  • Fixed issues that allowed wisps to be damaged by several of Decima's skills.
  • Decima's Seismic Crash and Earthrend skills should no longer have instant kill messaging.
  • The Convergence version of Ura should now be considered a titanspawn for the use of items and effects such as the Sigil of Demon Slaying.
  • Flaming boulders on Mount Balrior should no longer damage wisps.
  • Titans will now animate properly when going underground.

Fractals[edit]

  • A new challenge mode for the Kinfall fractal is now available.
  • Lonely Tower: Fixed an issue that allowed two players to interact with astral purifiers simultaneously.
  • Lonely Tower: Fixed an issue that prevented eligibility for the Fissure Walker achievement from being reapplied after a party wipe. Eligibility is now reapplied when a player reenters the boss arena.

  • Relic of the Blightbringer.png Relic of the Blightbringer: Increased the cooldown from 8 seconds to 12 seconds, reduced the poison duration from 7 seconds to 5 seconds, and reduced the cripple and weakness durations from 4 seconds to 3 seconds in PvP only.

Elementalist[edit]

  • Pyromancer's Puissance.png Pyromancer's Puissance: This trait no longer removes might when triggering Flame Expulsion. Reduced the might stacks from 2 to 1 and increased the might duration from 6 to 10 seconds in WvW and PvP. Reduced Flame Expulsion's maximum power coefficient from 2.0 to 1.5 in PvP only.
  • Transmute Frost.png Transmute Frost: Reduced the base healing from 1,078 to 778 and the healing scaling from 0.8 to 0.6 in WvW and PvP.
  • Elemental Shielding.png Elemental Shielding: Reduced the protection duration from 2.5 seconds to 2 seconds in PvP only.

  • Big Ol' Bomb.png Big Ol' Bomb: This skill has been moved into the Bomb Kit, replacing Glue Bomb. This skill now knocks down enemies instead of launching them and combos a blast finisher twice. Increased the radius from 300 to 360. Increased the power coefficient from 2.475 to 3.0 in PvE only.

Mesmer[edit]

  • Axes of Symmetry.png Axes of Symmetry: Increased the player confusion stacks from 3 to 5 in PvE only.

  • Imaginary Axes.png Imaginary Axes: Increased the player torment duration from 4 seconds to 6 seconds in PvE only.

Warrior[edit]

  • Death from Above.png Brave Stride: This trait no longer has an internal cooldown and grants adrenaline in addition to its previous effects. This trait now grants fury instead of stability in WvW and PvP.
  • Distracting Strikes.png Might Makes Right: Increased the healing from 98 to 115 in WvW and PvP.
  • Stalwart Strength.png Stalwart Strength: Increased the damage increase from 10% to 12.5% in PvE only.

Hi, everyone, Welcome to the preview for the June 24 balance update! This update will bring many functional changes as well as reworks for some underused skills and traits. As always, the goal of previewing these changes is to gather your feedback before the live release. We'll be following the conversation and making further adjustments as needed. General[edit]

Before now, dark aura was only obtainable by performing a leap combo finisher in a dark field. This update we are adding a new application method for it as we add trait triggers for dark aura to thieves and revenants.

  • Blasting a dark field now grants area Dark Aura.png Dark Aura instead of area blindness.

Elementalist[edit]

Elementalist is seeing functionality reworks for two of its utilities, Arcane Power and Glyph of Elemental Power, as we aim to make them skills with broader use cases. In the last preview, we had planned changes to hammer to increase some of its damage. We pulled away from those changes due to a recent meta development, hammer on tempest. Flame Wheel's large damage bonus held a large part of the weapon's power budget, which it was able to share with non-weapon skills such as Overload Air. We are reducing Flame Wheel's damage bonus while improving hammer's other skills so that the weapon maintains a more consistent strength across elite specializations in PvE. Lastly, aura-sharing tempests have been a mainstay of competitive modes, but due to tempest's alacrity application method, it was hard to justify in PvE. We are adding alacrity to Elemental Bastion in PvE so that we can align tempest's healing identity across all of our game modes.

  • Flame Wheel.png Flame Wheel: Reduced the damage increase from 15% to 5% in PvE only.

  • Arcane Echo.png Arcane Power: This skill has been reworked and renamed Arcane Echo. This skill now causes your next weapon skill to recharge instantly. The recharge of this skill is increased by the recharge of the recharged weapon skill.
  • Glyph of Elemental Power.png Glyph of Elemental Power: This skill has been reworked. Unleash elemental energy around you with its effect differing per attunement.
    • Fire Attunement.png Fire: Damage and burn nearby enemies.
    • Water Attunement.png Water: Remove conditions from nearby allies.
    • Air Attunement.png Air: Briefly daze nearby enemies.
    • Earth Attunement.png Earth: Grant barrier to nearby allies.
  • Pyromancer's Puissance.png Pyromancer's Puissance: This trait no longer removes might when triggering Flame Expulsion.Released version has further changes to might stacks in competitive modes, and a reduced maximum power coefficient in PvP
  • Inferno.png Blinding Ashes: This trait has been reworked and renamed Inferno. Burning now scales with power instead of condition damage, but at a reduced rate.
  • Soothing Disruption.png Soothing Disruption: This trait will now grant a different boon for each cantrip instead of always granting vigor. All cantrips will still grant regeneration.
  • Arcane Lightning.png Arcane Lightning: This trait now grants the user quickness when they use Arcane Echo.

Engineer[edit]

This update's engineer changes are focused on their core utility skills. Some elixirs will have additional functionality, and Detection Pulse is getting a small rework to make Utility Goggles a more appealing option outside of the niche stealth reveal. Larger changes to Bomb Kit and Flamethrower will shift defensive skills to the toolbelt slot and add new skills to the kit itself. Grenade Kit's increased velocity is becoming baseline to increase the kit's useability in competitive modes without Grenadier. Additionally, functional changes to many grandmaster traits will potentially increase trait variety in competitive modes.

  • Elixir B.png Elixir B: This skill now extends the duration of boons on you by 3 seconds.
  • Elixir C.png Elixir C: This skill is now instant and heals you for each boon you have after converting conditions.
  • Elixir R.png Elixir R: This skill now breaks stun. Increased the cooldown from 24 seconds to 35 seconds in WvW and PvP.
  • Flashbang.png Detection Pulse: This skill has been reworked and renamed Flashbang. Throw out an explosive shell at the target area. It explodes on impact, dazing and blinding nearby enemies while revealing enemies in a larger radius.
  • Fumigate.png Fumigate: This skill now removes conditions from the user when initially activated.
  • Bomb.png Bomb: Reduced the power coefficient from 1.2 to 0.9 in PvP only.
  • Fire Bomb.png Fire Bomb: This skill now inflicts increased burning on the first pulse. Total burning amount is unchanged.
  • Galvanic Bomb.png Concussion Bomb: This skill has been reworked and renamed Galvanic Bomb. Set an explosive that electrocutes enemies, dazing them.
  • Magnetic Bomb.png Smoke Bomb: This skill is now instant. It has been moved to the toolbelt slot and is replaced by Magnet Bomb.[sic] Magnet Bomb sets an explosive that pulls in enemies after a delay.
  • Big Ol' Bomb.png Big Ol' Bomb: This skill has been moved into the Bomb Kit, replacing Glue Bomb. It now knocks down enemies instead of launching them and now combos a blast finisher twice. Increased the radius from 300 to 360. Released version has further power coefficient improvement in PvE only.
  • Flame Blast.png Flame Blast: This skill no longer damages enemies it passes through. Increased the explosion power coefficient from 0.75 to 1.3. Increased the explosion's burning stacks from 2 to 3 in PvE only.
  • Smoke Vent.png Smoke Vent: This skill has been moved to the toolbelt slot.
  • Napalm.png Napalm: This skill has been moved to the fifth slot and reworked. Supercharge your flamethrower, damaging and burning enemies in a large cone in front of you.
  • Stoke the Flames.png Stoke the Flames: This is a new skill in flamethrower's fourth slot. Gain quickness and might while burning nearby enemies.
  • Grenade Kit.png Grenade Kit: Increased grenade velocity by 100%.
  • Grenadier.png Grenadier: This trait no longer increases grenade velocity.
  • Grand Entrance.png Flashbang: This trait has been reworked and renamed Grand Entrance. Explosive Entrance grants resistance and increased critical-strike chance for a short period of time.
  • Hematic Focus.png Hematic Focus: This trait has been reworked. Gain fury when you inflict bleeding on an enemy. Fury has increased effectiveness.
  • Juggernaut.png Juggernaut: This trait has been moved to the master tier, replacing Pinpoint Distribution. This skill no longer pulses stability and instead grants stability and fire aura when you use Napalm.
  • Equal and Opposite Reaction.png Equal and Opposite Reaction: This new Firearms grandmaster trait grants quickness and stability when you disable an enemy.
  • Chain Reactivity.png Iron Blooded: This trait has been reworked and renamed Chain Reactivity. Successfully comboing a field with a blast or a leap finisher grants you barrier. Every third trigger of this trait grants a larger barrier and might.
  • Gadgeteer.png Gadgeteer: This trait now causes Slick Shoes to stun break and grant stability instead of crippling foes and causes Utility Goggles to grant barrier instead of protection.
Holosmith[edit]

Guardian[edit]

Since the advent of off-hand sword, guardian's focus struggled to retain its identity as a damaging off-hand weapon. This update, we are giving a functionality update to Ray of Judgment so that focus can have an identity as more of a utility-focused off hand. Greatsword is receiving changes to increase the consistency of the weapon, and Heavy Light now has additional functionality to increase its burst damage potential.

  • Orb of Wrath.png Orb of Wrath: The projectiles fired by this skill now track their target.
  • Chains of Light.png Chains of Light: Reduced the cooldown from 20 seconds to 15 seconds.
  • Ray of Judgment.png Ray of Judgment: This skill now strikes in a ground-targeted area. Allies in the area are cleansed of a condition and are granted regeneration. Enemies struck have a ray of light attached to them that deals continuous damage. Reduced the number of impacts from 9 to 6. Increased the damage coefficient from 0.45 to 0.675 in PvE only.
  • Shield of Wrath.png Shield of Wrath: Reduced the cooldown from 30 seconds to 25 seconds.
  • Leap of Faith.png Leap of Faith: Increased the healing from 1,053 to 1,750 on the first hit. Additional hits will now heal for a lesser amount.
  • Symbol of Resolution.png Symbol of Resolution: This skill now deals additional damage on the first strike.
  • Binding Blade.png Binding Blade: Projectiles from this skill can now only hit their original target. The effect inflicted by this skill now stacks when applied by different sources. Increased the maximum pull distance from 450 to 750. Increased the power coefficient from 1.5 to 2.5 in PvE only.
  • Line of Warding.png Line of Warding: Reduced the casting time from 1 second to 0.4 seconds.
  • Signet of Wrath.png Signet of Wrath: This skill now inflicts burning in addition to its previous effects.
  • Signet of Judgment.png Signet of Judgment: This skill no longer inflicts burning and now inflicts blind and weakness on nearby enemies.
  • Shield of the Avenger.png Shield of the Avenger: This skill now grants protection to allies within its dome.
Dragonhunter[edit]
  • Heavy Light.png Heavy Light: This trait now also applies its bonus damage against enemies that are exposed.

Mesmer[edit]

For mesmer, this update is focused on opening up chronomancer's master trait tier and mirage's weapon options in PvE. Since Improved Alacrity got a critical-damage increase tacked on to it, it dominated the tier for all chronomancer builds. The critical-damage increase is being removed from Improved Alacrity, and its damage is being moved to the minor trait Flow of Time in the form of critical-strike chance. Mirage previously had important build components locked behind weapon choice. Alacrity could only be granted by staff, a large increase to power damage required wielding a spear, and mirage's condition damage trait required axes. Both Mirage Mantle and Mirrored Axes are being reworked to be applicable to any weapon. Additionally, Dune Cloak is gaining the ability to recharge offensive shatters. Our goal with Dune Cloak is to create a damaging-trait alternative to Infinite Horizons for mirages who prefer a shatter-focused playstyle.

  • Phase Retreat.png Phase Retreat: Reduced the cooldown from 12 seconds to 10 seconds in WvW and PvP.
  • Chaos Armor.png Chaos Armor: Reduced the cooldown from 25 seconds to 20 seconds in WvW and PvP,
  • Chaos Storm.png Chaos Storm: Reduced the cooldown from 35 seconds to 28 seconds in WvW and PvP.
  • Axes of Symmetry.png Axes of Symmetry: Clones casting this skill will no longer be interrupted when gaining mirage cloak.
  • Furious Interruption.png Furious Interruption: This trait now grants might in addition to its previous effects.
  • Power Block.png Power Block: This trait no longer increases the cooldown of interrupted skills and now grants a damage bonus when you interrupt an enemy.
  • Wandering Mind.png Evasive Mirror: This trait has been reworked and renamed to Wandering Mind. Cleanse a non-damaging condition and gain swiftness when you evade an attack.
Chronomancer[edit]
  • Flow of Time.png Flow of Time: This trait now increases the critical-strike chance of yourself and your illusions when under the effects of alacrity.
  • Danger Time.png Danger Time: This trait now increases critical-strike damage instead of critical-strike chance.
  • Illusionary Reversion.png Illusionary Reversion: This trait now grants alacrity in addition to its previous effect.
  • Time Bomb.png Improved Alacrity: This trait no longer increases critical-strike damage.
Mirage[edit]
  • Split Surge.png Split Surge: Reduced the cooldown from 1 second to 0.5 seconds. Increased the power coefficient from 0.85 to 1.0625 in PvE only.
  • Chaos Vortex.png Chaos Vortex: Increased the boon radius from 360 to 480.Released version has additional PvE player condition duration.
  • Mirage Mantle.png Mirage Mantle: This trait has been reworked. This trait now causes ambush skills to grant boons to nearby allies.
  • Phantom Pain.png Mirrored Axes: This trait has been reworked and renamed Phantom Pain. This trait causes shatter skills to grant a damage bonus based on the number of illusions shattered.
  • Dune Cloak.png Dune Cloak: This trait now reduces the cooldown of Mind Wrack and Cry of Frustration upon gaining mirage cloak, in addition to its previous effects.

Necromancer[edit]

Necromancer is receiving a handful of quality-of-life changes as well as a rework to its Transfusion trait. Staff is a weapon with a strong identity in PvP, but it struggles elsewhere. Transfusion is being reworked to augment staff's marks to gain supportive capabilities. Staff will gain a new identity as a support weapon, while also giving support necromancers some additional tools. Lich Form is being tweaked to make it more appealing for condition-focused builds to use its full duration.

  • Mark of Blood.png Mark of Blood: This skill's mark will now also be triggered by allies.
  • Life Transfer.png Life Transfer: Reduced the casting time of this skill. Increased the life force per hit from 0.5% to 1%.
  • Wail of Doom.png Wail of Doom: Reduced the aftercast of this skill.
  • Summon Flesh Wurm.png Summon Flesh Wurm: This skill will go on a reduced cooldown when the summon is dismissed upon mounting.
  • Lich Form.png Lich Form: Reduced the recharge from 150 seconds to 120 seconds.
  • Signets of Suffering.png Signets of Suffering: Increased the base life-siphon damage from 650 to 1,002 in PvP and WvW. Increased the base life-siphon healing from 645 to 997 in PvP and WvW.
  • Transfusion.png Transfusion: This trait has been reworked. Marks can now be triggered by allies and will heal and grant additional supportive effects to allies when triggered. Create Chilblains at your location when you use your fourth shroud skill.
Harbinger[edit]
  • Blight.png Blight: Reduced the health percentage decrease from 1.5% to 1% in PvE only.

Ranger[edit]

This update, ranger is receiving small updates to torch and the Skirmishing specialization line's grandmaster traits. Torch is gaining a blind as well as a stronger burst of burning to give it a boost in competitive modes. Quick Draw providing quickness and Light on Your Feet's uptime increase will make them potentially more compelling alternatives to Vicious Quarry. The Restorative Strikes trait is being reworked to leverage the strength of Vow of the Untamed while incentivizing you and your pet to be unleashed for even amounts of time.

  • Throw Torch.png Throw Torch: Increased ammunition from 1 to 2. This skill now inflicts blindness in addition to its previous effects.
  • Bonfire.png Bonfire: This skill now releases an initial burst of fire when used. The total burning amount is unchanged.
  • Quick Draw.png Quick Draw: This trait now grants quickness in addition to its previous effects.
  • Light on your Feet.png Light on your Feet: This trait now triggers with any ranger skill that evades. Increased the effect duration from 4 seconds to 6 seconds.
Soulbeast[edit]
Untamed[edit]
  • Cleansing Unleash.png Cleansing Unleash: This trait now displays on the effect bar when it is not on cooldown.
  • Biorhythm.png Restorative Strikes: This trait has been reworked and is now named Biorhythm. When you or your pet unleash, gain a stack of Biorhythm every interval for a duration, granting a percentage of strike damage as healing. When you reach the Biorhythm stack threshold, the next time you or your pet unleash, gain both bonuses from Vow of the Untamed.

Revenant[edit]

We're focusing on Legendary Demon Stance and the Corruption specialization line for revenant in this update. Corruption is gaining some small dark aura hooks to enhance the natural synergy it has with Embrace the Darkness's dark field. Legendary Demon Stance is getting damage outside of Embrace the Darkness to incentivize a more aggressive playstyle. Similar to aura-focused tempests, healing vindicators are a popular build in competitive modes that PvE largely couldn't partake in. Alacrity is being added to vindicator's supportive dodge trait to allow the Kurzicks to shine.

Renegade[edit]
  • Righteous Rebel.png Righteous Rebel: This trait now causes Kalla's Fervor to increase outgoing healing effectiveness instead of reducing incoming condition damage.
Vindicator[edit]

Thief[edit]

We're continuing to improve support-focused specter as well as adding dark aura options to the top row of the Shadow Arts specialization line. Shadestep is being reworked so that Specter's alacrity application can be more controlled and to make space for new tools. Shadow Arts is gaining synergy with dark aura to allow thieves to support allies with the trait line outside of stealthing. Specter's initiative penalty is being removed so that its weapons can share a similar efficacy across elite specializations. Both Deadly Arts and daredevil are getting small boosts to give them a bump up in PvP.

Daredevil[edit]
  • Distracting Daggers.png Distracting Daggers: Interrupting a foe with this skill no longer increases the cooldown of the interrupted skill and instead grants the user initiative and a damage increase.
  • Escapist's Fortitude.png Escapist's Fortitude: Increased the base healing from 150 to 300 in WvW and PvP.
  • Brawler's Tenacity.png Brawler's Tenacity: Increased the endurance gained from 10 to 15.
  • Impacting Disruption.png Impacting Disruption: This trait now reduces Steal's recharge in addition to its previous effect.
  • Lotus Training.png Impaling Lotus: Projectiles from this skill can now only hit their original target. Increased the torment stacks from 1 to 2 and increased the bleeding from 1 stack for 15 seconds to 3 stacks for 10 seconds in PvE only.Released version only modifies bleeding stacks.
  • Unhindered Combatant.png Unhindered Combatant: This trait no longer inflicts exhaustion when removing cripple. Reduced the exhaustion duration when removing chill from 3 seconds to 2 seconds in WvW and PvP.Released version increased duration effect in PvE only.

Our goal this update is to increase warrior's weapon variety in both PvE and competitive modes. In PvE, due to the strength of Dual Wielding and powerful off-hand abilities, some two-handed weapons have fallen behind. Greatsword's Hundred Blades and hammer's synergistic traits are being brought up so the weapons can shine. In competitive modes, however, main-hand weapons apart from dagger struggle to justify their use. Axe's Eviscerate will now be a more consistent large hit, and mace gains the ability to cancel a block for on-demand damage with Counterblow. More power is being put into the level 1 burst skills for axe and mace so that they are more appealing to spellbreakers. Bladesworn is receiving changes focused on improving quality-of-life for the specialization. Berserker's small boosts are aimed at helping their performance in PvE and PvP.

  • Eviscerate.png Eviscerate: Increased the range from 300 to 450. This skill now has a 50% increased critical-strike chance. Increased the power coefficient from 1.33/1.67/2.0 to 1.6/1.9/2.2 in WvW and PvP.
  • Cyclone Axe.png Cyclone Axe: Increased the fury duration from 1 second to 1.5 seconds in PvP and WvW.
  • Throw Axe.png Throw Axe: Reduced the damage increase at 50% target health from 50% to 25% and at 25% target health from 100% to 50% in WvW and PvP.
  • Skull Crack.png Skull Crack: Increased the stun duration from 1.0/1.5/2.0 seconds to 1.25/1.75/2.25 seconds.
  • Counterblow.png Counterblow: This skill can now be reactivated to strike enemies, inflicting a lesser amount of vulnerability. This skill no longer grants adrenaline when it ends and now grants adrenaline when you strike an enemy. Increased the power coefficient from 1.0 to 1.35 in PvP and WvW.
  • Hundred Blades.png Hundred Blades: Increased the power coefficient from 0.5775 to 0.775 and the final strike power coefficient from 1.21 to 1.5 in PvE only.
  • Body Blow.png Body Blow: This trait now inflicts vulnerability instead of bleeding.
  • Merciless Hammer.png Merciless Hammer: Increased the damage increase from 20% to 25% in PvE only.
  • Stalwart Strength.png Stalwart Strength: Increased the damage increase from 10% to 15% in PvE only. Released version uses a lower damage increase of 12.5%
