they were pragmatic. By the looks of it, the door is sealed by a tiered balancing charm.
Isgarren: To enter, we'll need to manually activate each tier to disengage the lock. The activation points shouldn't be too far...
Isgarren: But since we don't have a vault keeper in our presence, you will need to activate them, Wayfinder. I worry what it might do if I tried.
<Character name>: I'll start looking.
Activating the first pressure plate
<Character name>: I felt that...
Sayida the Sly: You'd think the seers would reinforce their territory a little more securely, given everything they left behind...
Isgarren: These defenses were always meant to be a temporary safeguard.
Isgarren: Sidony hoped that he'd return, should the mursaat fall. But... He before they.
Rytlock Brimstone: To their credit, only we've made it this far.
Opening the vault door
Rytlock Brimstone: Careful. Who knows what's waiting for us in there. Or, do you, Isgarren?
Isgarren: I do not, but I echo you caution, Tribune. Follow me. And try not to touch anything unless I instruct you to.
Entering the vault
(If asura)
<Character name>: Impressive.
(If charr)
<Character name>: Huh.
(If human)
<Character name>: Wow.
(If norn)
<Character name>: Hm.
(If sylvari)
<Character name>: Fascinating.
Sayida the Sly: Reminds me of Elona. Thousands of years of secrets, buried away in the sand.
Rytlock Brimstone: Eh. When you've been in one ancient tomb, you've seen 'em all.
Isgarren: (groans)
<Character name>: You hanging in there?
Isgarren: This place is drenched in Sidony's spite. I can sense his grimace through the veil.
Sayida the Sly: Sure wanted to keep you out, huh?
Isgarren: I broke rules and was punished for it. I'm not undeserving...by my people's standard, that is.
Isgarren: I shouldn't interact with anything. You must search on my behalf. Please, use a delicate hand.
Examining the key-like artifact
<Character name>: Probably not our artifact, if it's just sitting out...
Examining with the dagger-like artifact
<Character name>: It's a staff we're looking for. Right, Isgarren?
Isgarren: Yes.
Examining the warhorn-like artifact
Isgarren: Don't touch it, Wayfinder. Not unless you want all your vital fluids to evaporate in an instant.
Examining the Ancient Archive
<Character name>: A lot of scrolls in here. Wonder if the Astral Ward or Durmand Priory could preserve them...
Examining the scroll-like artifact
<Character name>: No mention of "Divitium Nava."
Examining the candelabra-like artifact
<Character name>: I wonder if the seers had any idea that their creations would cause so much strife.
Examining the tablet-like artifact
<Character name>: Beautiful.
Having finished checking everything
<Character name>: Well, we're definitely in the right place. But we need to go farther inside.
Isgarren: An echo grows louder... Perhaps... Yes, we must go deeper.
Speaking with Isgarren
Isgarren: This vault is sealed by shadowstone—ancient seer magic used to store immense power.
Rytlock Brimstone: Like bloodstone, yeah?
Isgarren: One inspired the other, so to say. But shadowstone is far more powerful, and more pure.
Isgarren: Inert as it is now, the stone is useless. But my heritage serves our purpose; I can form the magic that the stone feeds on.
Isgarren: Wayfinder, you'll need to collect the coalesced energy and deposit it in the stone. Even inert, it reaches for me. And it's ravenous.
Isgarren: I will begin. Prepare yourselves.
After collecting enough coalesced magic
Isgarren: There...
Isgarren: Proceed.
Upon entering the inner chamber
Sayida the Sly: I'm no stranger to spelunking, but this... This one feels different. Is it colder in here?
Isgarren: We are likely the first living beings to enter this place in a millennium. The magic senses us. It's curious.
Unknown: Set with shadowstone.
Unknown: Spun with our blood.
Approaching Ancora
<Character name>: This is it, isn't it?
Unknown: Woven from mist.
Isgarren: It is revolted by my essence. Wayfinder?
Taking Ancora from its pedestal
Unknown: Who are you?
<Character name>: In-incredible.
Unknown: Do you deserve this?
<Character name>: Does anyone else hear that?
Sayida the Sly: Oh yeah, I do. Got a hell of a lot louder when you picked it up, too. I am not a fan.
Isgarren: Those who crafted Ancora sacrificed a piece of their essence to it. You are hearing all of them, all at once.
Rytlock Brimstone: Sounds way too powerful to be tucked away on some island.
Isgarren: Sidony thought its destruction would mark our demise. Otherwise, it would have been destroyed long ago.
Unknown: Do you wish to ascend?
(There is a rumbling sound and the ceiling shakes.)
Sayida the Sly: What was that?
<Character name>: I don't know, but let's get eyes on whatever it was.
Upon returning back to the center of the chamber, a cutscene plays
(A shock knocks everyone down. Ancora drops to the ground. Vloxx and Sebb appear.)
Director Vloxx: You don't see the necessity of my path yet. But you will, Commander.
(Vloxx picks up Ancora.)
Director Vloxx: You're results-oriented, always have been. That's fine. You'll come around.
Director Vloxx: Sebb, keep them occupied.
Principal Biomancer Sebb: I'll handle it. Get out of here.
(As they pass by each other, Vloxx looks at Sebb before turning back.)
Director Vloxx: Take your time.
(Sebb whistles, and two augmented raptors appear.)
After the cutscene
Overseer Kuda: Looks like you've got this under control.
Principal Biomancer Sebb: Are you leaving already?
Overseer Kuda: Yeah. Just like you left me on that beach to be eaten by a crab.
Principal Biomance Sebb: (scoffs) Don't assume I need you, Kuda—because I don't.
Principal Biomance Sebb: Stand down. I want to have my fun first.
Isgarren: I can...cast a ward. But not much else. The explosion released... (groans) You must...
Fighting Sebb
(Random lines during the fight)
Principal Biomance Sebb: It's not your turn!
Principal Biomance Sebb: Vloxx and I will carve a new path!
Principal Biomance Sebb: Patience!
Principal Biomance Sebb: Everything is going to change.
Once Sebb hits 50% and leaves his golem suit
Principal Biomance Sebb: Useless machine. I will end this myself!
Principal Biomance Sebb: Five! Seven! To my side.
Whenever the raptors are fixated on you
An enemy is fixated on you.
Rytlock Brimstone: Eyes on the raptors!
After killing both the raptors
(One of the following)
Principal Biomance Sebb: Get up!
Principal Biomance Sebb: (growls) Get. Back. Up.
Principal Biomance Sebb: Pointless creature!
When the raptors are revived
Principal Biomance Sebb: You don't get to rest!
During the fight
Principal Biomance Sebb: I promise to utilize your innards in my next innovation!
Principal Biomance Sebb: Just surrender!
Once Sebb reaches about 10% health
Principal Biomance Sebb: Finish them!
Principal Biomance Sebb: Not me, you mindless fools!
Principal Biomance Sebb: Not me!
Principal Biomance Sebb: (screams)
After defeating Sebb
<Character name>: Good job, you two.
Creation 5: (chirps)
Sayida the Sly: What do we do with them?
Rytlock Brimstone: Put them out of their misery.
<Character name>: No... We should free them. Sebb's dead, so I don't know if they pose any danger now. And this is their home.
Aborting control using the Mind-Control Device
<Character name>: You can go.
<Character name>: Go.

Checking on Isgarren
(If asura)
<Character name>: Isgarren? Blink for me, please!
(If charr)
<Character name>: You good? [verification requested]
(If human)
<Character name>: Isgarren? Can you hear me?
(If norn)
<Character name>: Isgarren? Come on, I've seen you take worse.
(If sylvari)
<Character name>: Isgarren? Try not to move.
Isgarren: My well-being is the least of our worries now.
Rytlock Brimstone: Well, the annoying one is dead. We won a battle.
Sayida the Sly: Yeah, but Vloxx has the staff.
<Character name>: Let's get Isgarren out of here first. Then we can figure out what to do.
Isgarren: (groans)

Soaring Sands instance[edit]

Regrouping with your allies on the Dark Leviathan
<Character name>: Time to figure out our next steps...
Canach: Allow me to set the stage. We've got an idealistic genius with menacing but vague aspirations on the run—oh, and he's Inquest.
Canach: And now he has a staff that will grant him potentially limitless power. And grant others the same.
Canach: Have I missed anything?
Sayida the Sly: That's about it, yeah. And we still don't know what he wants to do with it all.
Canach: At least you killed the snarly one... Sebb, was it? The patrons of Pub Canach have had a lot to say about him.
Rytlock Brimstone: If Vloxx could perform the rite with just the staff, he'd have done it already. What else does he need?
Isgarren: Deeper in the island, there's a well of immense power. It is where Ancora was crafted and where our rituals were performed.
Isgarren: He must take Ancora to those grounds first if he wishes to perform the rite.
(If asura)
<Character name>: You think he knows how? Can a non-seer actually pull this off?
(If charr or norn) [verification requested]
<Character name>: Think he knows how? Can a non-seer pull it off?
(If human)
<Character name>: Think he knows how? Can a non-seer actually pull this off?
(If sylvari)
<Character name>: Do you think he knows how? Can a non-seer truly accomplish this?
Isgarren: It would not be an easy feat, but it is not impossible. And he has proven his cunning at every turn...
Isgarren: The Kryptis were driven by gluttony and revenge. The titans by instinct. We don't know what drives Vloxx.
Isgarren: And now he wields one of the most dangerous conduits in Tyria. And we don't know what he seeks to do with it.
Isgarren: He is a very real threat to us and all of our people. Now, we must stop him before his aspirations turn it all to ash.
Vloxx's call via communicator immediately after
Director Vloxx: Before I say anything else, I must thank you for disposing of Sebb for me.
Director Vloxx: In the end, his cruelty far outweighed his usefulness. He will not be missed.
Director Vloxx: I regret that things have gone this way, Commander. You deserve better, but circumstances have dictated my choices for me.
<Character name>: You need to stop this, Vloxx. While there's still time.
Director Vloxx: That there is still time is exactly why I must continue. The future of our world is at stake.
Director Vloxx: Tyria has survived a dozen crises because of you. We may not survive the next if we don't act now.
Director Vloxx: I am still not your enemy. I hope you will see that soon enough. But for now, I must continue onward, regardless.
<Character name>: You don't have to do this, Vloxx.
Director Vloxx: I do, Commander. Someone must, and no one else will.
Talking to Canach
Commander, care to talk some sense into our dear pirate queen?
Talk quest option tango.png Don't sign me up to mediate...
Sayida the Sly: Are you ready to admit I was right about Vloxx?
Canach: Not at all. Have you forgotten your first meeting with the commander? You tried to turn them in to Joko for a bounty.
Sayida the Sly: That was different!
Canach: It was! You didn't even believe you were saving the world by doing so.
Sayida the Sly: It was a mistake, and one I've more than atoned for.
Canach: Exactly, which is precisely why it is too early to pass definitive judgment on Director Vloxx.
Sayida the Sly: You're an ass.
Canach: I humbly accept your concession, my dear.
Talk end option tango.png Hold that thought.
Talking to Isgarren
Wayfinder.
Talk quest option tango.png What are you thinking?
Isgarren: I once thought that I knew the solution to each of the world's problems.
<Character name>: You don't?
Isgarren: It's impossible to know.
Talk end option tango.png Isgarren.
Talking to Rytlock Brimstone
(sighs) Got a bad feeling about all this.
Talk quest option tango.png Certainly got a lot more questions than answers...
Rytlock Brimstone: No matter how noble the vision, no one should have this kind of power.
<Character name>: No kidding.
Rytlock Brimstone: Heh. I'm not telling you anything you don't already know. What do you think he wants to do with it, anyway?
<Character name>: He said that he wanted to "return Tyria's destiny to the hands of her people." Still not sure what that entails.
Rytlock Brimstone: Yeah. It's just not lining up for me yet—especially since a part of the Arcane Council was on board.
Rytlock Brimstone: Even if Flax financed this, Vloxx isn't a big fan of the council. Whatever he sold them on them [sic] was a false bill of goods.
<Character name>: Guess we should catch Ludo up, if we can get a decent signal to the mainland...
Rytlock Brimstone: I'll take care of that. Wanted to see if I could touch base with Cre anyway.
Talk end option tango.png Hold that thought.

My story[edit]

Starlit Weald loading screen.png

Following our revelation in the temple, I demanded answers from Isgarren. After everything we'd endured from him, this was not the time for silence. He reiterated that Vloxx will need Ancora if he truly wishes to perform the ritual and ascend. I pressured Isgarren for more information, but his memories of Castora are obscured-a great deal of time has passed since he last dwelled here.

Since the Inquest haven't ceased their search, we can assume that they've yet to locate the artifact. It's likely hidden somewhere in the forest or even deeper into the island. I checked in with PTM as well, who at least confirmed that it's yet to be discovered.

After digging through various Inquest excavation sites and abandoned seer grounds, I returned to Isgarren. While I hit a few dead ends, I happened upon three runes imbedded into the environment. When I touched the runes, hazy images rolled through my mind: seers congregating, a seer statue, and a circle of stars. Isgarren's interest was piqued. He called them binding runes and said that they each represent a different facet of a powerful spell. When I told him that they evoked the ancient plaza that I found while looking for him, Isgarren suggested that we go there next.

***

I met with Isgarren back at the Consecrated Piazza. There, he was able to trace the origin of the runes. He explained that binding runes require an immense well of power and demand much from the caster, so they often leave a trail of essence where they were set. If he could trace that essence to the origin of the spell, we'd be able to witness the moment when the runes were conjured.

After casting his seeking spell, two massive astral projections of Isgarren and Sidony, the former leader of the seers, emerged. Isgarren was shaken by the vision. The projection of Sidony scolded Isgarren for ascending Waiting Sorrow, a building monolith of Isgarren's "mistakes," and banished Isgarren. Sidony cursed and set Castora's defenses against him.

This is why Isgarren has been so...difficult.

The visage of Sidony flickered southward, presumably in the direction of Ancora, mumbling about a tree. With this information, Isgarren believes that he may be able to locate the artifact that Vloxx seeks.

***

Joined once again by Rytlock and Sayida, we met Isgarren at the foot of the tree that Sidony spoke of. Although his senses are dulled, Isgarren claimed that he heard the low mumble of Ancora's call somewhere beneath us.

After a bit of searching, we were able to locate the entrance to the vault. The door was sealed by what Isgarren called a tiered balancing charm, and he explained that each tier must be manually disengaged before we're able to enter. After securing each tier, we were able to open the vault. We ventured inside.

The vault was filled with ancient seer weapons and artifacts. After determining that none of the artifacts in our presence was the one we sought, Isgarren guided us towards a large door affixed with a piece of shadowstone. Unable to interact with the stone directly due to Sidony's curse, Isgarren instructed me to do as we did on the ship before-he would channel the dormant seer magic around us, and I would collect their essence to deposit it into the stone.

***

Once the stone was charged, the door to the vault rolled open, revealing a cavernous chamber. Isgarren grimaced at the magic that hung in the air, it having coalesced over a millennia. And suddenly I could hear the whispers of Ancora, too.

At the end of the chamber atop a dais was an unmistakable artifact: Ancora.

As we approached the pedestal, Isgarren asked me to pick up the artifact. Whispers surged-ancient power flowed through me. With the artifact in hand, we foolishly allowed ourselves to indulge in a moment of reprieve. Then I was knocked to the ground.

When I came to my senses, I was on the floor, and Vloxx was backing away with Ancora. Vloxx suggested I would come around once I saw results, then left Sebb to keep us occupied. As Sebb stepped between us, Vloxx said, "Take your time," but who that was meant for is unclear.

Kuda took off after Vloxx, seemingly gleeful about abandoning her supposed ally. Eventually, his mech failed him, too, and Sebb was forced to fight us on foot. Even with the raptors at his side, he proved to be little more than a wall that blocked our way. Something went awry with his tech, and the creation turned on the creator-we watched as his raptors ripped him to shreds.

After liberating Sebb's creations, we turned to Isgarren. He was already weak from the energies in the vault, and the explosion only worsened his state.

Before discussing our next steps, we need to get him to clearer air.

***

I returned to the Dark Leviathan to check on my allies following the battle. While we were able to celebrate one victory with Sebb's defeat, everyone is nervous now that Ancora is in Vloxx's possession.

Isgarren echoed these fears, especially with as little as we know about Vloxx's intentions. When Isgarren performed the lesser version of the ritual on the members of the Wizard's Court, he dampened their memories so that they would be of unbiased mind when they obtained that power. Vloxx, on the other hand, was seeking an even more primal version of that ritual. And unlike Mabon, Dagda, or Lyhr, he would keep all of his memories intact. For this reason, none of us found much solace in our small victory.

As we pondered our next steps, the comms device that Vloxx gifted me buzzed. He started by thanking me for disposing o. Sebb. I urged him to stop while there's still time, but I know he won't. He believes that this is the only path left, and while he'd like me to walk it with him, he's not going to be deterred either way.

It's clear that Vloxx is going to walk this path even if he has to walk it alone.
