Illusion

An illusion is a type of creature summoned by a mesmer that serves to draw aggro or do damage. They require a foe to be summoned and they will attack that foe until it, or the illusion, dies. If their target is not within their attack range the illusion will first walk into range before attacking. Mesmers can have different illusions attacking different targets by summoning them on said different targets separately.
Illusions come in two types: phantasms and clones.
- Phantasms are semi-transparent ethereal creations focused on doing damage.
- Phantasms are created by weapon skills or utility skills marked as Phantasm skills. There is no limit to the number of Phantasms that a mesmer can invoke at a time.
- Phantasms carry a unique weapon that depends on the skill that summoned them. For example, regardless of what the user has equipped, Phantasmal Berserker will summon a phantasm wielding a greatsword.
- Phantasms have short durations and are only summoned to execute a single attack on a target. Once their attack is completed, they disappear and a clone appears automatically in their location.
- Clones are perfect copies of the mesmer whose main function is to confuse enemies.
- In addition to being created as a byproduct of Phantasm skills, clones can also be created by weapon skills or utility skills marked as Clone skills.
- Clones use the weapon that the mesmer carried at the time of their creation, and only use the basic attack of that weapon to attack.
- Clones are relatively fragile and have limited damage and attack speed.
- Clones last for as long as they have health and their target does not die, or until the mesmer Shatters them.
- A mesmer can only have up to three clones at any time. Creating a new clone that exceeds this limit will first cause the oldest clone to disappear without effect.
Mechanics[edit]
- A mesmer can maintain up to three clones at a time, with the most recently created clone replacing the oldest one. Phantasms do not count towards this limit, but the clones they create after attacking and disappearing do.
- A mesmer can summon illusions on different targets. If a target dies, the illusion assigned to it will die as well, but illusions summoned on another target remain functional.
- Phantasms will carry out the rest of their attack after their target dies, but they will leave no clone behind.
Attributes[edit]
- Illusion's inherit most of their stats from the summoner:
- With the exception of health, the illusion's derived attributes (strike damage, armor, critical chance, critical damage, condition damage, condition duration, boon duration, and healing power) are identical to the summoner's stats.
- The illusion will inherit these stats as modified by Might applied to the summoner.
- Health is not inherited from the summoner, and is instead determined by the table below.
- All illusion attributes (including health) may be further modified by effects from skills or traits.
- Illusions are affected by most boons and conditions:
- Illusions are directly affected by boons like Fury or Protection, and conditions like Weakness or Vulnerability.
- Illusions do not benefit from Might applied directly to them.
- Illusions only care about the base attributes of the summoner, and thus do not benefit from flat multipliers, such as those from Superior Sigil of Force, Superior Sigil of Bursting, or Superior Sigil of Accuracy.
